Well the way we’re going rioch you may be right. I honestly fear for this one, everybody talks as if it’s a banker win but we can’t score for toffee and Reading have won their last two and 3 in the last five. Trust us to get them when they’ve picked up and we’re struggling and you may even be being optimistic with our getting a point? We have to believe we’ll win this but to be honest I just don’t know where the goals to do so are going to come from and whether after Fridays abysmal showing the players will recover their confidence? If they were nervous and tentative away at Stevenage, imagine how they’ll be tomorrow in front of a big crowd and carrying the weight of expectation. Something just doesn’t seem right in the camp at the moment to me and so I’m going to be a real neg head and say 0-2 to Reading. ☹️

Whilst we're struggling to score away from home we hit 5 for the last time at home. So I'm still reasonably confident in a win today. Reading are a few places above the drop now but points wise they're still in. I did think they were all but safe already but 5 puts in front. Though on form you'd expect them to push on. Just hopefully not today.
I don't know how Bodvarson will react to being dropped for no goals Jerome. Although he isn't that great when he starts games he still is a much better option. With weeks to go before he's out of contract does he try and prove his worth or has Evatt snubbed him one too many times and he down tools, keeps himself injury free for negotiations in Summer?
I would prefer to see Maghoma or Dempsey as a no 10 rather than Jerome in there.
We know anything but a win isn't good enough. Just hope we see some fight today. Doesn't go our way and might we see the first signs of toxicity from the fans.
Was the Barnsley game wasn't it that we had a spell of 20m of passing it from the back being pressed and making mistake after mistake. Baxter then decided to launch it up and the crowd cheered. Evatt slammed them afterwards so if he can't handle an ironic cheer God knows what he makes when that does turn a bit sour.
But confident at home. 3-1.

Like I said earlier OM, I should be confident here but I’m just not. Evatt complained of pedestrian football yet it’s his own captain that breeds it. Surely he needs to have a word with him because playing out from the back is one thing, walking football is quite another. Santos was horrendous for the whole match on Friday yet clearly nothing was said to him at HT to speed it up resulting in yet another attempt to give a goal away. I’m convinced it’s not a happy camp at the moment so I genuinely fear for us today and as you say, if we play like at Stevenage and lose this I feel even Evatt’s backers, like me actually, will start to turn on him.

Must win! Definitely do not want Lincoln in the play offs. Can't travel today, so will be listening out nervously. By Sunday it could all look more positive. Or?

Crunch game today
Usually I look for a good performance from the team but today we need to win regardless.
Win today, Derby lose at Portsmouth tomorrow, we win at Bristol on Saturday and all is level. Easy isn’t it?
We don’t have the best record against Reading. Last 5 home games – 0 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat. We need to go back to a Gary Speed inspired 3-0 in the premier league in 2007 for our last home win against them.
They are also on a reasonable run. A few decent wins and a ridiculously unlucky loss at Derby where the referee conspired to rob them.
Our approach needs to be like the Oxford match, i.e. fast attacking – not the patient slow walking football we often get.
Team wise, I presume Jones will be back. Who he replaces is up for debate as Forester had a good game on Friday. Maybe he goes right wing back as Dacres-Cogley final passes have been average recently.
I expect the normal midfield and, hopefully, a return of Bodvarsson to the starting team.
It will be tense – we often fall flat when a big crowd turns up – but we need a win of any type.
Optimist as ever, I go for 2-0 win.

The fact that none of us are throwing Aaron Collins name into the chat just shows how little comfort we have that he will be the one to pick up the goal scoring mantle
What is it with Evatt and ex Bristol / Burton goal scorers??? Does Evatt coach the life out of them
“If you score today lads, you’ll not be playing next week, I don’t want any of that cavalier football at my club, if you want to play like that, join Newcastle”
Collins bagged over 35 goals in 2 seasons for BR, Adeboyejo 11 for Burton

I am obviously in the minority on here (or have forgotten to take my rose-tinted specs off) but I think Collins has a real touch of class about him.
Some of his movement is excellent and the 2 goals he has scored so far have been very good.
I accept that we need more goals from him (and everyone) and that he is sometimes too deep but I see a class player there.

After all my support for the manager when others have been having a go at him, I just do not understand his "water pistol" comments he has made today immediately ahead of a vital match.
What is he on about and how is that motivational?

I really do not know what's going to happen this afternoon I know what I want to see fast free flowing football without any Pooh but we all know what's going to happen big crowd, very slow build up, a million passes then a wasted ball given to the opposition. Do you know that it's with a heavy sad heart that I won't be watching today, but go on say it just like they do on the BEN site we don't need fans like you. We turn out in our numbers home and away but at the moment the player's don't seem to interested to get stuck in and put games to bed I know it's not over but It's hard work COYWM

I like Collins but I'm more impressed with his assists. He's not had a strike partner really. Certainly his best game came at Oxford with JDB.
Same with you Whites, I don't know why Evatt thinks he's powerless to change it.
I wouldn't drop Santos as some have said but I'd certainly be telling him to move it faster and if its 0-0 one of those CB needs to come off and we go 451. 433. Don't need 5 a the back knocking it about in our own third when we need a goal.

Today he’s leaving Forrester out after being our best defender at Stevenage and putting Toal in his place with Iredale down the left. Much as I like Toal he doesn’t link up as well in attack as either Jones or Forrester do. Once again Jones not even on the bench so is that another injury or another fall out? I suspect things aren’t well in the camp at the moment with players losing faith in our leader. I hope I’m wrong but fear I’m not. Anyway let’s hope I am wrong and the players prove it today?
