Not be confused with BSM thread.
Also sub topic "Barnsley vs Derby"
Starting with our game. Awful record at Bloomsfield Rd but surely our fans go on there vibrant and boisterous and we take the game to them. Spurred by possibly having Santos back. And Thomason back.
Personally my theory is that Santos won't be fit(as said if he was fully fit for this my hunch us that Evatt would want him on the bench at Cambridge. So suspect this may be his reintroduction and Wigan may see him start)
I mean we now could almost debate every position. But the real arguments will come up front.
I'd go Collins and Bodvarson. But I often accuse Evatt of not going with momentum so maybe Mendes Gomes gets another run out.

Not much content on the sub topic. Sorry.
Barnsley vs Derby. I was going to say all results suit and don't suit. Barnsley win and it brings them well back in it with us needing to go to Oakwell. Derby win, we'll that's not good for us and a draw keeps them both in it.
Perhaps a nasty affair full of reds and injuries(two months, not career threatening)

Once remember going to Bloomfield on a couple of occasions Trevor Sinclair scored (can't remember if it was the winner or an equaliser (back in the Phil Neal days)
Also, Tony Cunningham was on the pitch the second time I was there, memory is not what it used to be and I can't for the life of me remember if he was playing for them or us. I seem to recall it was a midweek game
Anyway, on to this one.
The best way to address a shocking home defeat is to go for victory, but are Blackpool about to do that?
Critchley prefers a 3-4-3 formation, although l've noticed against the likes of Derby Pompey Barnsley he tends to opt for а 3-5-2
We do have goals all over the pitch, from Ogbeta to JDB, Dempsey to CMG, Toal to Maghoma, but sadly, nowt from Dion in ages and no debut goal so far for Collin, could this be his chance?
I do fear either an injury to Sheehan, or a card for GT (and Evatt) if the Tangerines get brutal in the middle of the park, but more importantly, we’ve just got to stop this boring, mundane, game killing passing out from the back.
Please lan, get us on the front foot from minute one and go at them, they're not that good at the back and we have many creative and dangerous players to thump these I agree with OoooM, this could be Critchleys last game if they lose
I'm hoping and praying for our first win at Bloomfield in nearly 50 years (was it 1977 last time around?)
COYWM We CAN do this Can't we??😬😬 ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

This is the first of three games that I worry most about, the pies away and Derby away being the other two as for whatever reason we just can't buy a win against these 3 teams away since Noah was a lad. It's not that we are not good enough to win it might be in the mind but you can only win football matches on the pitch so if we can't beat them 3 at least get a draw so COYWM

Blackpool aren’t in good shape and want their manager out and to make matters even better no Rhodes for us to contend with as he’s still injured and they’ve only scored 3 times in the five games he’s missed so I’m sure despite our not having Dion we can still do better than that? I don’t go with this not won for 50 years stuff because we haven’t really played them there that often in that time. Nor am I remotely worried about Wigan on Tuesday who we also owe a stuffing to after the last two results. Being at their place I actually see as a benefit rather than a negative and we can royally wipe the smile off their ugly mugs. Derbys always tough but I’m not even worried about that if I’m honest. I just believe that we’re the best all round team in this league and I’d favour us to beat anybody home or away. In fact I think if we get an early goal on Saturday we’ll win comfortably so I’m going for 0-3 to the mighty Whites. 🤗😁

Never mind the nearly spent force Rhodes, the person who worries me is Norburn, brilliant from box-to-box in the EFL trophy game. Absolutely imperative we keep a grip on him, and, if so, will more than likely win.

They’ve a few players we need to keep an eye on Kenglo but I don’t think they’re the threat they’ve been without Rhodes so as long as all ours do their jobs we should be more than capable of taking the points. I think it is important though that we quieten the crowd which if we can sneak an early goal will do the trick. Let’s hope we make a start like we did second half at Cambridge?

I see Cheltenham managed a draw at Wigan Hope we fare better when it’s our turn
Although I do expect the Penrith Panthers and Wigan Warriors to make sure the pitch in definitely non Bolton Wanderers friendly for when we turn up next week 😬😬😬😬
We’ll beat Blackpool this time

I’m sorry 63 it’s not about negativity it’s about being a die hard Bolton supporter we all would love to say we will win our next 14 games but we know it ain’t going to happen and that’s were I think our 3 games that I’m worried about come into it, it’s just my gut feeling 🤷♂️

Obviously you’d expect both Blackpool and Wigan to raise their game against us and of course history isn’t on our side but I just think at the moment neither of them are in particularly good form and are there for the taking. Unlike you I don’t feel nervous about our run in, I think playing good teams could work for us rather than teams fighting for their lives at the bottom shithousing and fouling their way through games at poxy grounds on poxy pitches. Of course I may be being too optimistic but that’s just my gut feeling on it. 😁

They've both had spells where they were throwing away points and Pompey seemed to have had more than thier fair share of luck with very late goals, penalties, soft reds etc. There will be lots of twist and turns as we know. Some huge games. I know Sky have picked up the Oxford match(I didn't realise Oxford were back in the play off mix) and I know Whites couldn't care less but I don't know why Sky aren't all over this league. Barnsley Derby today? Wigan on Tuesday? Our games at Derby and Barnsley and Pompey and assume that they will show games from the final day but Posh Bolton at this point seems huge. In my head, draws today and Tuesday wouldn't be the worst, it would pile pressure on us to go to Pride Park(or whatever its called) and win and we'd have to beat Oxford and Pompey at home BUT there's also that part of me that thinks why can't we go unbeaten the rest of the season, put 10 wins on and make it easy. Push for the top spot. And in truth there's no reason at all why we can't. We got through Cambridge that was pivitol a good win today sets us up with real momentum. Blackpool 0 Bolton 2.

There’s a lot of concern about these next 2 matches. I understand that after having 60+ years watching the Wanderers, we have fallen flat on many occasions but, in all honesty, I bet the supporters of Portsmouth, Derby etc would all say the same about their teams.
The main thing to bear in mind today, and on Tuesday, is that we are playing a mid-table side. Not the top of the league.
Also we are playing Blackpool when they are in a bit of iffy form.
Not won there for 46 years – well it’s time we did.
I was at the Sherpa Van semi-final when the most ridiculous penalty ever was given against us so we finished up 1-1. I was at both the 2-1 defeats when we were on top for most of the games.
I saw us draw 2-2 when someone called Nathan Delfouneso scored a late undeserved equaliser for Blackpool.
So it is time we won.
On the team. I hope to see Santos back – but he must be fully fit – no messing about with fitness.
I think the musical chairs between Ashworth and Ogbeta will continue with Ashworth in today.
Midfield is interesting with 5 men for 3 spots. He tends to juggle it about a bit so I expect Thomason back but with who I do not know.
Upfront, I would play Bodvarsson and Collins which is a bit unfair on Mendes-Gomes but, having said that, I have a feeling that Adeboyejo will start.
So time for a win and I will go a tight 1-0.
