tough one. Supercomputer has Sheff wed as favourites for it, and obviously the game has far more on it for them.
don't know how much to believe with these odd comments from IE about injuries and scraping the barrel. is it mind games. seems pretty bad management if it isn't to be talking down the replacements.
still seeing very little from Amaechi. Evatt has used mind games famously against Salford in the sky game at home last season when several key players were doubts but then all seemed to play. also Rotherham away post-covid in Jan, saying players were virtual wrecks..wheezing like mad, can't run...yet fairly surprised them in the first half, playing well above expectations.
seen this rumour about Charles. no idea on the credibility of the source. lots doubting it. but it's certainly a daft thing to say , as it'll soon get proved wrong if it's not right, and your credibility is zero. so does make you wonder ?!
Bannan key player for them obviously. apparently Luongo is another one of their better ones. "runs the show in midfield and too good for this Div" was what one of the pundits on Quest said about him a few weeks ago. they lack a striker in the top bracket of the goal charts.
prediction :
all about the first goal. our record is still ridiculous when we get it, but we don't get the first one enough. even worse away !!. 9 times ( out of 20) at home we have scored first. 9 wins. 10 times we've not scored first ( at home) . 1 win. ( must be a 0-0 somewhere ).
i'll go for a 2-1 defeat. might need to revise it if see a stronger team & it has been mindgames about some of the injuries. etc

Interesting rumour about Charles. I can absolutelt see it being credible. When you look back to that early purple patch you had Trafford and co looking for Charles, direct ball and he was thriving.
The more we do at Lostock the more the old ponderous ways seem to creep in. The lack of urgency for the first goal and weve picked back up that awful habbit of conceding first again. Charles now looks like a Doyle 2.0.
Then IE coming out and saying strikers missing chances affects the defence. Hes again bigging uo Rico Santos. Has he ever digged him out? He certainly doesnt see the games the way AndyL does.
If its true surely more alarm bells ringing for Sharon and Co. Are we really going to let this guy keep giving away assets because they clash. And why are they clashing.
Could all be BS. We'll see.

seen this rumour about Charles. no idea on the credibility of the source. lots doubting it. but it's certainly a daft thing to say , Wasn't this just a case of 2+2=5? There were rumours circulating that something was happening about Charles so Mr Twitter and his mates had a guess and decided it was another bust-up. In reality, it was an announcement about his disciplinary hearing with respect to old Tweets so no issue there at all. Incidentally, wasn't he lucky - the Peterborough owner is going mad because his star striker was banned for 4 matches for similar "offences"!

I think it was an appropriate action for historic events. If the two offences were that similar then the Posh owner(when is he not rallying against something) is more unlucky.

A match that 3 weeks or so ago looked like a play-off cracker.
All that has gone now with our recent performances so it could be an end of season stroll for us but Wednesday definitely need all 3 points so I am looking forward to the game.
I am assuming that Santos, Afolayan and Dempsey will be replaced by Aimson, Kachunga and Williams. Maybe Thomason may get a start.
Despite all our concerns over Santos – AndyL – and I also don’t think he is the bees knees, losing him and replacing him at the centre of defence with Aimson leaves us considerably weaker.
The manager has reverted to his “everyone is injured/ill” mode which I think is a negative approach to the match unless, of course, it is all psychology.
We have had some good games against Wednesday over the years. I am old enough to remember Freddie Hill dribbling from the corner flag, along the bye line and scoring an amazing goal against them. Also the last game of the season in 1982 when we won 3-1 to avoid relegation.
Wednesday are no great shakes away – their last 6 games – LLWWLD. Not outstanding is it. Mind you our home record has slipped recently – WWWDLD. Wednesday have shot up the league recently but partly because, strangely, they have had 7 home games out of the last 10 matches.
Should be a good atmosphere today with an excellent away following. Last time that happened? Sunderland so maybe, just maybe.
So a difficult match for us but let’s us rise to the occasions – a 3-2 win

I think it was an appropriate action for historic events. I agree that it was appropriate but that he was lucky compared to others who had been more severely punished for similar/identical offences. I agree that going back to when lads are 15, 16, 17 and retrospectively hitting them is ridiculous.

Morning all I know I'm a bit thick but could someone please explain what 2.0 is meant to mean I have seen it in various comments but don't know what it means. Onto today's game it's an end of season run around for us so I think that's what Sheffield Wednesday will give us the run around. Keep the score down and maybe grab a draw stay safe one and all onwards and upwards COYWM

We’ll I certainly hope the rumour about Dion isn’t true, we’re going to need him going forward. I wonder if his concern is the chopping and changing of partners he has. Has he actually partnered anybody in successive games? If not how can he possibly strike up a relationship? As for todays game, I think we may get walloped. Wednesday have really picked up recently and must be full of confidence whilst we seem to be ready for the beach and bereft of several key players. If Wednesday score early I fear for us so I’ll go 1-3 to the Owls.

well the Dion rumour proved to be a dud. I don't follow the account in question, but i'd certainly be unfollowing if i did. only thing that gave it credibility was the total drop off in form. even playing at 50% of his old self would still be useful, but he's not even been at that level. Bolton Pravda fm already at it. impressed that we've finished top of the 4 teams that came up !?!. blimey. while I don't want to get too much "divine right", and taking it for granted, there are a few too many going way to the other extreme making out we're a standard 4th Div club all of a sudden happy to be punching above our weight in L1. !?!. they even added if we remain undefeated against Wigan, Pompey and today sheff wed, "it proves we're heading in the right direction " . good grief !! such snivelling, nodding dog, sheep-like attitude. If IE had said we could win the final 8, like he did, they'd all be nodding in agreement. if anyone at that point said they couldn't they'd be slated for "lack of faith" " not true fans etc. what happened to rivarly, we're allowed to look at other similar sized clubs in our region, and expect similar things..Blackpool are in the Championship..staying up... & not spending fortunes. www.footballwebpages.co.uk/championship/attendanceswith 12k gates. Preston similar crowds. Blackburn even doing well and only getting 13k crowds. it works exactly the same the other way round, if you get in the Prem, we'd still be an over-performing Ch'ship club in many regards with all that challenges that presents. you might get semi established over a 5 yr spell. but 75% of the games you're 2nd fave, just like you're probably fave for 75% of Lge 2 games. back to todays game. i'll not revise my prediction- will keep it at 2-1 loss.

0-0 half-time this ref is a joke every single challenge we put in he blows up for a free kick to them and he's booked 2 of our players for nowt maybe they are getting fed up with Evatt having a go at them.

uh-oh ..conceded 1st goal again. just as we seemed to have stabilised a bit after yet another poor start.
2 shots on target by Bannan in 1st 11 mins. and think there was another decent shot wide early on.
still chance to nick a draw as we always seem to do better in the last 10 or 15 mins, but Sheff wed might just be the type of team who can control it better with their quality midfield.... Bannan & Luongo. not that we've seen much of that overall, as we're having more possession.
