And I’ll have 2 pints of whatever your drinking davidm. 🤣🤣
In fact, I hope you get me in the secret Santa after your over the top generosity with your marks for the players yesterday and if you do get me, I’ll have a large bottle of that drink you took before scoring the players😂😂😂
Actually, i do wait with bated breath for your match reports as they’re usually bang on the money as was your report yesterday, save for a few odd player marks
Only issue I do have with your predictions, who the bloody hell is going to score all these game winning goals??? I’m stumped that we lie just 2nd behind Posh for goals scored but we always appear to have no prolific goalscorer/partnership that are ripping this easy league apart. Any front man playing in this side could have got the same amount of goals as Dion (apart from Nlundulu / Vic / Jerome) I actually have no confidence that we’ll hit the net this side of the start of the playoffs, I really do
Evatt has lost something, especially with his choice for CJ ahead of JDB yesterday. He’s lost more than player happiness, he’s lost his marbles and his comments after the game about us being scared and nervous to go win the game, that’s his job to turn their fears into positive belief, which he failed to do at half time.
Evatt will be one of these L1/2/3 managers whose CV will always guarantee him a job in the aforementioned leagues, but never above. His football wouldn’t last one game in the Championship and we’d be cannon fodder, it’s not attacking enough and far too possession based that ex Prem clubs and top 6 sides would muller us

And I’ll have 2 pints of whatever your drinking davidm. 🤣🤣 Just half a pint for me. Its strong stuff. To be honest it's worrying that you've got us taking 16/18 points and still have us same points as Derby needing more goals. And this is why we won't do it. Derby have learnt they don't need to be great shakes. They can win ugly. If they take 7 points it makes it very difficult for us. Are we the worst away form side in the whole league. I don't understand how anyone could think we can win the next 6 based on this calendar year. Its like saying Cameron Jerome is capable of double figures still. You can't say definitely not but on the basis of probability it ain't happening. I'm not sure how bad it would be to bow out of the automatics and get our head around playoffs. Save the energy and get the mindset right. Speaking of which after Derby didn't we come out with "all pressure off. We can enjoy the chase" 90mins later and we're frightened of losing???

I have to agree with the others David, I think you’re being a tad over optimistic in your forecasts. Yes it can be done of course but there would need to be a strikingly different performance from the whole team and I just don’t see it happening I’m afraid. Were we to have the likes of SJM, Andy Walker and Nobby in the side, players you could rely to shed every drop of blood to win such as the Wembley final against Reading I might agree with you but sadly these players have proved time and again as on Friday that they are weak and lack the calibre to fight for those results. I think we can safely say it’s the play offs for us and maybe with a few walking wounded back we can put up a better show than last year but I certainly wouldn’t bet on it. My problem is that Evatt just doesn’t recruit players like that who have a mind of their own and who might challenge him. He wants to run the whole ship, his way or the highway and I think 5hats his main weakness. I watched the Leeds highlights yesterday and in particular young Somerville their left winger who cut in from the left, past two defenders and curled a shot into the top right corner just as Dapo used to do and which we rarely if ever see now. That is what we’ve lost in the name of Evatt’s football, no individuality. Paris can do it to a point but you just feel he’s too constrained and he’ll be gone in the summer anyway. Frankly I think I’m bored of Evatt’s way and feel it’s time for change in the summer.

I’m not saying that is what will happen – just that the dream is still on.
Just consider the next 2 days.
Monday – we beat Reading – not an unreasonable idea.
Tuesday – Portsmouth beat Derby – again not unreasonable.
If that happens, we are 3 points behind with a game in hand and a not too dissimilar goal difference.
Win the game in hand and it’s likely we will be above Derby.
So keep believing/dreaming/hoping/praying.

Even on Friday we played a very weak Stevenage but the players just didn’t turn up, AGAIN, whilst Derby scraped yet another win. I’m afraid we just have to accept that the character is completely lacking in this squad, however good some players might appear. Collectively they just don’t have it and I don’t see one “leader” in there who boosts players or kicks ass when necessary. Certainly Santos is for me an atrocious choice as team captain but he’s exactly what Evatt likes, someone quiet who won’t disrupt. I don’t go into any game ever feeling really confident we’ll win which when you look at our squad is crazy. As you say though, we could still do it and it’s not beyond Derby to throw it away but it still requires us to win our games and that’s basically the problem, we’re just not. ☹️

Just thought I’d do a bit of ‘Statto’ing’ Not sure if this helps our nerves or not
League One Since the 2009/10 season, the 3rd placed side has been promoted via the play-off final on 6 occasions
3rd = 6 4th = 5 5th = 1 6th = 2
The onus is all on Evatt if we fail promotion with the players, the spending and the backing off the owners.
There must have been the obvious remit that promotion must finally be realised this season and even a play off final spot will not be enough if we fall short, he has had enough time in this league
Some other stats worth looking at, we have the joint highest winning margin (Barnsley) 7-0, the longest winning run - 6 games, unfortunately, we also have one the worst with that home demolition by Wigan, but we’re also up there in terms of support, I’d guess 2nd only to Derby
Just watching the City Arsenal game and Sky have this wonderful habit of filling our screens full of pointless stats like passes completed, passes in the final 3rd, minutes goals are scored etc etc etc, oh and possession stats of course (City with 72%) now where have I seen that before The most important stat where Arsenal are concerned, it’s still NIL NIL and they’ve matched City punch for punch.
I can just see Evatt recording, pausing, rewinding, freezing, learning the Pep way…..
NEWSFLASH Ian, it’s boring beyond belief and just like Bolton, they’re struggling to score as well
Edit Had to laugh at this comment as n the Beeb
“Watching Man City play is such a contrast to the Liverpool v Brighton match earlier. Like watching opera straight after going to a rock concert!! Kevin, Fulham” 😂😂😂

