So obviously we want new manager and the argument for keeping Parky seems to be "who else would come?"
We're top two leagues which means we play in the fifth of sixth best league in Europe with a relatively new stadium. Why would we sell ourselves short so much.
Most managers out of work would be dying to get back in the game and see this as a great opportunity. Some would hear us out but may say they'll wait for the Fulham/Southampton jobs or that the salary is 20k a week too light.
Above is a list of names of I feel credible candidates and Ken Bruce. All have cons or failures to their name they wouldn't be there if they didn't.
You can have multiple votes too. I just wanted to get a general consensus.
Given too that there are plenty of foreign managers that unfortunately I don't know and lower league managers that are not on my radar. So this is by no means a valid shortlist.
Anyway my top 5 would be Warburton, Heckingbottom, Bowyer, Mcarthy and why not throw some money and get Moyes!

Mc Carthy? ??....I wouldn't let him anywhere near the Reebok. Just don't understand why fans think he would do a job for us. I strongly suggest you ask Ipswich fans what they thought of him, it took them 3 years to get rid of him.! And before some smug clever clogs comes on and says " Well look where they are now ".....that's got nothing to do with McCarthy leaving.

I get that going for Mick would be a bit like jumping from the frying pan to the fire. He too is pragmatic defensive and boring truth be told.
I definitely would listen to what he has to say because at least he can defend his defensive style. But ultimately I can't see us getting 18000 in the stadium which I guess would be our secondary goal.
Mick ticks a lot of boxes. Championship experience. Promotion and survival. Shoestring budget and even international i.e can only work with a set squad.
Do get your points and that's the reason for this thread really for debate.
Mick would surely be a front runner. I think it's feasible and that has legs. I'd say in likelihood MM to manage Bolton would be 8/10.

MM is absolute rubbish as is the relatively untried Heckingbotham. None of the names you list is particularly appealing. You'll be suggesting Gary Megson next !

Well I hope to God you are wrong with that last stat. Hes a Dinosaur and you forgot his horrific season in the Premiership with Sunderland ending with relegation and very few points. Its a big NO from me. Theres some awful names up there, McCarthy, Jewel.....don't know where that one came from....Hurst & Nolan. I would of included Mixu, Joey Barton & Jimmy Phillips. Preferably David Lee/Kelly....

Jimmy Phillips I've lumped into the Co part with David Lee. That's Tony Kelly and Julian Darby too. Jewell I wouldn't be interested in but heard his name mentioned on the main site. I don't think Joey has done enough, I don't think Ken will pay another club either. Worth a debate but cannot see Barton in the running. I don't quite get what Mixu has done in truth. And MM after taking over one of the worst premiership outfits got Sunderland to the play off final and then promotion the next season. Genuinely don't want you to think I've made that list and that's the bottom line but there's no way Barton and Mixu have a CV like Micks.

Just suggesting they are a better option than some of your names. Mixu has had a few manager jobs in Scotland and managed at International level. MM is a shocking idea ! Pretty sure he was sacked that season and didn't bring them back. Could be wrong, hes still an awful idea.

Hierro. It means Iron in Spanish. He could "iron" out our defensive frailties and for sure would want us passing the ball on the floor. Don't think he would be very succesfull but at least it would attract international attention at a time when we are looking to find a buyer.

Under new ownership o2m, I'd gladly go with Fernando but under the current circumstances I wouldn't go for him plus I don't think for a minute he'd come.

For me it has to be Brownie. Working with DL, TK, JP and JD it would be a complete home grown group of true Wanderers. I'm sick of bringing in managers with no affinity with the club or its history, especially recent history. Brownie would crawl here for this job and he has all the credentials of any of the other managers you've listed. Let's get some heart and soul back into the club and also some fun which I think Brownie would bring and he certainly wouldn't be a pushover like Parkinson with the players. Having access to BSA advice would also be a plus so for me it's a no brainier and of course after today he's available and would cost nothing to recruit.

I don't want to see Parky go! And I don't want Ken to sack him.
If he chose to resign and for all sorts of reasons, not least the forward trajectory of his career, I think he should think about so doing, then see arguments parallel thread much as ws63 I can see an argument for Phil Brown in that he might just fit in. I have to wonder though if Per Frandsen would be interested- he'd be good someday?

I like the idea of Barton, or Nolan. Browny, I'm not to sure of, but anything is better than what we have now.

I watched Kev Nolan's Notts County in the playoffs and if you don't like hoofball, you certainly wont like kick and rush Nolan-style. In fairness to the list of EO I missed the name of David Lee, and from what Pedro says of the Under-23s I would say give him a punt, though internal promotions have been tried before without success. What we need is a coach who can persuade the whole team to press the opposition into mistakes and pick up the second ball, who can ensure that the team do not play like complete strangers. I yearn to see players having worked together little cameos on the training ground a la Lofthouse and Moir, Langton and Webster, and Reid and Thompson. There is so little of that to relish in these days of athletic fotballers.
