Hugely disappointed reason being we were so poor 2nd half. The commentators called it when they said if Bolton get a 2nd its game over Carlisle wont come back. We never got close.
Were a glutton for punishment. Giving them so many chances from corners, long throws, set pieces because we just couldnt find a white shirt or the out ball.
The predetermined subs came on at the predetermined times. Fonz for Dapo 65m, Elbo for Isgrove 70m. Dapo ran the show for 45mins then didnt see the ball 2nd half. No wonder i dont see tutte ever warming up.
If Carlisle were fighting tooth and nail to keep thier playoff hopes alive where was the quick breaks to exploit the over commitment?
JulieMoores on the BN said shes never seen us win two halves of football in the same game. Theres definite truth to that.
By the way disregard my no need to panic thread. The threat is real even if we beat Morecambe we cant play like that otherwise Exeter and Crawley can do a Grimsby. But give a team like Morecambe 13 corners in a half of football and we will not be ending the season on May 8th.
Cannot see Sarcevic going from zero time to starting XI so fully expect the same squad DJ permitting.
No way Jones and Dapo were as bad as Andy says. No player really played badly as such. Maybe Doyle was the worst, match winner but hardly involved and some bad touches and control.
The subs were ineffective, the game was taken from us. So ratings I'd go 6s across the board, 8 for Baps, 4 for subs(HB on a 6) and for allowing that 2nd half performance give Evatt a 3.
Now lets stop this nonsense of no GK. The risk is now way too great for the reward of Delaney. If a CB gets injures we can use Brockbank, MJ or Jones and move Lee. Lots of options that wont ruin the season. Put any of them between the sticks and you do just that. Ok in October to Jan when you can make the points back. Not now.

Having just witnessed a knife cutting through candy floss (Morecambe ripping Grimsby to shreds highlights) and bearing in mind our profligacy in the Grimsby game, this Saturdays game v The Shrimps is a real worry for us Trotters as there’s not a chance in this world of us defending a 1 goal lead with their potent attacking force. Baptiste and Santos will be knackered after 20 minutes That Grimsby loss could have far greater consequences as in, if we drop into the play offs following a loss at Morecambe we’ll struggle to bounce back attempting to get 1-0 results v Exeter and Crawley whilst Morecambe score for fun against Walsall and Bradford
This Saturday is a must not lose game, despite W63’s opposition of my concerns that defeat will leave us in a tough place to get back into the top 3. I won’t accept a draw as all other teams have an easier run in This is where Ian Evatt has to get everything right and the players must give everything on the pitch
It almost has the feel of the play off final COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

I’m not sure where you got the impression that i said if we lose to Morecambe we won’t be left in a tough place rftr and if I have written that anywhere, I take it back, because it would be more than tough to get back into the top three from there. Like you I see Saturday as a must win, especially as over the last few games, Morecambe's handsome wins have completely turned the goals difference situation round. We could end up ruing all those missed chances and the “well 1-0 is still 3 points brigade” will be proved wrong. Whilst true, we can’t always rely on one goal getting us through. That said though, I’m actually, rather stupidly, feeling quite confident that we’ll beat Morecambe. At least they should try to play football rather than head tennis and our defence should cope much better with that, as long as IE puts Lee back in his normal position in midfield next to MJ. We know though what a stubborn bugger he is and despite almost everyone being able to see that’s our best line up, it’s almost like he’s trying to prove everybody wrong and him right by trying to fit George in instead. There comes a time when even good players have to be sidelined for the benefit of the team and that should happen to George. It was only a few weeks ago, when we were winning, that both George and Arthur came on after 60 minutes and actually positively impacted the game but now we have the likes of Zeb and Fonz coming on and contributing nothing and in fact unsettling and weakening the team. Assuming no injuries, I expect to see the same starting eleven again but I hope I’m wrong and Ian can see the need to go back a step. If Sarcevic is fit to start, which I hope he is, then George might miss out but I think it might at least give us a chance to get a lead before he’s replaced on the hour.

As per previous post I think we will beat Morecambe and probably convincingly so. We cannot play as badly as against Carlisle or as nervously as at Grimsby. Sooner or later we are going to score some goals.
I am unconvinced by the reports in the press and indeed here that we played at all decently last night. I thought I saw two really poor teams, blundering about with some good BWFC possession on the right flank in the first half with Isgrove looking quite threatening to a complete retrenchment in the second where we couldn't keep the ball at all.
When I reflect on the Dapo performance, whereas I can see that several times in the first half he kicked off and beat a man or two, most of the time with head down he took on another and lost it facilitating a breakway. I didn't see him get tot he bye line as Isgrove and Jones were doing. He won but also looked for a number of free kicks, went down flamboyantly and took a dive in an attempt to secure a penalty when being outmuscled. When he swapped wings with Isgrove for ten minutes or so, we did get through once or twice on Isgrove's side but on Jones he clogged things up and kept looking for Doyle who pretty much lost out on every encounter.
As for the referees not protecting him, he could always man up and stop diving.. Soon after he arrived with us he tried some shots. We haven't seen any decent ones in ages- last night's looked as if it deflected, which happily took the pace off and allowed Doyle to appear not be in his habitual offside position, although some seem to argue that he actually was was offside.
So Dapo gets one point for that shot and one for injecting some life into the early proceedings. Any more would be gratuitous, he was awful and worse he took Lee Thomason and John out of meaningful action time and time. That's what I think I saw- have to respect others' pereceptions but that's the detail of my argument.
All in all I thought we watched two pretty limited Div 2 sides in action last night. If we offered glimpses of coherence on the right in the first half or if Lee and Thomason at times swirled the ball from right to left quite well or ensured continuity at throw ins ( Lee is excellent) then that was as good as it got. Our set pieces and last balls were just horrible and we were really dodgy at the back.
To my mind we had just a couple of Div 1 plus attributes. I thought Santos at times in the first half was superb striding out of defence into midfield and beyond and was our greatest positive asset ( albeit very flaky defensively and weak aerially at both ends). Not for the first time I wondered could he develop into a Viera/Toure like midfielder at the lower levels- such strength and skill on the ball. Also Lee and Thomason , with the former in the wrong position and the latter exposed far too often for speed and solidity when defending, looked the part.
Baptiste was for me very much the Div 2 man of the match without remotely convincing that he can step up a league or indeed ever could, of which w have some evidence. Last night in my opinion he almost singlehandedly won us the points when Dapo, Doyle and Jones should have put the match to bed but miserably failed to do so.

I did read it wrong W63, my apologies, I mentioned that “I fear we’d drop into the play offs” and your reply was “Actually, I don’t” so I take it back pal Ian Evatt could do no worse than buy Keith Curle a socially distanced pint of John Willie Lees whilst kindly asking to borrow a video of Oldham’s defeat to Morecambe where they went 4-1 down before a late fight back almost rewarded them with an unlikely point, just proving that Morecambe can be gotten at, but do we have the grit and determination to see past them? We’ve really got to go at them from the off, something we don’t usually do Not reading too much into it but the following teams top 3 scorers are Cambridge = 48 Exeter = 41 Morecambe & Crawley = 38 Oldham = 36 Trashmere = 34 BOLTON = 33 FGR = 30 Cheltenham = 28 Newport = 24 Ironically the total goals against column makes for decent reading Oldham = 72 Grimsby = 62 Colchester = 60 Morecambe = 57 Sucnthorpe = 57 BOLTON = 47 Salford have the tightest defence with = 33 goals against Attitude and application will conquer all COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
