Well this year's final.
Peterborough vs Wycombe.
Not to scoff. Bit it seems, as it is tin pot.
In hypothetical land I could see us taking 12-20,000 back to Wembley but think it really would have hit a tough sell to big up Bolton vs Wycombe or Posh.
I'm glad we went out as we did, the way we did. I only hope that we aren't in this next year and if so get out. I think we did over stretch our small squad, paid the price and then left with this ironically large squad that probably is adept to cup runs and league.
Was nice to be in the FA Cup 3rd round. Happy with that, but no more replays. Sorry purist but it's a modern world. Don't even think the TV Companies like the replay games. Most are dull affairs from the first and if there's a cup upset, rather than take the team back to thier/our place like in the olden times why not just do it on the day. Stick 5 penalties in and knock your giant killing out. That will get you attention for the next round for TV money and enjoy your night.

I’m afraid I’m a bit of a traditionalist myself OM especially where the FA Cups concerned. The PL has ruined everything football in this country for me and whilst the FA Cups not what it was it’s still the most important and probably best known cup competition in the world. It’s the one real opportunity for minnows to play giants and the prospect of a replay after a spirited home draw for lowly based clubs fans and players to have both the experience and financial benefits of playing at the likes of Old Trafford or Anfield is too much to give away just for the benefit of the big clubs. We’re not a minnow but even we can recall our cup exploits at these grounds in the White Hot years and other times, so no just leave thevFA Cup as the one competition that retains some form of equality and ambition.

For me the Premier League couldn't give a toss about any of the cups apart from Champions League and Premiership survival as for the smaller teams that get to Premiership they want to stay there. Even we did it with the Lisbon game we rested players and still lost to the pie eaters on the Sunday in the league. There is no answer to what should be done even the scum was aloud to pull out of the FA Cup to play in the world team cup which they lost. I love the FA Cup but sadly it's not a priority for some teams.

Completely agree with all that chip it’s all about the PL now for the bigger clubs but I was looking at it more from the point of lower league and even non league teams for whom it’s still the biggie. Why take away the dreams and quite often big pay days just to suit the likes of the scum who don’t care about it anyway?

Yes I'm for the lower league teams and to some extent the championship teams wanting the big pay day but I wonder if they could come up with the EFL Cup just for teams below the Premiership with a place in the Europa Conference League it might make that more interesting. Us fans will never win when it comes to the FA Cup as there is to much money at stake in the Premiership as we all know money makes the world go round.

Sadly chip you’re spot on about the fans not winning. Above the Championship now football isn’t about sport but business and unless that changes which is highly unlikely, the rich will keep getting richer and the poorer the reverse. On that basis whilst your suggestion of a place in the Europa makes perfect sense you’d never get it because you’d be taking away a place for a PL club. It’s the same when suggested about the FA Cup and that will never happen either even though a cub below the PL is never likely to win it. Frankly I don’t watch or read anything about the PL, it just annoys and disgusts me whenever I think about the absurd amount of money squandered in wages and bonuses compared to the rest of footy. ☹️

Anyway, enough about the FA Cup, are we going to continue our winning run on Saturday and for me that’s a decisive yes. I think 5hat victory at Cambridge will have really lifted spirits and with Rico hopefully back in tow should settle the defence down. The Blackpool camp is not a happy one it seems with Critchley definitely not flavour of the month and suggestions that a defeat on Saturday may be the end of him there. We could be playing them at just the right time after there woeful defeat to posh the other night so if we can start we’ll and get an early lead you can bet the crowd will be on their backs. I know we haven’t won there for ages but what a good time it would be to turn that round? 😁

With league clubs, most recently, Derby, Wigan, Reading, Bolton, Bury and now these non leaguers struggling to stay afloat, where will football be in a decades time? I’ve always moaned about the health of football, there must be at least 15-20 league clubs sailing close to the wind with the threat of administration hanging over them! Clubs with foreign owners that are not investing sensibly or sustainably and there’s a few of them like Blackburn and Cardiff and then there’s so called community clubs like Fleetwood, Morecambe that have had worrying times, it makes you wonder, what’s the future going to look like when you hear these chairmen saying “I can’t fund the club any more” I can see Oldham being next, unless Frank dips his hands into that charity box when he did that sailing around the world adventure 😬😬 I do get angry though when the price of a weeks salary for the injured Grealish and DeBruyne could save maybe 10 clubs from going under Football does need to wake up and have a rethink on whether it can sustain 4 leagues, then non league!! Or have they already seen into the future with this ‘Supa-League’ ??

Was reminded that the next round of the FA Cup is played mid week. Bloody hell I'm relatively open to new ideas but who thought of that? Anyway. Just realised I posted in the BSM trophy but ironically this is the next fixture. Wonder why you said enough of the cup talk and brought it back to the league. Sure that will get its own place shortly.
