starting this thread really early as I think i'll have more time to spare now, doing
a bit of research , than later part of the week.
k.o. 7.45 Fri.
Salford are in 10th place. we're in 20th. they have played 10. won 4. drew 4. lost 2.
all of their 4 wins have come against sides currently in the bottom half.
our 2 wins also were against sides currently in the bottom half.
their 2 losses came against top half sides AWAY .
they are unbeaten at home.
of the 5 bottom half sides they have played, they have 4 clean sheets. ( 4 wins 1 draw )
we have -8 goal diff . they have +8 goal diff ( us for= 9 ag= 17. them .. for =16 ag = 8 )
their defence isn't as solid as those stats suggest.
www.footcharts.co.uk/index.cfm?task=corr_defence
( don't think link will work directly..but if you click .. correlations then saves... then set it to lge 2. )
they actually concede on average 3.90 shots per game.... compared to our 3.36
see the effect of a good keeper versus a bad one.... only 0.8 avg goals conceded per match to our 1.55 .
so despite facing fewer shots on target, our keeper manages to let nearly twice as many in.
on to their main threats.
they have 3 players in the top 10 for average shots per game . we have none unsurprisingly.
1. Ashley Hunter 3.6 avg shots per game. scored 3 & 2 assists.
2. Brandon Thomas-Asante. 3 spg . yet to score.
3. James Wilson. ( ex- man utd player ) 2.8 spg. 4 goals . 1 assist.
Ian Henderson also has 4 goals. veteran striker. aged 35. bit of a Rochdale fc legend. scored 100+ goals for them.
scored 15 lge goals last season at lge 1 level. 20 the previous season! . double figures for several years before that.
started the season on fire for Salford. a goal on his debut within 2 mins & a hat trick the following week.
but that's the only 4 he's got . needs to shoot more as his SPG is only 1.5. well behind the other 3 above.
ex- bwfc guys to look out for are Jason Lowe & Oscar Threlkeld.
will add my prediction..later in the week.
got a feeling we will up our game for this one. players always like to keep their future
employability prospects high by performing better when there's a bigger audience (tv) for it.
some very winnable games after this one.
Stevenage, Scun*thorpe & Southend. all 3 in the bottom 4 at the mo.
