I’m in the camp of ‘Evatt In’ 🤔
IF……..
He gets us up, as he’ll be deserving of at least a chance to see how he performs in the Championship
BUT
I can’t stand anymore of this under achieving football on offer when clearly, there’s the nucleus of what can be a decent crop of players, with a few quality additions, that could make us a very worthy Championship side
The real concern, his lack of adaptability and willingness/knowledge to change to play the system, learn the dark arts, don’t just sub for the sake of subbing, don’t bring Collins off when we need a goal and replace him with Jerome.
Just watching City Madrid and it’s like watching Bolton v Portsmouth
Portsmouth/Madrid score first and it’s all City/Bolton after that I know there’s a massive quality difference but the principles look all to familiar - pass pass pass pass pass pass = nothing City with 13 corners and apart from the Madrid goal, Baxter/Ederson hasn’t had a save to make so far
Bellingham and Vinicius are invisible but then so is Haaland and Foden, just like JDB and Charles in some games and if possession is not 80% City 20% Madrid I’ll eat my hat[ and there’s only one team attempting to win, City/Bolton br] This is what Evatt is all about, he wants to emulate the Pep style and it doesn’t work, ever
And after all that possession and tippy tappy football CITY ARE OUT

I wonder if Mr Evatt watched Man City v Real Madrid last night.
If so, it should be blindingly obvious that you cannot play walking football to win matches.
They passed, passed, passed at such a slow rate that by the time they got near Real’s penalty area, Real had 10 men behind the ball and then City tried to pass the ball into the net.
Anything sound familiar there?
It is just so slow and eventually tedious.
I hope the result will teach our manager that there has to be some urgency and pace in our game to succeed.

I don't think it was because the team played Evatt walking football v Shrewsbury. In actual fact it was because the players brought in for Santos, Sheehan and Jones failed to perform. I have already said that he didn't have much option defensively, but his recent treatment of Morley is disappointing, and he should have at least started. Bodvarsson is always a miss, and there were better options than Jerome, though I do not hold anything against him as do many supporters.

It's not that we hold anything against Jerome kengy it's just that in my opinion he should not be playing in a make or break game unless it's in the last ten minutes I would have played Maghoma up top with Morley in place of Dempsey and bring Dempsey on 75 mins but hey what do we know we are only fans not managers. If ever proof was needed that Ian Evatt’s brand of football will ultimately be his and our failing if we somehow fail to negotiate a path to the PO final, I’ve just seen this “Just how one-sided was it? Manchester City had 88 touches in the opposition box against Real Madrid; the most on record in a Uefa Champions League match (since 2007-08). Their 33 shots were also the most in a knockout stage game in the competition since Liverpool (34) versus Atletico Madrid in March 2020” Pass pass pass pass possession possessions possession!!!! I wouldn’t mind but it’s not even nice to watch, let alone ineffective I’m not saying I prefer Parkhoofson’s lump it upfield but when Coleman thumped a few upfield we looked a little more dangerous than we do under Baxter’s cautious slow kick out. This just encourages more caution from GT Sheehan Toal and Santos and that’s not what has been giving us the 5-0’s of recent times

May I respectfully repeat that I didn't think our failure to defeat Shrewsbury was down to walking football. It was down to the players brought in to replace the injured who did not perform on the night, which affected our teamwork and ultimately the result. I also feel that Ogbeta, while his forward surges using his right foot are attractive, is not the answer defensively at left wing back - and yes I would prefer at least one out-and-out winger in the team, which usually also should include Morley. Evatt is the manager, and no manager gets everything right all the time, so those on the BN site who have been battering him should calm down a bit.

Not sure you can blame the subs though. Forrester has stepped in so many times only to be dumped out immediately. Wasn't even in the squad.
Like Aimson last season. He's stepped in, kept clean sheets and literally the post match is all about what we are lacking with Santos being out. I'm sure if you're in Evatts plans you love him but if you're on the fringes he must be a nightmare.
Like Coleman. Just picture his week of training everyday going back home knowing he's not in a match day squad. Then 6 months into the season he's in no warm up games and he's got 20,000 fans all expecting him to be as good as Baxter in the pivotal part of the season.

I agree with you Kenglo, the players who came into the side really let us down, surprisingly even Forrester who I think is normally excellent but was just a shadow of himself on Tuesday. I don’t know what’s happened to Demps either because he just doesn’t look the same player but it wasn’t only the replacements who let us down because the majority were at fault with only Paris looking like he wanted to win. I don’t blame CJ, he’s what he is and for me was one of the least bad performers whilst the likes of George, Toal and even Collins after a few initial, shots just looked way off the pace and had that been Coleman in goal he’d have been annihilated for letting those two goals in, which I actually don’t think he would have. I think we do though have to give some credit to the shrews because they were much better than anticipated and actually could easily have won the game. I’m afraid I can’t create any enthusiasm for the Vale game. Derby won’t slip up again and even if they did we’d never make up a five goal deficit and the worst thing I can imagine is losing out on goal difference. So for me the seasons over now until the play offs, not bothered who we play because if we play to our strengths we’ll beat anyone and if we turn up like we did on Tuesday we’d lose to all of them.

All football fans are the same the world over fickle when we win the manager and no matter who plays are the dogs balls but when we get beat or don’t beat a team we should be beating the manager and team whoever is playing are useless. So we need to take a step back from it all and say fxck it we will get it right in the end and the true fans we know who we are the ones that have been there done that cried in our beer or soft drinks we still comeback for once in never out COYWM
