they’ve just been hammered 5-0 in their last friendly It wasn't a friendly that MK Dons played against Bournemouth. It was the 1st round of the League Cup so a serious game, not loads of subs etc. Have a look at the goals that Bournemouth scored. bournemouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/afcb-v-mk-dons-highlights-reaction/ 4 of the 5 goals came from MK Dons trying to pass the the ball out at the back and they got caught 4 times and conceded 4 times. So we need to pressure them when the goalie has the ball.

Thanks for the video link. Bournemouth are in a different league from us(literally and metaphorically) and I doubt the MK Dons defence will be so generous next time out. Wouldn't read too much into that result. It could even be argued that as they have played a competitive match and we haven't, they may be slightly sharper. That said, I will still predict us to start with a win. Let's be positive and say...3-1.

I’ll have some of that one2 3-1 Oh yes COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Apols davidm, I never knew it was an actual cup game, maybe the MK didn’t play their first L1 team and just relied on youth and a few first teamers, hence the hammering, but regardless of that, I do expect us to win and I will take a solitary goal if that’s what it takes

Just looking at the MK Dons squad
Josh McEcharan Mo Eisa Max Watters And now Troy Parrott from Spurs There’s certainly plenty of goals in there
We’re gonna have our work cut out on Saturday and it certainly won’t be a given that we record a win, I’m convinced we will, but we’ll have to be more than focused for this as they’ll have enough fire power Talk of Jody Morris becoming their next boss (not that I’m bovvered)

All individuals rftr but can they unite as a team? We don’t really have any individuals rather a team built to play together so I’m not really worried who they have. Yes, I’d like another striker because I’m not sure we have quite enough up top but I’m confident that we have goals from lots of areas which should compensate. I think we’ll enjoy a good start so I’ll go for a 3-1 win to the Whites.

I keep hearing this name, young Le Fondre, I’m not familiar with him, is he Adam’s son, brother, cousin, step??? Or no relation?? Can the real Adam Le Fondre not make a guest appearance for us once again, he’d still be worth a shout even at his age
Still feel we are going to be a wee bit shot shy and low on goals for a few months or until we splash out and bring someone in that knows the onion bag well.
I’d love a 3-1 but I’m not so sure

On another subject, but a valid one, whenever I read the daily Beeb gossip column, it’s always, Southampton have bid £20m for an unknown 16 year old kid from Huddersfield or Newcastle have bid £30m for another 17 year old from Doncaster, Arsenal £30m for yet another from Birmingham I am digressing of course, but when will a team be taking a kid from Bolton and setting us on a better financial footing. Maybe Dapo might just be that jewel in the crown, Brockers or Pollers perhaps
Don’t want to offload any of our players of course, but football is a business as we all know.

I think the club has every intention of selling young players rftr and the likes of Dapo, Rico and DP are good examples. Tying them to 3 year contracts is a wise move because at least then we’ll be able to command a decent fee. I even think the likes of Sheehan and John in their mid twenties could fetch decent fees if they deliver here. I think for a few years we’re just going to have to accept that that’s the way it’s going to be.

Nearly there guys and really buzzing for the game. The only thing that can spoil it today, other than a bad result, is the weather which looks like being atrocious so I hope it doesn’t rain too hard and spoil our “homecoming” party!! It would be just typical to have a downpour and force the game off so let’s hope it doesn’t rain on our parade?

At last, the proper return of football.
3 o’clock today will be special, let us hope that 5 o’clock is too.
Some interesting team selection decisions to be made.
- Is Gilks fit?
- Is Santos fit?
- Is Doyle fit?
- How do we get Williams, Lee, Sarcevic, Thomason and Sheehan into a midfield 3?
- Likewise, Doyle, Bakayoko and Kachunga for 1 central striking role.
Difficult decisions.
There has been quite a bit pf pessimism (realism?) about – “happy if we stay up”, “happy with mid-table”. Come on everybody, we are a good squad.
At the end of last season, it was probably only me and whitesince63 who were optimistic and expected automatic promotion.
So I continue in optimistic mode and expect a top 6 finish this season.
Regarding today, I mentioned last week about MK Dons’ defeat at Bournemouth in the league cup last Saturday that 4 of the 5 goals they conceded were because they messed about at the back and got caught so lets pressure them.
I will go for a 2-0 win.

