Surely goal line technology should be mandatory for all EFL clubs these days, it can hardly be an extensive thing to 8nstall?

Oh well, that’s it now for this season I’m afraid, start planning for next year now and which players we keep and which we let go. I’ll start with my list of those who can leave for me.
Kachunga, Bakajoko, Johnson Aimson Williams Tutte Gordon Dixon
Some of these may seem a surprise but I genuinely believe that if we’re going to seriously challenge next season then we need to up the quality, especially in defence where we’re so weak and a strong ball winning midfielder. Far from Evatt having a quiet summer, I think he’s got to be hard on his keeps and invest in real quality.

Season over
Now play for pride
& new contracts 😡😡
1 point from 2 home games is pathetic with the players we have
I can only blame Evatt and his tinkering and not really knowing who is best players are not knowing the beat formations and who suits what particular role best
All Evatt I’m afraid😡😡

That's it game over lost 1-0 that for me is our season over it's a disappointing end against such a poor team. They scored a sloppy goal and hung on for the rest of the game and just stopped us playing it's the old thing goals wins you games. Stay safe one and all COYWM

Unfair to say that the more time Evatt has with coaching a striker/attacking player the worse he becomes?
Point of contention on the wanderers podcast. How can you have so much possession, so many expected goals and not get the end result. When players come in they look great and after a few weeks they simmer down and often then go completely off the boil.
Its L1 next season and thats ok. When we can field all our players at the same time we have a chance but take out a Jones or Lee and it just ruins everything. No team should not be able to cope with a couple of alterations.

that's surely Goodnight Vienna for the play off hopes. a few dropped points elsewhere, but our form has suddenly completely gone. 1 win in the last 4 now, when we were top of ALL form tables ( 4 games, 6 or 8 or 10 or 12 ) ,well apart from away form. but now home form taking a real dip. knew the away games were winnable and that might have given us a chance.
like i say some dropped points elsewhere but generally top 6 or 7 doing well. 8-10 positions all fluffing their lines.
not keeping clean sheets. still same aerial weaknesses. now even attack struggling to score after looking like that was another strength of getting 2+ goals most home games. agree with Andy, midfield injuries hurting us hard. that defence needs protection. was very surprised it ever had the decent defensive figures it got. said at the time, midfield screening seemed to be helping it out.
Dapo and full backs also an issue. Dapo best wide but using full backs for width. some odd quotes from IE about him becoming a Scholes for us ?? don't get the comparison. in latter years, Scholes was a deep lying playmaker / passer. Dapo's got pace & can beat someone. Scholes not really his strengths. in his younger years, PS did grab a few goals & have vision, and assist, but Dapo doesn't really do assists. just 3 this season, and only 2 last year at Lge 2. he tends to beat someone then pop a shot off, that's why he's led the shots figures for the Div for most of the season .

Little really to add to my earlier halftime post. The better team throughout won the match. We were marginally better in the second half and at least forced two good saves from Charles and Afolayan. Not sure how Kachunga missed his sitter.
We seem though to have lost all momentum going forward. Bodvarsson looked our likeliest player and Charles worried his markers at times.
But we looked short without Jones Lee and maybe Dempsey
Trafford 7 Aimson 6 Johnston 4 Santos 1 ( the goalline clearance - all else terrible- how many missed headers or unmarked men ? John 4 Williams 6 Morley 6 Dapo 4 Fossey 5 Charles 5 Bodvarson 6 Saddlier 5 Bakayoko 4 ( clumsy but noone played to him. Even in added time we passed square and back

Very disappointing result.
Very disappointing performance.
Out-passed, out-thought and out-tactic by a better organised team.
Plymouth passed it well and nearly always found their men and once they were in front brought out all the delaying tactics they could think of.
We set off OK for about 10 minutes, we pressed but couldn’t break through and Plymouth slowly got into the game. Charles had a half chance but refused to shoot. Afolayan had 2 powder puff shots straight at the keeper.
Meanwhile Plymouth passed it well and slowly got control of the game.
When they scored, it was really poor defending from Johnston (AGAIN!).
A corner was played to the far post, Johnston stood and was out-jumped easily for a good solid header (Santos please note that is how you head the ball!)
And that was it.
Plymouth had the lead and were not going to give it up.
Second half, they somehow escaped when Williams set Charles up only for the keeper to get his hand to the header and push it out and then Afolayan did his one dribble of the game and centred for Kachunga to head down but not in and it somehow hit a body and was scrambled away.
We had our regular flaps at the back when they could and probably should have scored another goal or two.
The referee made up for allowing their time wasting by adding 7 minutes on but we showed no urgency at all. 1-0 down in the 95th minute and we have a goal kick. Trafford to Santos, to Aimson, to John, to Aimson and back to Trafford. We never crossed the halfway line before we lost the ball.
We seemed to accept defeat too easily.
Marks:-
Trafford - 6 Yet again, not much to do. No chance with the goal but he did flap a few times. He also showed little urgency in the last minutes when we should have been rushing to get the ball upfield
Aimson - 5 He just isn’t of the same quality as Jones. Defensively not bad but his forward passing is awful
Santos - 7 Some good defending although yet again a couple of iffy moments. His heading when we attack is atrocious
Johnston - 4 So poor for the goal. He is a defender which implies jumping when a corner comes in. Just out muscled.
Fossey - 5 Not as attack minded as recently
John - 5 Similarly, the wing backs just could not get into the game
Morley - 6 Couldn’t run the midfield
Williams - 5 Strangely subdued except for one little attack when he set Charles up to almost score
Afolayan - 5 Not in the game anything like enough
Bodvarsson - 5 A struggle
Charles - 5 He needs to get a tap in goal to get his confidence back
Sadlier - 5 Tried but couldn’t get us into the match
Bakayoko - 5 Saw very little from him
Kachunga - 5 Probably should have scored with his first touch but it was scrambled away

