Well for starters, I’m still going to say Parkinson goes after witnessing 2 seasons of boredom hoof!! It’s really difficult who to suggest which players we keep on, there can’t be many and this would of course depend on whether PP is retained!! I can very easily see Ken extending his contract as he’s so blinkered he probably can’t think of a better fire fighter on his behalf and also that he’s a cheap turn and can easily be quietened when it comes to asking for transfer funds. There will be a plethora of talent coming on the market including players that have just got Wolves and Cardiff promoted and if Cardiff do go for Rondon from WBA I can see Madine being surplus after 5 games in the Prrem. I like the look of that McBurnie kid on loan at Barnsley It’s going to be a tough couple of months for the chairman at Bolton but we’re used to surprises so bring it on

Finally playing hard enough to earn their obscene wages on the last game of the season? Let's pick and mould a squad of young, pacey players like the U23's and have David Lee and Tony Kelly manage. We won that game in spite of Parky and the sooner the fans realise that the better. Ken ordered him to play attacking football. Fall on your sword Parky. You are a one trick pony as all the Bradford fans told us. The sixth deluded Manager since Sam left us. Just GO!

My first thought was that Cardiff are up. They owe us money. They also will now have money. They need better players and they cannot be happy with Madine. Madine is not premiership.
Coincidentally we've not replaced Madine. Phil Parksinson still badly misses the big lump. It makes sense for Cardiff to offer the player back as oppose to paying the add on.
Problem is GM will see that as a step down. He probably has trebled his money and likely had a clause that he gets more. However a loan back may be on the cards or for Cardiff to supplement some wages.
My go list- Howard, Darby, Dervite, Taylor, Pratley, Buckley, Derick, possibly Beevers, Taylor C, Morais, Wilbraham, Flanagan(No room for sentiment I'm afraid.)

The biggest retention/release question of the early summer may never be asked- what to do about Parky?
On the one hand, his achievements have been admirable. The promotion last season was, to be fair, the lesser of the two. We definitely rode our luck at times, and Anderson got away with bending the rules concerning new recruits, which undoubtedly helped. But he did get us into the Championship. His achievement in keeping us there is also praiseworthy, especially as we were still under embargo for the summer transfer window. We were helped immensely by Sunderland’s implosion and Barnsley’s policy of selling their best, which eventually led the manager to quit and their descent after Christmas. Burton, on their budget, we should expect to beat over 46 games, even if in neither head to head.
But the real issue is not how great have been his achievements, but what is he likely to do for the club in the future?
With the best will in the world, there is precious little evidence from his career so far that suggests he has the tactical awareness and flexibility, or the imagination and expertise to manage at a level just below, or, in time, hopefully even challenging for promotion to the Premier League. He’s no Wagner, that’s for sure. His record of using the loan market this season has, at the most optimistic reading, been mixed. I would say poor. For every Robinson or Burke, there has been a Charsley, Clough or Walker. His recruitment of free transfers has been very similar. I, for one, am not sure he would make the best use of any investment brought in.
I’m sure that the majority of those of us who have seen a lot of games this season ( myself admittedly on iplayer) would agree that, tactically, he has frequently been out thought and outmanouevred by opposing coaches. I don’t detect any great coaching, tactical or motivational skill in him. In short, he’s a very competent, lower league manager.
On balance, and as Sugar would say, with regret, I have to say that Parky has done his job. Thanks very much for that. Now, he should hand over to a more able successor. Now just who that might be, is another interesting question.

