Tues. 24/11. k.o 7pm quick turnaround. possibilities of rotation. Scunny are in 22nd place..but a couple of fixtures behind other teams. played 11. won 3. drew 2 lost 6. UNBEATEN IN LAST 3.. win win draw. they are in the bottom 2 rankings for both shots & shots on target. seems to be their main weakness. although their defence is nothing to write home about. 18 goals conceded..same as us..but in fewer games. not much evidence to compare to re fixtures against bottom half sides. amazingly, they've only played 2 sides that are CURRENTLY in the bottom half. & both of those were away. ( won 1, lost 1 ). they are capable of handling the top sides at home on their day. they drew with Newport (in top spot) & beat 4th placed Carlisle. but also got walloped by Cambridge and Forest Green. we are unbeaten AWAY against the 3 sides we've played CURRENTLY in the bottom half. played 3 . won 2. drew 1. ( barrow, harrogate, stevenage) still waiting for our first away clean sheet. this would be a good place to start. WE HAVE SCORED IN 7 OF OUR LAST 8 LGE GAMES..just blanking in the Orient game. hard to pick out individuals for them. 8 goals . 8 different scorers. Kevin Van Veen could be the dangerman. the name might ring a bell from season 16/17. when we edged them out for 2nd place in Lge 1 under Parky to gain promotion back to the Ch'ship. Scunny were the team pushing us hard . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016%E2%80%9317_Bolton_Wanderers_F.C._season#League_table82pts for them. 86 for us in the end. Van veen hit 10 lge goals back then. including this one which was their goal of the season. he's got subtlety, as well as power in his armoury too. as this one shows. presume he's been injured. he's only played in their last 3 lge games. scored in 1. 1 assist. won 2. drew 1. & it would have been 3 wins..but for a 90th min equaliser by Morecambe in their last match. this is his recent one against Oldham. the no.11 Abo Eisa looks a bit rapid there too. www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=2263&comp_id=4&teamTabs=resultsper the soccerbase player filter..games when he plays.. win % = 50 % games when he doesn't play ..the win % = 8%. (nb the 50% win % is all comps. purely on lge form it'd be 66.6%) Prediction- Well, I was feeling confident til i saw those Van Veen stats. torn between 1-1 & a narrow win to us. I'll go 1-1.

I’m more nervous about this one to be honest, than last Saturdays game at Stevenage. Scunny could be in a false position having played 2 games less than everybody else at this stage and having obviously run into a bit of form recently with a last minute goal against robbing them of their 3rd straight win. We still haven’t convinced for 90 minutes yet and never seem to be able to completely dominate games, so I’m expecting similar in this one. We are getting better game by game but I still feel we’re weak up front and don’t punish teams as much as we should. The misses seem to unsettle the team and confidence seems to soon drain from them. Stevenage goal on Saturday was a good example. A good team would have just put the goal down to what it was, a defensive slip up and still gone on to put it behind them and win comfortably but we didn’t. It seemed to completely demotivate the team and they went back to the sideways passing with little threat. I accept we still had chances but we never played with the same intensity in the second half. I’m a bit like you rtf, I’m torn between how well we will do. I’d like to think we’d win and I actually think we should win it but I just have this sneaking feeling that we’re going to blow it and end up losing to a team now playing with renewed confidence, so much as I hate to say it, I’m going to have to go with 2-1 to Scunny!!

well this might just edge me back towards a 1-0 or 2-1 win to us. subbed off in 11th min on sat'day. even if he makes a decent recovery and is in starting line-up, gotta be doubts about his ability to be his usual self or stay injury free.

Great preview. Wonder why the BN dont ask for more contributions from actual fans. Fair enough they publish Alan Houghtons Bill Brysons "Notes from an away day" but dont really do the homework and people are willing to give them good and free content(presume you'd let them)
I know in our promotion season they were rivals. The bridesmaids. I'm not sure if theres any needle there but my first thought when i hear the name is "bitter chairman. Hates bolton".
I think now weve got the starting eleven. In time we may dabble and change but we all know 1-11 and i think that can only be a good thing.
If I was doing a coupon/acca I would leave this fixture well alone. So I will omit a prediction and say get a draw.

I intended to keep this one fairly brief and it ended up longer than i wanted. really not sure about the bet. i was thinking..stay well clear too. might wait for team news. IE might be tempted to rest Tutte . I'm still baffled why he put Comley on the bench after he had a nightmare against Newc. i saw a few brief clips from that match. i'd love to reveal how i saw them but i really can't. he was appalling. one of the worst passes ever I've ever seen.. 5 yd pass into 10 yards of open space with a BWFC player not even close by distance or angle or anything. complete brain freeze. another horrendous error 5 mins before that. & the error with the 1st goal itself. just Kamikaze stuff. maybe thinking White would get the majority of this one. ?? at least possibility Thomasson is on the bench for this one.