I’ll take that early point Always important not to get beat in your first game, especially at home and for the first time in 500plus days with fans in the ground
Very tough opener, but not a defeat, so very very encouraging
Well done Trotters Would love to see a Britton Cam just to see the elation in her face at the size of the crowd and the goals we scored. Just hope this gives her more of an impetus to invest or find investors to push us on as clearly, she knows she’s on to a winner with BWFC and this must go down as one of her best ever business judgements investing in the Wanderers

It was certainly a positive game with an exciting finale.
It was also littered with errors. They gifted at least two open goals by messing about at the back.
That said Johnston gifted their first before redeeming himself by a splendid goalline clearance.
I was excited to see Sheehan. He took a while to get into it but when he did what a free kick. In fact had Dapo looked up and fed him simple passes in the second half he'd have had more
Bakoyako also impressed and his forcrful shot after John's excellent interception and cross was excellent. We thought that was a winner. Just as well it went over Doyle.
In truth the whole game was the proverbial curate's egg. Good and bad. I thought Sarcevic and Doyle looked too slow at times. Both missed gilt edged chsnces dwelling on gifts.
Doyle set up by Dapo and fortune missed his easiest chance firing wide early in the second half. I thought our latest signimg added a bit late on, denied one chance by Sarcevic. However when Jones at last got a cross somehere in the zone it was knocked back for Baptiste to tap in. No less than a spirited effort deserved.
I haven't mentioned Gilks yet. For obvious reasons! That free kick went in at a snail's pace. A retirement game.
Gilks 0 Jones 5 Johnston 7 Baptiste 7 John 7 Williams 7 Sheehan 8 Sarcevic 4 Doyle 5 Dapo 6 Bakoyako 7

What a game.
You feel disappointed with only a point but so relieved to get one at the very end.
We played quite well, had some reasonably good half chances which we missed and defensively were slack.
In fairness, MK Dons were a decent side. They were ridiculous at the back with constant tippy tappy play between goalie and defender. We could, maybe should, have scored from a couple of those mistakes.
First half, Johnston tried to dribble out of the area, was caught and MK scored from a tight angle. Goalie?
We could have conceded again when Baptiste slipped and left MK clean through. They got round Gilks but Johnston redeemed himself by clearing off the line.
We got back in it when Sheehan curled a lovely free kick in.
MK insisted on passing the ball between the goalie and the defenders. We caught them twice when first Doyle and then Sheehan and Sarcevic together failed with the ball at their feet in the area.
Half Time 1-1; a fair score
Second half was again end to end – credit MK for that.
We scored when John was wide awake and intercepted a pass; broke forward and played the ball into the area for Doyle. Doyle totally missed the ball which went on to Bakayoko who scored well.
Credit MK for they came back strongly. Bakayoko gave away a stupid free kick on the edge of the area and their player somehow scored. Goalie?
Still end to end at his stage and MK scored again when Sheehan appeared to be fouled, ref waved play on and MK broke up the left (not for the first time in this match). The ball was played in and despite having men in the box, MK’s sub received the ball with his back to goal and turned and scored. Pretty poor defending.
And we thought that was it but in the 95th minute the ball was played to left of goal and Kachunga somehow hooked it back for Baptiste to roll into an empty net.
Full time 3-3. A great match. A draw a deserved result. It all made up for the absolute drenching I got before and then after the match.
Great game
Marks:-
Gilks - 5 Maybe I need to see the TV highlights but I thought he was slow to attempt to get to the first 2 goals. Of course, he has had little or no pre-season.
Jones - 5 MK had much too much space down their left. Perhaps he got no help from Bakayoko. His centering was awful in the second half when he failed to make the most of good opportunities.
John - 6 A great interception to set up the 2nd goal. Like Jones, he didn’t get much help from Afolayan.
Johnston - 5 Bad mistake for the 1st goal. His passing out from the back also left a lot to be desired. Great save when MK were clean through after Baptiste slip.
Baptiste - 6 Steady. Slip in the 1st half could have put us 2 down.
Williams - 6 Steady but a few times, particularly in the 2nd half, MK just passed through our midfield.
Sarcevic - 6 Very busy. Shot just wide in 1st half.
Sheehan - 6 Great goal but anonymous for a lot of the game.
Afolayan - 5 Disappointing performance. Didn’t link with John enough. Put in a terrible pass when a pass to Sheehan would have given an open goal.
Bakayoko - 6 Very very left footed. Got niggly with the MK defenders. Took his goal well.
Doyle - 6 Ran his socks off. Doesn’t look quite match fit. A couple of half chances that didn’t go in.
Isgrove - 5 Had a great chance just after coming on but messed it up.