Good post Paul, I know I’m not on my own to say that I cannot and will not stomach another season of bland football. A better manager, with the players we went down with the last time might have romped League One and maybe even had us mid table this season but to think that Ken’s only option is to stay with PP is the greatest admission of a lack of ambition, lack of funds. Seems to me that Ken likes the trappings of being known as a ‘saviour, owner and chairman’ of a football club but in reality, would sell in an instant if the right money was on offer and who wouldn’t!! I’d still go for John Coleman at Accy Stan. I’m already getting stick off my Blackburn and Wigan friends telling me that they are 6 points in the bag already and if we still had a Big Sam at the helm I’d ram them comments down their throats, sadly though, I can see many a team taking 6 points off us, such is the massive rebuilding job we have for next season

As W63 said I personally would have gone in a different direction last season, after the Bury match there was a portion of fans that realised that it was poor to watch. Hoofing long balls to ALF in the absence of Madine.
12 months on and we don't seem to have improved and it's almost Groundhog Day at the Birmingham game.
I fully understand that PP has completed his objectives and you may argue that surely he deserves a chance. Even more so he deserves to see what he can do with a bit of money to play with.
Personally I just think the football is too poor, the points required tally was low and next season we need improvement. If parky argues that he can improve then I suppose he is owed a try.
Then again. It all depends on how we could realistically replace him with? Is David Lee ready? Will a manager like Mick McCarthy work under constraints like that for the money we offer? Would John Coleman leave a good job to risk it? Would Appleton be any better? Would we pay for Nolan?
I'm with Paul though. I don't want PP. If we let Parkinson have a start and it fails again the next man will come in with his squad and that wouldn't be fair. I would drink rely be sounding a few candidates out.

Decisions, decisions. Will Ken Anderson be here next season? Or, even at the end of June? The club is after all, for sale.
My view is that if it is sold, then KA will have to fire Parkinson before any sale is complete. The new owner starts with a clean sheet and may already have been advised of available managers. Most players are out of contract too, so that solves a lot of what if's.

For me the truth is that I said to the wife before the forest game what ever happened I would get a season ticket on one condition and that's Parky is not there if he is I will pay to watch on the new efl stream link and I will stick to that. As to who should go all them that's not in contract and we rebuild COYWM

Now just who that might be, is another interesting question. Totally agree Paul, I think you've summed up my own feelings perfectly. It's not about what he's achieved, he must quite rightly be applauded for accomplishing what he has under extremely difficult circumstances but the question has to be, how do we go forward from here? I stated on here at the end of last season, that we should thank Parky but replace him with a manager more likely to compete in the Championship and I believe I have been proved right, despite us somehow staying up. Let's be honest, the standard of football for all his two years has been tedious, boring and unadventurous. I don't think even Parky can believe his luck or how he's done it but after capitulation at the death by the likes of S****horpe and Bradford last year and Sunderland and Barnsley this year, we scraped it. We won't continue to do that indefinitely. Parky won't change, that we know and it doesn't matter how much money is pumped into the squad, his negativity in selection, attitude and style will ensure the boredom factor remains. As you say, Parky is a very competent lower league manager but just doesn't have the ability to compete at the higher level. Keeping him would only delay the inevitable and could stagnate our revival. Let's have a Wilder or a Harris who want their teams to win games even though they too have restricted budgets and playing strength, rather than a Parkinson who is just happy not to lose and sees the minimum objective achieved as success.

Whites, I can see Anderson keeping Parky on the understanding that the season starts like this one then he'd be gone after five games.
Other than that, read my post above on the sale of the club. Maybe Anderson and Parky won't be here next season.

I think Anderson is gonna be shocked at the number of NON renewels of season tickets. And the main reason will be if Parky is still manager. A lot of fans I have spoken to are of the same opinion...including myself and 2 friends (20 +yrs season ticket holder)

A lot of fans I have spoken to are of the same opinion...including myself and 2 friends (20 +yrs season ticket holder) People aren’t mugs and at around £40 per game = time, travel, ticket & pint, to watch that horrid (no other word for it) football if you can call it that, it’s going to see folk walking away. During the Ricoh era, there must have been a 12-14 thousand strong following, willing to renew season tickets year on year during his tenure because he brought excitement and unpredictability to the turf just as Big Sam did and he also would have commanded a solid 18 thousand season ticket holding during the Prem years and in my 4 decades of watching the Wanderers, we’ve only had 2 managers that have made Bolton Wanderers a team to be recognised and worth buying a season ticket for. PP will drive folk away