It still irks me to this day
That cockey cockney Frank Lampard, pointing to the spot on our turf in front of the North Stand at the Reebok where Chelsea won the Premier League (think 2005)
Don’t ever want to see anyone celebrating on our turf ever again and that leads me to my point. Portsmouth could be promoted on Saturday if we don’t pull our finger out from that awful win yesterday. Yes, it was a win, but ugly, scruffy, nervy, you name it, we were it. So we have to draw on our impressive goal scoring routs of late to ensure we thump this average Pompey side. Yes, average
That all said, my league table finish predictions are below
April 10th – Wycombe v Derby – Derby win - (Derby 85 - BWFC 81)
April 13th – BWFC v Portsmouth – Draw (Derby 85 Bolton 82)
April 13th – Derby v Leyton O – Home win - (Derby 88 BWFC 82)
April 16th – BWFC v Shrewsbury – Home win - (Derby 88 BWFC 85)
April 20th – BWFC v Port Vale – Home win – (Bolton 88)
April 20th – Cambridge v Derby – Away win - (Derby 91 BWFC 88
April 27th – Peterborough v BWFC – Draw – (Bolton 89 Derby 91)
April 27th – Derby v Carlisle – Home win - (Derby 94 BWFC 89)
Peterborough, I predict to finish on 87 Can also see Barnsley and Oxford finishing the play off spots, despite Lincoln’s resurgence
Just don’t see Derby dropping another point with their run in, whereas we have 2 banana skins and even if we do a perfect 4 wins, there’s still THAT Stevenage point that could cost us the autos (& goal difference)
Just watched Peterborough struggle past Wycombe 2-1 but WW put up a great fight (half the fans in the ground from last seasons crowd) let’s hope they carry that on for the Derby game

Looking on the brighter side, though, Rioch, if Derby were to lose one, and we win all four, then we have 93 points and they 91, so let us not give up hope too soon. Maybe we can start to fulfil optimists' hopes with a win against the champions-elect on Saturday. Normally I would have had hopes for Wycombe on Wednesday, but they will probably be shattered after their disappointing loss to The Posh on Sunday, but you can't rule Cambridge out. After all this is FOOTBALL.

After all this is FOOTBALL. Spot on Ken, wish I was an optimist like most folk on here I think I need to reset😬 I’d be a lot more optimistic if we had Derbys fixtures than ours, even though 3 of ours are at home If we met Posh in the PO final, would they have a bit of a psychological advantage over us having only just played there? God I’m so nervous… Already I’m looking back in anger at that awful February where we drew against Barnsley, Northampton, Charlton, then lost to Blackpool and were robbed at point blank range by Wigan Pathetic. There’s at least 9 points that would have us Champions by now Then, of course, was the awful results at Exeter and at Stevenage and it’s the Stevenage one that really grates on me, as that could come down to the One Point needed Hope it doesn’t map out that way as that could have a negative effect on going into the play offs COYWM Lift my optimism please, but not with anymore of those Bristol performances, my heart can’t take it ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Well we’ll know by Saturday night whether it’s still on or not but after another cracking, fast moving performance against Oxford we go back into our negative slow sideways shell again at Bristol, just as we did against Stevenage, both poor sides we should have beaten easily yet both games we could have actually lost. You know in the first five minutes how they’ll play and I fear now Baxter is back he will feed Rico with the usual slow roll out. At least Joel used to get the ball forward quickly more often and for me was a big part of those 5-0 victories because of it.
I watched the full 90 at Bristol today and couldn’t believe how sluggish we were right from the off in a game we knew we had to win. I really don’t know what to make of it when it’s blatantly obvious that when we get the ball forward quickly we blow teams away but when we dwell on the ball we just encourage the opposition onto us and get into all kind of panic situations. I’d love to think that on Saturday we’d take the game to Pompey who I believe to be a no more than average team but I just know we won’t. Santos will walk it out and slow the whole thing down and the rest will take their lead from him.
Why should I be so totally pessimistic? Because I’ve seen it so many times before with this lot and I fear the same again. The best we’ll get is a draw but I don’t even think we’ll get that and to make it worse I expect Derby to have done no better than draw at Wycombe on Wednesday. I genuinely hope I’m wrong to feel this way but it’s for the team to prove I am and I’m not sure they can.

I see Barnsley are finding Stevenage an easy place to go yet Ian said Stevenage was a hard place to go I don’t know 🤷
