If it’s at all possible, we should break the bank and take Michael Appleton from Lincoln City before he gets them into the Championship next season He’d crawl to manage the Wanderers. Have we not got a spare million lying around to rid us of Evatt and put MA in charge? Speculate to accumulate as they say as the other option is non-league AFC Bolton Wanderers next season unless we go into another administration Food for thought but I can’t take any more of this awful awful football (if one can call it that) on display
Let’s hope Boris saves the Wanderers 🙏🏻⚽️🙏🏻⚽️🙏🏻

Not only would we need to pay Lincoln what they want. We also would need to pay off Evatt and im not convinced, by any stretch that Appleton or anyone in a job would leave thier role to take on this lot. What FV could do is to bring in an old hand to oversee things and basically force Evatt out. Or try too. Every team has bad, awful results. But i'm not buying into Evatt. Hes a Mazda driver who wears a Ferrari cap.

To rub it in Nat Phillips awarded MOM for Liverpool. Son of Jimmy(was head of our development and was on our books) if we cant keep a player whose Dads in charge of development what does that say.
Also unfit Vela sent off today. Cheered me up a little bit.

@whites
Not saying I wouldn't want to ditch some of the players we have but can we afford to pay them off? We might be able to sign another one or two within the current salary cap, but we'd only be fishing in the same pool as at the start of the season. Might be cheaper to ditch Evatt and Phoenix.
I'd like performance clauses written into manager's contracts. That way if we're say, bottom 6 after so many games, we can pay them off with less money than the total of the contract left.

I’m sorry but I can’t understand this “Let’s get rid of Evatt” call. For my money the general football is light years better than we’ve seen for years and will only get better. What do some people expect from a group of players largely untried or unwanted by other clubs at this level? We can’t keep changing managers, we have to give one of them chance to build something solid. Whilst I’m as unhappy with the current state of things as anybody, I do believe IE will get it right and believe we should and I believe will, stick with him.

Mentioned a few times. I do not get the no keeper on the bench policy. Or the way Evatt uses it. If it was Pep and he had decides he wants Jesus, Mahrez, Torres, Sterling, Aguero and De Bruyne to all get a go then fair enough. But its a bench of left, centre back and defensive midfielders. The risk is high the reward is so low. One of the worst things a manager can do is get a bit of early success. Like Freedman, makes them think they've made it. Thier way works. Evatt spoke last week about his players havent made it by getting to Bolton. They will be out if they dont perform. Wise words Ian. Suggest you look in the mirror.Another Fergie story. Young Ben Foster told, had a mistake or two in him at Utd. Had a few decent games and thought he was back in the fold. Dropped a clanger cost them the game and dressing room Fergie said "thats it for you, you've gone." And no retractions. Didnt play again. Evatt needs that. Crellin gone. Baptiste gone. Crawford, Gordon, Mascoll last chance. This should not be tolerated. No point shouting, getting a response then everyone goes back to how they were. Said before we only win when we score first. So we need to start like a team of pitbulls. What do we do, give them a pen. Give them a goal and lose the game in 5mins again. very well put OM. you've stated it explicitly exactly what aggravates the decision...it's a risk in itself but when you consider who he's picked. it's bonkers. such low rewards. how does he ever foresee picking both Mascoll and Gordon ??. it's one or the other. I've thought the same about that look in the mirror aspect. many Barrow fans will think he left them a little bit too early. didn't show them enough loyalty. I know Simon Jordan ( ex-owner of Palace) on Talksport has a very interesting take on that. critical of people like Gary Rowett and Marco Silva who get good results over a short time frame then jump ship instantly. has absolutely no problem letting Managers move up the ladder and make progress. that Integrity has a payback in itself in your dealings with the players. look at Wenger....his word is his bond..never breaks a contract.... creates a special bond with his players. not in it for himself. wants to build something. treats people/players like family, not just a piece of meat etc. this also links on to your next point. Freedman.. managers who jump ship.... supposedly to a bigger club but one which has hardly ever been ahead of Palace since. Coyle...similar type effect with Burnley...to a lesser extent. Barrow are now ahead of us. Harrogate... club who he finished above last season, had until recently been top 6 or 7 virtually since day 1. Most Bolton fans probably didn't care at the time when we got IE. but maybe they should have. Interesting stuff re Ben Foster. hadn't heard that one. just reading the quotes.. wow ..really harsh. none of this, oh well he's only young stuff. here if anyone else interested : www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ben-foster-lifts-lid-brutal-21957816

In a nutshell, the weakness is Ian Evatt never makes the right team selection, including his subs' bench. I am now wondering what he will do about Kioso, whom he introduced as a right back, possible utility player. Now he seems to be playing exclusively up the right wing, where his power is useful, but he can't beat a man for toffee, Brockbank was embarrassed for their fourth goal, but shouldn't Kioso have been around to help him ? Now Evatt really has a big selection dilemma for Tuesday v Mansfield. Does he keep Crellin in in case there is a penalty, or does he try another goalkeeper in the hope that he will stand strong and firm and try to marshall a wayward defence ?

