sat 28/11. k.o 3pm
Southend are bottom of the Lge . on 5 pt's. 6 pt's adrift of safety already.
played 13. won 1. drew 2. lost 10. no other team has even lost 8. they've scored 6 goals. & conceded 26. both are worst records in this Div.
so they are easily the worst team in the Div. complacency is our only enemy.
they are averaging 5 shots on target conceded per game, and 2 goals conceded per game. they've failed to score in 8 of their 13 lge games. & kept just 1 clean sheet.
the most positive case you could make FOR them is. they only lost their last game 1-0 to high flying Forest Green, and the previous game to that was a 1-0 away win ( to Walsall ).
WE HAVE SCORED IN 8 OF OUR LAST 9 LGE GAMES..just blanking in the Orient game.
we've scored 14 lge goals now. : Doyle 4. Sarce 3. Delf 3 Kioso 2 Crawford 1 o.g 1 ( vs salford)
10 assists : Crawford 4 all these 6 have 1 each. Sarce, Delf, Kioso. Doyle, Jones, Gnahoua.
prediction : if we got an early breakthrough, this could be a chance to get 3 or 4. i'll go 2-0.

I don’t think anybody could seriously forecast anything other than a home win for this. Wanderers are finally starting to look a team, both in attack and more especially defence. They now look mentally strong rather than the fragility shown in earlier games. We still don’t score enough goals but again, in the last few games we have at least been creating chances, something we didn’t do earlier in the season, so sooner or later we must start taking them and this games ideal for it. It’s hard to overestimate the contribution having Gilks in goal has made, the defenders now have someone behind them that they can rely on and his constant prompting clearly ensures they retain shape. I was nervous about last nights game but not about this one so I’m going all out for a 3-0 win to the Whites.

Shame to see Sam Ricketts get the bullet at Shrewsbury, always thought he was the next big thing
Like him or loathe him Joey Barton seems to be doing the business at Fleetwood, I wouldn’t have minded him here
I see Tom Eaves AND Josh Magennis (remember him?) on the scoresheet at Hull last night

I’m sure he’ll soon be back somewhere else so good luck to him.

rtf, dare I use this game as a banker? They are only 9/2 against with 365. Hardly something to write home about. We are favs though.
I'll go with 2-0 as well. I feel as confident as Baptiste with Gilks in goal.
I suppose this could be the content of another thread, but 'what now for Crellin?'.
My other question is: 'Did Gilks come to BWFC on his own contract, or is he part of the Crellin loan?'.
btw, I'm minus 10% after last night. Just like they do at the banks. lol

I was almost tempted to get a bet on after the first 20 mins. one way traffic. quite relieved I didn't towards end of 1st half. but without Van Veen, they didn't have enough threats. this one should be safe. just a bit nervy. we had a bit of luck with no VV, then playing 10 men near end as their sub got injured. just wary of the luck evening out . but if you can't risk this, you can't risk anything.

Dont think thats the case. Sure Gilks came first and recommended Crellin. I do think its odd that now, when we can use 16 players from a squad, we chose to put a GK on the bench when we didnt previously.
Ok at 38 Gilks is more likely to pick up a knock than a Crellin. But think there has to be something that says Crellin as to be in the squad.
Ive no idea on the penalty for not playing Crellin or for an early release but whatever it is its small fry compared to missing out on promotion.
Its hard to predict anything other than a win and if we turn up we win this fixture 9 times in 10. I do worry because we do make it hard but cant imagine Liverpool and City fans thinking "oh no, West Brom i hate these games".
We are no liverpool or city obviously but need a winners mentality.
Therefore we will win.

I agree OM but the improvement in the team really looks like the real thing this time. IE seems to have accepted that the likes of Crellin, Gordon and Comley aren’t worth persevering with and the emergence of Thomason and the success of Brocky and Jones down the left have given him options. I think the team is now beginning to gel as players start to understand each other. A settled side is also a plus, something we’ve not had for several years. If we can just add some firepower up front in January, we should have more than enough to see us to promotion but we can’t rely on 1-0 wins all the time because one slip up can cost, as it might have done at Scunny on Tuesday, once or twice. Successful teams win by more than the odd goal and that’s something we aren’t doing at the moment because we lack that cutting edge up top.

Well, there's no doubt an improvement on results recently, but let's not forget that these were teams below us and the margin was only the one goal in the last two games. I can't disagree that we need more firepower up front, or at least a few goals from midfield and defenders from set pieces.
There's no doubt that defensively they are more confident, probably from Gilks on field coaching. I'd still like to know more on this Crellin appointment. Obviously, he's out of favour, but where do we go from here with him? The next games will be a lot tougher and I don't see where he will fit in.
Whites get the greenhouse ready and check your messages.

Like you, I don’t believe for a minute that there isn’t some contractual reason that IE persevered so long and even now keeps him in the squad on match days. He has denied there is but I just don’t accept it. We’re getting a few goals from midfield through Sarcevic and Crawford but I agree we aren’t getting anything from our big defenders from set pieces, although Baptiste has been unlucky on a couple of occasions. Anyway, the greenhouse is there wots if you want to share it with the agapanthus and geraniums but it’s filling up fast?

Salford, Stevenage and S****horpe. We are on a roll against teams who start with the letter "S". Therefore we will beat Southend. Shame Southampton, Stoke and Sunderland are not in the divison (even Spurs if you twist it a bit).

Should be three points but Bolton being Bolton we just don’t seem to be able to get what you would call an easy game. I will be watching this again 🤞for a win 2-0 stay safe one and all COYWM

I think (hope) today will be different chip. I expect our first comfortable win of the season and am going for 3-0 to the Whites. Last few games they really seem to be settling in and if we can just find that little bit of composure in the final quarter, we should be able to see Southend off. I’m not getting complacent but let’s be honest, it’s high time the team performed and improved our goal difference and I’m confident today will be the day. You never know with Wanderers of course but I think all round, the team is getting better every game.

bench not the greatest. where's Gnahoua ? like Darcy but even he doesn't score or assist much. still no Thomason either.
