Happy new year everyone and as John Lennon said - let's hope it's a good one, without any fear.
Yet more optimism from me. I am still of the mind that the quality of opposition is so poor in this league that we should be winning the majority of games even taking into account the defensive aberrations of the last few games.
With home games, we seem to hit a position where we set off well, play pretty passing football up to the edge of the box but fail to score. The opposition let us do this for 20 minutes or so and then realise that we have run out of ideas and eventually take over control of the game.
Defensively, we must tighten up. 14 goals conceded in the last 5 games. Will the manager stick with the same back 3? I get the feeling that Delaney may be made the scapegoat when in reality all 3 have been dreadful.
The wing backs position will have to change with the absence of Kioso. I assume that Jones will move to the right and someone (a left footer I hope!) will come in – Greenidge?
In midfield, I need to see Sarcevic play a little further forward as his attacking is an asset. Can Thomason and Tutte hold the central midfield?
Upfront, I assume it will be Delfouneso and Doyle although I have sympathy with AndyL’s thoughts on Delfouneso. I do though want us to play 2 upfront so that Doyle can play in the opponent’s box and pick up scraps.
After the manager’s comments this week about non-playing players going out on loan, I hope Darcy is NOT amongst these. I want him at least on the bench and coming on second half if needs be. Please don’t ignore him.
Here’s hoping for a good game and a 2-1 win.

I've lived in fear since BSA left. 2. This has similarities to whites comments. My view is that if the quality is so bad in this league, then we are adding to the poor content. 3. If Darcy goes out on loan then this will be a big faux pas by Evatt. I've no doubt that some of our players are destined for teams more successful than we are at present, but selling them later could help our financial situation. Having said that, if he is one of the players requesting to go out on loan, perhaps he will, at least get Lge 1, or higher. 4. I don't have that without any fear attitude david. As I have said to RTF, I know the form team, but for us it depends on which team will show up. I'll help RTF's double chance and go for 2-2. perhaps the better bet is both teams to score. Happy New Year to you david and everyone. Keep up the good work, I enjoy your posts.

I fear that Darcy will be one of the first away because he obviously doesn’t fit into Evatt’s plans, since he can’t even make the bench now. I have to admit to being amazed by that because for me he possesses far more in an attacking sense than any of the others we have, works his socks off and has an eye for goal which seems a good fit for Evatt’s system. Obviously Evatt doesn’t see him that way so if he’s not going to get games here, the only option is for him to go elsewhere. We have to trust in Evatt but some of the regulars he chooses like Delfouneso, Baptiste and previously Crellin, despite consistent under performance, leads me to question him. Time will tell of course and hopefully if he can make room and bring in quality like Lea and John, as suggested, it may be worth the loss of one or two. I’m not sure about today, as wots says, it depends which team turns up and whether IE sticks with the same back three but either way we should hopefully be too good for Crawley, even allowing for their recent good form.

I hope not, but I wonder if Ian Evatt see £signs when he reviews Darcy's position. Regrettable though it is, it looks as though his hands are tied or he doesn't get Darcy's potential around the last third, even for replacing Delfouneso. I'm hoping for the best today, as usual, but feel unqualified to make a prediction - just a heartfelt wish for our club and all fellow supporters in 2021.

still no concrete news about Watters. injury news.. not saying anything wrong with him. so going by that. he should play. but are they holding him back for a sale ?? still baffles me how they have a manager interview preview and say nothing about it. not long now til we find out for real. www.crawleytownfc.com/news/2021/january/preview--bolton-wanderers/&.....Happy New Year to all.

Our manager never gives updates on injuries - why would he want to give any information to our opponents that may or may not help them with our team selection before it’s announced

well he's shaken it up a bit, but of course Santos still starts. do we really need 3 centre backs on the bench... I know Baptiste can play full back.. but seems o.t.t. all the same. for Crawley..Watters doesn't start & not on bench.
yes, Alain, i get the fact the manager may want to do that, but then don't put any injury information on your website then either. we've had our manager play mindgames too..pre-Salford game ..said several key players were doubts then all played, including one who'd virtually been ruled out.

Saving him for the Leeds game next Sunday - and no we get very little information about injuries on the website- the only time we really get information is when they are back playing -

davidm I think we seem to be getting outplayed more often than not even though we seem to have a splattering of decent players and a few poor journey men maybe after this window we might get a couple of players in. Stay safe one and all COYWM 0-0

I'm sorry but Jones is not a left winger and we don't seem to have a battling midfielder that can break up play and Marshall the rest of them COYWM 0-0 halftime
