This is not going to be a Reading walkover I don’t fee, but we do owe them a bloody good hiding
They came to our place and did a quick smash n grab raid, think it was Matt Taylor’s (no, not that one, the other one) first or second league game in charge if I’m not mistaken
They then went on to beat Portsmouth in the same month and have since had notable wins v Stevenage, Wigan, Oxford, but they’ve also been beaten by just about every poor team in this league.
They’ve also recently been beaten 5-0 by Lincoln and 3-0 by Derby, so there’s the yardstick to measure our credentials to go there and thump em
Will it be Evatt spoiling matters by bringing back Dion and Baxter (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it) or will he go with the fighters that put in a show v The Royals?
In that game Dacres Cogley was disappointing as too was GT. Sheehan didn’t really get much of a grip in the middle although he did complete some decent passes Maghoma has got some good exciting moves on him and we need that up front but by eck, is he accident prone and a bit bone idle at times
We have no room for error, no room for stragglers, we have to be 100% on it for the last 5 games
If we can complete this task, who knows where it might leave us COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Santos, in my view, was very average

Well we are of course now in that space where we have to win everything until the automatics are mathematically unachievable. As you say I’d go with the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it camp as neither Dion nor Baxter can possibly be match fit to come in. It’s probably tougher for a keeper change than an outfield player who can be given a cameo appearance to get properly fit as they have to play the whole game. You could switch at half time but that would be crazy in an important game.
Knowing Evatt though it wouldn’t surprise me if he changed it but the way Coleman has been playing recently it would be a big and very risky call. Whoever plays this has to be a win and hopefully by a few goals despite Derbys extra point now as it could still be crucial. You’d hope that AC would be wanting to impress his former fans and to be fair with nothing to play for I’d think they would be happy to see him do well even against their own. What price successive hat tricks? I’d stick with the same side and give them the chance for a repeat and if he’s fit pair Dion with AC after 70 or so. If we don’t win this we don’t deserve automatics so let’s see how it goes but I’ll say 0-2 to Wanderers.

Well a few times it's been one step forward, one or two back. If we go backwards and not win there won't be any more chances for me.
Easy said but the league doesn't matter. We're now in tournament football. 5 games. 5 wins needed. Any draw may be points lost.
I'd play the same team with possibly Randell and Ashworth in on the left. (Not a huge Ogbeta fan)
Coleman isn't as irrational now. He does seem to have settled. I wouldn't rock the boat. Did Iredale limp off on Monday? Thought he did.

You’re certainly right about one step forward one back OM, how many times this season have we been in pole position and then failed to take advantage. To be fair it’s Derby who now have that position and fear of fall back so we need to be there to take advantage if they do. Certainly as you say it’s knock out football now where only wins will do although after slipping up at Derby I think the starting gun on that was at Stevenage where again we failed to capitalise with an utterly dreadful performance. As for our starting eleven I’d stick with those who started on Monday. After a performance like that how can you even consider changes? I certainly wouldn’t swap Ogbeta for Williams and certainly not for Ashworth who I don’t consider anywhere near the required level either in defence or attack and I believe Iredale was suffering only cramp so he should be fine for Saturday. If not though I’d switch Toal in there again with Forrester or Jones if fit on the right of Santos. Let’s just hope whoever plays this is the first of our five wins because I agree it will take them all to have any hope of the automatic spot left.

For me it’s leave well alone is there no second string games Baxter could play in as Coleman has settled down and looks to be a very good backup keeper. Let’s not piss about tomorrow get the 3 points and move on COYWM

I realise it’s near the end of the season and with nothing to play for interest wanes but I thought there might have been a few contributions on what to expect at Bristol?? 🤨
Joking apart, is IE going to leave the team unchanged or is he going to get his bingo balls out again? It goes without saying that I’d leave everything exactly as it was on Monday but will Evatt be inclined towards bringing Dion and Baxter into the starting line up? I’d certainly hope not but Dion would obviously be a bonus on the bench to come on for the last 20 or so to get back into the flow. Hopefully the game will be won by then so he’s not having to chase anything. It doesn’t sound like Geth is ready yet so presumably Toal on the right and Iredale on the left of Santos which I still believe is our strongest defensively. I also hope he sticks with Ogbeta at LWB because I just think the lad is coming on with every game and if he can work on his final ball could be a real good player. Anyway, whatever team he puts out they need to go for it from the start and get back the 3 points they threw away at the Reebok earlier in the season. 🙂

If Baxter is 100% recovered and isn't second guessing I'd have him in. He's in the player of the year conversation(well in it. Top 3) Colemans no where near that conversation. Get Baxter back in.
You may argue that Charles is also in that top 3 conversation so my logic dictates he starts too. Well I wouldn't moan about the AC/DC line up. But AC/JDB just got 5 goals(Coleman conceded two at home and linesman flag saved his blushes)

Getting monotonous but yet again this is a must win game.
As I have said in my positive posts, the chance of automatic promotion is still on but not if we drop points.
5 wins and we will make it, I think.
Interestingly, a repeat of last years results in the same games:-
Bristol Rovers 2 BWFC 3
BWFC 3 Portsmouth 0
BWFC 1 Shrewsbury 0
BWFC 2 Port Vale 1
Peterborough 0 BWFC 5
would get the 5 wins.
We can but hope!
On to today. I would play the same 11 as Monday but will Jones return? If fit, will Baxter return and likewise Charles?
I would favour Baxter returning but only if he is 100% fit and ready,
Charles, I would put on the bench as Bodvarsson and Collins were excellent on Monday so deserve to start again.
Bristol are on a run of 5 goalless games – let’s hope it continues.
We have a decent record there so I will go for a 2-0 win. A few extra goals would help with the goal difference.

I just hope it’s not too soon every game at the moment is a must win game as I believe one more defeat will be the end of our automatic promotion unless derby suddenly throw it away 2-1 win will do COYWM

Feel sorry for Coleman’s as I think he’s improved dramatically
Hope we don’t come back on here later blaming Evatt for the GK swap when Coleman had earned the right to be there

Early indications are that Baxter doesn’t like going long (8mins)
Got all the hallmarks of the Exeter game, it’s all us and then they’ll catch us with a one-two (18 mins) Come on Wanderers, turn this monumental possession into a goal as soon as possible please

Still no sign of a goal a lot of pretty football but not a lot of clear cut chances, we need to gee it up a bit COYWM
