Whatever happens on Saturday, no team will displace Pompey from the top
With Derby having the relatively easier of the fixtures being at home to Shrewsbury, they get the chance to make up some good ground on the top 4, so there’s absolutely no room for us to drop points now
Portsmouth have beaten Northampton twice 4-1 & 3-0 and that’s the measure of where we have to be tomorrow if we are going to get a foot in the door of top 2
Crikey, even Shrewsbury beat these 2-0 and Town were at home, but Northampton have achieved something we haven’t since 77, beaten Blackpool at Bloomfield.
Such a strange league this League One
I expect Dion and Vic to start as per the Cambridge game (just because Evatt can) but I really want to see this Collins lad unleashed, crikey, he bloody cost enough, use him ffs
We usually get vertigo beyond 2 goals but I’d hope we’re good enough for a 2-1 victory
COYWM Now is the time⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

It’s time we started turning up at these grounds and just play our game getting stuck in from the off and win COYWM

Would love to see us show our swagger. Show everyone that we're the elite team in the league. We've done it on occasion, Exeter and Carlisle but more often than not we just stay in the game/fend them off.
Prediction. 4 goals. Either 2-2 or 1-3 to us. Hope the latter.

Well for some reason OM I’m feeling unusually confident this weekend as I see all the runes finally falling into place. We’re getting our missing players back and have added strength with the recent signings. I think Collins will turn out to be the most inspired signing of recent years and should be an ideal partner for all our forwards whoever he plays with. It’s just about IE picking the right eleven now which is going to be tricky with so many options. Looking at everyone else’s fixtures tomorrow I feel it’s a must win to keep our place at the top because if we don’t we could be as much as 8 points behind Pompey and even with 3 games in hand that’s a tough ask. I think the players know that so I fully expect them to show that swagger you mentioned and come home with all the points. 😁

Here’s a radical thought. Evatt has a selection issue because, now, with players coming back, the bench is as strong as the starters. What about making the substitutions at half time? That way the substitutes are not thrown in when everyone else has warmed up after the break and it will disrupt whatever plans the opposition has hatched at half time. Players who know they’ll be substituted can give their all for 45 minutes.

Players who know they’ll be substituted can give their all for 45 minutes. Interesting thought wots but not something you could realistically do. It takes time for players to get going and if you put out a completely new team at HT the opposition, already fully up and running would likely murder them. I think changes after 60 minutes is fine and gives the subs ample time to get into the game and make a difference but I still wouldn’t like to see 5 changes every game which is still far too many for me. I think IE’s biggest problem is going to be who to leave out altogether because we’re going to have a number of “first team” players who aren’t even going to get on the bench, especially if we need a keeper there too. Add in that we have loan players like Taylor, Ramsey, Ashworth and Ogbeta who their clubs will expect to play and the problem increases. For example, Rico is back soon and I can’t see IE dropping either Geth or Toal for Taylor and with Forester also fit now, how’s he going to play without our permanent players getting frustrated? The last thing we need is dissatisfaction in the camp when we’re pushing for a promotion place but I can see that happening if we’re not very careful.

Looking at everyone else’s fixtures tomorrow I feel it’s a must win to keep our place at the top I agree with what you say there, Whites. All our main competitors have winnable matches today so it is essential that we win. It will be interesting to see how much he deviates away from the team which started against Cambridge. There may be some changes as I would expect Ashworth and Dempsey to be in the starting line-up. Upfront, I desperately want it to be Charles and Collins but, for some reason unknown to me, the manager likes to start with Adeboyejo. A keeper on the subs bench is essential and please do not leave Bodvarsson out totally. He has the class to affect games. Looking at our squad, we really should be capable of a win but also we have the occasional hiccup which leaves us scratching our heads. I suppose that all teams have little hiccups in their performances so let’s hope that it’s Portsmouth and Derby’s turn for a shock result. We are more than capable of a win and with 2 home games coming up, now is the time to show the rest of the league that we are the best. After those 2 home games, we have 5 out of 6 away so we need to rack up the points. I am confident today (as always!) and will go for a 2-0 win.

So 16 minutes in at the Man City v Everton game City are 71% possession Zero shots at all Haaland, Alvarez and Foden have barely touched the ball and most of the play has been in City’s half Everton have gunned down every move with the high press Seems familiar? You bet it does Substitute those sky blue shirts for the whites of Wanderers and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were watching us at the ReeMacSheet, without the expensive qualities of City It’s got a look of ‘anti-football’ to me and I’m bored already No doubt City will win 3-0 I’m sure 😬😬😬

Disappointed to see JDC not starting but I suppose we have to test Ramsey at some po8nt and it might as well be against a Cobblers weakend by 8njuries but at least he’s on the bench. Not really surprised at IE going with Dion and Vic and we’ll obviously see Collins at some point but let’s hope it’s not when we’re chasing a goal but looking for more?