I've got Scunny in a 4 game accy. Not the only bet I have running though. I've done quite well considering. I mean considering 365 have that cash out facility. I had two large returns on two accies, but 'cos I had other things going on cashed out early. It saved me on Scunnies last match when I cashed out early and saved a loss. I got paid out early in our Stevenage win. They have a promo to the end of the year, when your teams 2-0 up and they pay out in full. So, I didn't have to sweat while the game was at 2-1. I'm plus 15% as it stands. Try getting that at the bank. And I didn't have to go live in whites' greenhouse...
RTF, you talking more than the highlights on the Newcastle U321 game? They've been on youtube for a while now, unless you mean more than that.
One thing I couldn't understand about Comley when he received the pass from Crellin was why did he turn back towards goal? When you're caught in possession... kick it into touch, anywhere just get rid!!!

All I’ll say on this one is like I’ve said on the BN, if we can’t take 6 points from this and the Southend game, it’ll turn out to be a nothing season. Too good to go down, not good enough for the Play-Offs, time will tell
Port Vale and Walsall after these 2 games and who knows, we could be getting a nose bleed and popped eardrums if we show up and do the bizzo

When you're caught in possession... kick it into touch, anywhere just get rid!!! Spot on about Comedy when he received the ball wots and that is exactly the reason I don’t rate him. Every time he receives a ball his natural reaction is to turn back instead of forward and means he slows down moves, or gets himself into trouble. If he’d turned forward against Newcastle, he could easily have run away from the two attackers and played the ball on. That one move just created their chance that shouldn’t have been there and with only Crellin to get past then, it was a no brainier. Hopefully, along with Gordon, Crellin and White he’ll be away in January, if anyone will take Comley and Gordon of course? Greenhouse still available if your bets turn sour Wots. ;-))

Van Veen confirmed out. big plus. Oh dear, get the greenhouse ready whites! I take it he's going to keep Gilks in net? If it's Crellin then it'll balance the game out.

When you're caught in possession... kick it into touch, anywhere just get rid!!! yes, i'm in decent positive territory too. considering most Bolton fans thought the last match was a virtual certainty, I couldn't believe the bookies had us level / even slight underdogs. so big gains possible there. odds i got were : put £1 on..get 50p back. and as you know..that's my usual bolton OR draw. backing purely the win must have been even more favourable. like you say, you're certainly not getting that at the bank. just got to be wary, as you can win 6 or 7 bets in a row, as I have in the past, and it only takes 1 dud to send you back level again. try and be in when the bets are going though. offsetting can be useful . I did it for Harrogate game. i'd bet Harrogate or draw. half time BWFC absolutely cruising. so I bet on BWFC for a win..thankfully cut my losses right down. obviously you do run the risk of cocking it up even more, and it does feel very odd having 2 opposing bets running at the same time. I'll deliberately swerve that other question you pose, if you don't mind. it's ever so tempting to reveal some info on it. if i told you, i'd have to kill you.

oh no..Just shut up Evatt. www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/18892929.bolton-boss-managerial-influences-sticking-guns/so much double talk as usual.. sticks to his methods....but keep adapting. too much sticking with Crellin ? Gilks has been booting it far more than playing it short, and we've been much better for it. the passing out from the keeper worked well vs newcastle didn't it !?! . while the managers listed are all admirable , you can pick faults with many too. Guardiola hardly takes any risks with his choice of club does he... Barca with Messi... off to dominant Bayern & still no Champs lge win. then to moneybags Citeh. where's this proof it's possible with small clubs...but oh no.. IE isn't trying to copy these..he's trying to be better than them 'cos he can do it with small clubs on no budget. Bielsa... interesting style. but he's 65 & has a long history of winning virtually nowt. don't mention the 2002 world cup to him.... world cup favourites...yet out at the group stage. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2002/1689202.stmen.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_FIFA_World_Cup_Group_FI like how he says all these managers didn't have instant success. true, but neither were they bottom half all season with 20% win %'s. & so many have contradictory styles. Klopp's not obsessed with possession ,whereas Guardiola is. & Mourinho certainly isn't. would Mourinho have even got a mention last year or is that only because he's top of the league. don't bother with Fergie, Bob Paisley or Clough then. Clough..now that really is doing it without big team budgets. but he had charisma & Evatt certainly doesn't have that. can't see Clough name-dropping a few managers to try and seem relevant. mind you , an under-rated aspect in his success was a world class keeper like Shilton in his peak years....even Cloughie couldn't replicate the big trophies later in his career . still over-achieving to some extent but not the amazing heights of the late 70's.

Excellent, if we’d have got a good result tonight, it would have been just our luck for the game against Southend to be called off. Now if we get something we can hopefully continue our run and maybe even into the top 7 if other results go our way? COYWM, nothing less than 3 points tonight please.

Very hopeful for tonight.
If we keep the same team – please don’t bring Crellin or Comley into the team – we should be capable of a win.
Scun thorpe have had 3 decent results but so have we.
I share some of Whites63 concerns regarding scoring. On Saturday, we got to within 25 yards of the Stevenage goal often but a lot of moves then broke down. We have an excellent striker in Doyle so we just need to get the ball in the box more often.
Optimistic – I think we will concede so 2-1 win
