Peterboro losing. barnsley losing. Pompey and Derby winning, but Pompey hardly running riot at Carlisle. scored from only shot on target.

Is this going to be another Cavalry game. play crap for 60 mins..then send the cavalry for a quick 10-15 flash from the 4 or 5 subs that overwhelm essentially weak opposition. and then they claim he's a managerial genius for lobbing on all these subs. Jona Lewie incoming if we nick another, as we so easily could. seen it so many times before.

Pompey 1-0 FT but still just that one shot on target all game. Derby finished 1-1, so even if we don't nick a late one, we'll have consolidated our gains. gained on Peterboro and Barnsley and not lost any to Derby.

Spirited 2nd half.
Could have won it but also could have lost it the last minute

Barnsley got a late winner to spoil it but Derby and Posh results good for us. Very poor game that though and for me two points very definitely thrown away. Message to Evatt. Don’t start newbies and kids together like Ramsey, Taylor and Ashworth it’s just asking for trouble. If anybody was in any doubt how much we miss Rico today proved it. Happy with a point in the end but oh how bad was that?

Piss poor and not the sort of performance you expect with the squad Evatt has
From minute 1 we were crap and only improved after the break when that dead donkey Adeboyejo went off, seriously Ian, get rid
Dempsey poor Ramsey awful - CMG not much better Ashworth poor Toal poor Dion - headless chicken yet again Less said about the dirtiest player in the top 3 leagues - Thomasson
If we were to win 3 games in hand, it gives us a 2 point advantage over Pompey which is terrible when you consider it could be 6 had we beaten Barnsley and The Cobblers
Am I happy with a point? Definitely not, even from the position of a goal down and a man down, the Cobblers were like watching Salford 3 years ago
We were awful for 80% of that game 4 shots on target in almost 100 minutes with our front men - crap
Unlucky fir some (13th) Wycombe up next, just as they’re finding form with a 5-2 demolition of our promotion rivals Peterborough, that should be interesting and if Adeboyejo starts, I’ll chase Evatt into the car park😡😡😡
Could have lost that at the death with that chance they had

You have to be happy with a point from that game.
We had a shocking first half, followed by a spirited second half.
We started terribly.
Dempsey just stood off (I guess he thought Jones would get a loose ball on the edge on the box but it was Dempsey’s ball to clear). He then made his mistake worse by conceding a free kick. The free kick hit the post, Ashworth missed the rebound and then Toal inexplicably froze for a couple of seconds and allowed their guy to get a good shot in. A shocking goal to concede.
We could have equalised immediately. Thomason broke but tried passing instead of shooting. Our passing today was just not good so the chance was wasted.
Charles did an excellent turn and run but shot just wide but really Northampton looked dangerous all the half.
Thomason then lived up to reputation and dived in for a challenge and caught the man. They played on it and the ref sent him off. A harsh decision but stupid by Thomason. That will be 5 out of 6 matches that he will have missed due to suspension.
And so we played with 10 men and looked awful. The defence was so sloppy. Coleman was jittery and the ball pinged into our area too often.
Half time they had 8 shots to our 1 which summed up a rotten half of football.
The manager was then apparently sent off at half time.
Second half we changed shape. The majorly disappointing Ramsay and the permanently average Adeboyejo were subbed and Collins and Mendes-Gomez came on.
We played with pace – particularly down the right and, at last, pushed Northampton back.
Jones then hit the post when Collins set him up. Easier to score than hit the post – a la Charles at Orient.
Suddenly, we were well on top and Toal hit a remarkable shot which the keeper tipped over. From the corner the ball bounced loose and Mendes-Gomez bravely headed in.
So could we win?
No but we tried and then we should have lost it in the last minute when from another ridiculously given free kick, their man poked the ball inches wide.
As I said, we have to be satisfied in the end with a point but it is 2 points dropped.
Marks:-
Coleman - 4 Bag of nerves. No fault on the goal but he looked so shaky
Ramsay - 3 Just nothing. We missed Dacres-Cogley badly
Jones - 6 Missed a sitter. Copied Charles at Orient by hitting the post when he had an empty net. But he played well and started the 2nd half fight back with some good runs
Taylor - 5 OK but ambled about too much for me. He has already learned the Santos “stand on the ball” technique
Toal - 5 Should have cleared the goal. Too hesitant
Ashworth - 5 He is not an attacking wing back. I know he scored in the last 2 matches but he creates little danger to the opposition
Sheehan - 5 Struggled to get forward passes going
Dempsey - 3 Made 3 bad mistakes in the 1st half – all 20 yards from our goal. The 1st one led to their goal. A poor performance
Thomason - 2 Just plain stupid
Adeboyejo - 3 When we are down to 10 men, we needed someone to hold the ball up. He can’t do that
Charles - 5 Very busy. A couple of good breaks
Collins - 6 Set up Jones for a major chance and almost scored at the end
Mendes-Gomez - 6 Started brightly, faded a bit but then showed great bravery to get in for the headed equaliser
Iredale - 6 Looked good when he came on.

I’m only glad of the point, not happy. Based on that last minute effort they had, that could have stolen the point we earned
Portsmouth are accidentally crawling toward lifting the league trophy with little worry, when all around them keep on fluffing their lines
I guarantee we will not make these games in hand count, just see
What is it with our football?? We can be world beater in one game (Exeter) then look relegation favourites the next (todays first half)
Where has our goal scoring gone and why can we not bag a goal or 2 in the opening quarter of an hour.
I have to say that if Evatt doesn’t start with Collins and JDB, we will struggle for goals against Wycombe, but looking at todays back line, the other Wanderers will have a field day if we start like today. I’d even put Baxter with a bandage on than Coleman (although he did keep us in the game with a save near the end)
