Took Peterborough 54 minutes to go 4 up against Cambridge, eventually running out 5-0 winners
Barnsley thumped these 4-0 away
They do get beat at home often and are in the bottom 5 for goals scored (25)
When they need to they can grind out the odd draw here and there (Derby Portsmouth)
They’ve just signed 2 goal scorers in Lyle Taylor and Macauley Bonne (once highly rated) Taylor with a brace on his last outing v Shrewsbury AND they did it with just 39% possession, so Evatt’s game might just suit them We have to start immediately on the front foot with AC / DC & JDB for good measure
Goals win games
COYWM Can we do this⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Yet another “must win” game for me.
For a long time, we have seen the games in hand as being an indication of us being “top” of the league. Well tonight is one of the games in hand so we need to make it count.
We are playing a mid-table team away who will not make it easy but, if we are to be classed as the best team in the league, we must win.
There are rumours that Baxter sustained an injury on Saturday (hopefully that will teach the manager that we must have a keeper on the bench!). If he is injured, Coleman is a reasonable deputy – not as outstanding as Baxter has been but still good.
If Jones is fit, he will return which I assume means that Taylor will drop down to the bench.
The manager has mentioned some injuries so there might be a shuffle of wing backs.
I expect Thomason to return and replace Maghoma.
Upfront is the interesting one. I would play Charles and Collins.
When you look at our squad, we certainly have the quality and, despite any injuries, we should be capable of getting a good win.
I will go for a 2-1 win.

I get what Ian is saying about us when we are on it we are hard to beat but I don't think Victor is our system type of forward he's more of a in box finisher and by the time we get the ball in the box it's crowded and he gets forced of the ball more times than not. I keep reading that there's a player in there trying to get out I just wish he would hurry up about it. Maybe tonight drop Victor or Dion and start with Collins maybe if things are going pear shaped fetch which ever one on early in the second half but fingers crossed not Jerome as he should be with the coaching team. Win tonight and we are second I keep thinking about our Wembley win just how quick we got the ball forward and didn't give Plymouth time to settle what's wrong with that ? COYWM 3-1 win

Having not won at home on the weekend does give this a must win feel. I'm not sure if it's a mental block or plain bad luck but we never seem to be able to get poll position and then get a few points in front. Always seems we've got a cup replay, a EFL Trophy game allowing Pompey and others to get thier games in.
Before the Portsmouth game I did wrong assume that the two of us would ebb and flow and have a duel for the top spot. Now there's 5 teams could all do it.
I am excited for tonight but know that excitement will be depleted if we stick with Vic and Dion. I know a lot will call for Dion. I'm not sure. Maybe playing with Collins could give him a shot in the arm but he's looked pretty out of sorts since that Fratton Park miss. I'm not convinced if he got the chance that Vic did against Chelthenham that he scores it.
You could even argue JDB may be in with a chance after all the double sub really changed the game at the weekend.
Not sure. Either one of the 3 but Collins has to play.

I’d be worried if he started with Vic and Kachunga scored against us!! That would really get my back up
As I’ve said on the other thread, I’m worried about tonight! Should I be?? Crappy ground, probably 7000 crowd, chance if a homer ref, they go at us from the off and destabilise our back 3 as seems to be the norm these days (everyone’s sussed us out Ian)
Cannot see Ian being told what to do and it’s dead obvious he’s read all the comments to his piece on not changing his style (up to 99 comments as I type) so for me, I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t start with Dion & Vic, just to show us

Same old same old Vic and Dion nothing is going to change no matter what happens it’s Ian’s way or the highway and that’s it us as fans will just have to suck it up and just keep on cheering and hoping COYWM

Pitch is really heavy in patches. And we seem to be passing the ball back in those patches.
Not the game for it. May get abandoned this if it doesn't ease.

I'm not sure if it's a mental block or plain bad luck but we never seem to be able to get poll position and then get a few points in front. Hmm. More bad luck. We are going to have a non stop hectic schedule. 18 games in what 12 weeks?

It had to be abandoned.
The conditions were farcical.
I know that it’s another match to be rearranged but we may have all our players fit by then so no complaints from me.

Right decision to be fair that pitch is lethal and the game would have just been a lottery which we can’t afford. You just have to feel for fans who made it tonight, hope they get back safely and at least the players went on and applauded them.

Well the night turned out better than we thought with Posh and Stevenage both doing us a favour and losing. I know the games are stacking up but with the squad we have now we could probably field two teams that could beat anybody else in this league?
