Didn't know about McDermott Surrey but I suppose scouting will just be a fill in until something better comes up so he might still be in it. Good shout on Lennon, I've just never really rated him but he does have some drive and personality at least. Know what you mean about Phelan, he does come across a little dull but by all accounts he was well liked and respected by the Manure players and should still have connections.
It's a tough one though. Given our position and financial constraints added to the numpties Freedman's lumped us with he won't have much room for movement. Again maybe Lennon might be worth a shout as you say because he wouldn't stand any nonsense. Hopefully whoever it is will be in place soon so he can prepare the club for Birmingham, defeat there would put us in a real spot.

I know he's not Scottish but has the same mentality!! working with Celtic but Irish?? FFS!! To many Englishman, Irishman & a Scotsman joke(s) spring to mind!! Maybe just maybe, Phil's get of jail card with Eddie might be lining the club up with either a new owner or a masterpiece signing of a manager with a point to prove!! Option A would be the best bet!! I'll just check on Ladbrookes!!

the basic shortlist... Lennon, Mackay, Clarke , Hughton & Mowbray is surprisingly good standard when you compare to other similar sized clubs in slightly healthier looking positions at the mo ( i.e not with our debt & lge position ). Cardiff with bigger resources than us have gone for a lge 1 mgr in Russell Slade..no PL experience, no promotions from this lge etc . fulham faves are billy mckinlay and kit symons !?!. leeds have gone for another nobody..more cheap sacking fodder for the owner in another 3 or 4 months !, and Watford have gone for another with no ch'ship experience in >> Slavisa Jokanovic >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavi%C5%A1a_Jokanovi%C4%87. not saying he's bad, Watford have a good squad and should make plays off at least. but its still a risk. most on our list have PL experience and have got promotions from this league ( btw those 2 don't always go together it is possible to have PL experience and no promotions e.g paul ince ! ) & decent win %'s in this lge ..Hughton on a low budget at Brum got 42%. & Mowbray was knocking out 40% with Boro. Mowbray , Malky and Hughton are the 3 with promotions by the way.

... according to the Telegraph, Paulo DiCanio has applied for the job... it would be interesting to say the least... and we may even get a mention on the FLS and in the regular media... I'd go for it...

Any shouts for Curbishley on here (edging my bets on here with that name)

Mowbray , Malky and Hughton are the 3 with promotions by the way. This makes my point exactly that it makes more sense for us to appoint someone we know and knows the club like JP. I really do question this belief that just because someone has experience of the Championship it makes him somehow more worthy. Each of the prospectives had experience under far different conditions than we're in so what makes them suitable for us? JP/DL have experience of Championship and PL and have worked under some great managers here. They know our first team and our youth teams, understand the history, feel the passion of our fans in a way none of the others do. This belief that you need an older head, be it Rioch or anyone just doesn't stand up for me. Freedman had Lawrence but did it do any good? No, so let our two amigo's see what they can do I'm sure they couldn't do any worse than the other names spouted. I seem to recall Clough and Taylor succeeding without prior experience some years ago so why can't our two?

Lennon seemingly off to the Saudi Arabia job so that looks like one off the list.... Can see us ending up with Mowbray out of the 5 possibles which I really don't fancy.....

Yeah.... The only good thing about Mowbray, he once played for RIOCH at Middlesboro. I don't want him at the ReeMac, nothing personal, nowt against him, but he never did much as boss of Boro apart from alienate good players.

With Gartside it will be whoever spouts the most crap, sucks up to him and is cheap. Mowbray it is then!!

Reading a few tabloids it would seem that Phil & Eddie's criteria in the next manager are to have a proven track record in the Championship along with an affiliation to the club!! Does that mean Phil "the sunbed" Brown is a shoe in??
Personally I think the job for Brownie will be too big for him!! However if the tabloids are right and brownie gets it he will get my backing.