I feel these games are being lost in midfield. It's all very well blaming Santos for not always coming away with the ball, when he is the last defender and one-to-one with an attacker, but as one who also feels the trepidations with that situation I feel the need to look for the reason why Santos is so often in such risky situations. For some weeks now I have been looking at the performances of Williams. We welcomed him last season and early in this as a strong midfield anchor in the Campo mould, something every team needs. But now I find him not holding those positions that endeared him to us. Now I seem him desperate and all over the place, anywhere but holding defensive midfield together. If Ian Evatt wants to use him in a traditional wing half role, that's OK. but please sort out another midfield anchor ASAP to replace him. Plymouth adapted better to the windy conditions and our teamwork was less coherent than usual. I wouldn't have said this last year, but Jones at right back is a tremendous miss with Fossey struggling accordingly.Isgrove has also been a big miss. Sadlier made a difference in the second half and I feel a place has to be found for his playmaking skills, at whose expense I'm not sure, but at least he should be standing in for the so badly missed Lee.

a brief round up of the other results . largely irrelevant if you're just looking at them thru' a BWFC lens, but still quite an interesting battle for play offs and automatics , with things to observe and learn from. Ipswich v Pompey finished 0-0. Pompey showing their away grittiness. Pompey move 2nd for away clean sheets with 8. Rotherham still light years ahead with 14. we've got 3. that's something to improve on next season. strangely these 2 home slip ups have put the final nail in the coffin. MK v Wigan. battle for automatics finished 1-1. game of top defences and low chances. after 55 mins, neither side had had a shot on target. then both sides scored with their first on target. MK had only the games 3rd shot on target at 90+5 mins. Cheltenham won 3-1 at morecambe. Alfie May with another goal. 18th of the season. Cheltenham had 9 shots on target away from home. Sheff wed hit Cambridge for 6. 6-0 !! . 3 for Berahino and 1 assist. goal and assist for Bannan. despite being an ex-PL name, Berahino had only got 3 lge goals all season before today. so doubles it in a day. Oxford win 2-1 at Shrewsbury. another goal for Matty Taylor. now on 19 lge goals ! Sunderland made very hard work of beating Crewe 2-0. took til 84th min to make the breakthrough. still no goals for Defoe. another big game..Wycombe v Rotherham. 0-0. terrific defence from Rotherham again. just 1 shot on target conceded !! another away clean sheet. and here's the big one....JUST 5 GOALS CONCEDED IN 19 AWAY GAMES. . a mind bogglingly low figure. Wycombe becoming a bit detached in 8th place from the top 7. 2 pt's behind, but played a game more too than the 6th and 7th placed teams. some smaller trends in goal diff just showing themselves. both the top 2 sides have goal diff 25+. all of the 4 teams currently in play off spots have won 19 games or more. and generally have goal diff 20+. Sunderland exception with 18. from 7th to 10th teams, the goal diff is generally 15-20. whereas us down in 11th, our goal diff is only 10. and below us IT'S ALL NEGATIVE GOAL DIFF -EVERY SINGLE TEAM ! the bottom 4 sides in the relegation zone, being the only sides with -20 goal diff or more. so goal diff does seem to mean something. that's what encouraged me when we clearly had the best goal diff in the form tables for both the last 10 & 12 games.

I clearly need to expand on the low mark for Santos
1. He missed around 10 relatively easy central headers in defence. One went up and backwards for Trafford, two skidded off as back headers one narrowly missing the opponent, a couple went off in any old direction a couple he just missed or didn't go for, once he was beaten. 2. On free kicks and corners he marks noone when others do.
3. He doesn't mark so a couple of examples of men running off him into acres og space- one led to a Trafford near post save
4. As 3 but getting caught on the wrong side- once in first half forward ahead of him all but made tap in
5. Tends to fall back into noman's land rather than tackle- today led to a line clearance but what was he doing there and what wasn't he doing?
6. Slows down play at back and runs all manner of risks
7 once pursued his man into midfield and easily rounded
8. Hopeless in attack- again headed over from good position
9 made one good long pass but his first effort way too long
As I say each week his recovery play can be good one to one but he is also clumsy and risks penalties- obviius one on Tue
Contrast Aimson- not a great player but in first half won all his headers and directed most to his own side
We are judt so creaky and vulnerable in defence. We do miss Lee of course and Williams is less of a player without him.
Morley was ok today but in my opinion we were one short. Not sure playing two upfront and Dapo isn't leaving us one short in midfield. Williams should not be the central receiver. He doesn't have the field of vision or dexterity of touch to turn and flip balks forward- so we end up back passing or playing square. This realky neutered John and Fossey.
It was crying out for balls over the top and quick counter attacks but we saw too few of either. When we did counter attack forwards fluffed their lines badly in that first half

unofficial highlights of todays game. don't know how long it'll stay up on YT, as it seems to be a home made job done off Ifollow by a Plymouth fan ,but he's done a good job of it. no sound but crams all the main chances in for both sides in just 2 mins.

I see that Whites63 has listed Williams and Both Johnston and Aimson for release at season end, and feel his view is very perceptive. Neither of the latter two has seemed to be an adequate replacement for last season's Baptiste, and in turn their weaknesses must subscribe to the defects in Santos's performances, while stressing that you cannot expect any one player ever to go through complete matches flawlessly, especially as this is the Third Division and that Santos, like many of our players is trying to build a career as part of a successful well-supported BWFC. In Williams' case I would like to see Ian Evatt acknowledge the fact that he is a defensive midfielder and that his job is to cover the back three or four, especially in cases of opponents' breaks with most of our team upfield in attacking positions.