I am in whites camp with regard to the manager.
He has made mistakes and seems stubborn to a ridiculous extreme over the goalkeeper.
Somewhere, though, there is some semblance of a shape of play – particularly against Cambridge and Bradford – but it then gets lost in the shambolic displays like Orient.
I would say that the style of play is a million times better than Phil Parkinson’s. I accept that we may have got more points under Parkinson’s style (and Yes points are important) but God it was soul destroying watching the rubbish he served up.
He has a group of players who at their best, I still believe, are capable of beating anyone in this league but they are inexperienced and, in some cases, just lose their shape/ability in games.
He must sort out the goalkeeping problem as this is a huge negative against him. Crellin cannot play on Tuesday – if I was the opposition manager I would just tell them to drop high balls into the area and pressure Crellin. He is just too young and inexperienced for such a vital role. He must also get a keeper on the subs bench.
The manager is also unlucky – at the moment, we seem to have zero fit attackers but that could be a criticism of the recruitment policy when we recruited numerous defenders (too many for the subs bench!) and just a few (albeit quality) strikers.
We cannot just sack managers on a regular basis – remember Parkinson in our first year back in the championship? 2 points from the first 11 games but he kept his job.
So keep the manager. The manager gets rid of his stubbornness. The manager sorts out the keeper problems and we win on Tuesday.
Easy isn’t it?

So it’s just me then that’s getting sick to the back teeth with pixx poor players playing for our beloved club picking up there wages and continuing to play shxt. We need to wait till January and if we can get rid of some of the shxt we have and try if we can get some players that can help us stay up because I believe we are seriously in the shxt. Stay safe one and all COYWM

bit of video analysis : penalty conceded . hadn't spotted this in real time. freeze it at 8 secs. Baptiste already in a spot of bother. clever pressing by Orient. i'd only seen a tactics video mid-week on youtube talking about this kind of thing.. pressing a defender IN FULL BACK POSITIONS NEAR THE TOUCH LINE , who's not the best user of the ball. the touchline cuts off 40% of their options so it's case of back or square. their no. 39 Johnson is already waiting to pounce on any square ball to Santos. just look at the starting positions of Santos and the no.39. Santos is behind him. move it on a touch... Johnson is right on his toes ...like a lion looking for a kill. Santos is rooted to the spot..and stays like that for wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long. if the forward can sniff that possibility..why can't Santos ??edge it on in split secs. and see how far Johnson moves, and how little Santos moves !!!!!! Johnson's on the edge of our box before Santos has even got into his stride. if he'd have reacted quick enough, he'd have got back in time & offered Crellin a bit more cover...maybe BC could have forced him wide, and Santos could have cleared. not exempting Baptiste or Crellin blame obviously..just thought i'd point out that less obvious aspect that could have still rescued the situation. goal 1 conceded. yesterday i gave partial blame to 4 parties.... crawford, baptiste, santos, delaney. on review... Crawford had little option. Baptiste perhaps could have slid to block the cross. positionally..maybe better in front of front post then you don't risk sliding and it ends up in your own net. bigger blame to Delaney. gets kidded trying to block a cross that didn't happen. over- commited then couldn't adjust. freeze it at 0.32. the guy who scores..Johnson is behind Santos. Santos just lets him nip past him. surely if he extended his arms and claimed his space with his huge frame, he may have prevented that run. yet again Dolly Daydream defending from him ! 2nd goal. probably least blame to Crellin. 3rd.. well I did think this had beat Crellin on his side..but don't think it does . looking again..hard to tell from the one camera angle. does it go thru' the wall ? 4th goal. poor from Brocky here . 1.44. bit unlucky with the shot. White makes a decent effort to close him down. the shot goes right in the corner. hard to tell if BC could have done better from the one angle. you suspect he could.and you'd certainly like to see at least an attempt to save it. I don't tend to look at the M.E.N ratings, but i read some comment about them and looked them up. some pretty accurate comments on each players performance. only one i'd really take issue is Crawford. more negatives than positives in his game y/day. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bolton-leyton-orient-player-ratings-19199139www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/evatt-bolton-leyton-orient-reaction-19200478some interesting lines on Darcy. from IE. at least he's seeing this...but it's pretty late in the day. the fans are screaming... WE TOLD YOU SO. I still wouldn't put it past this guy to still not start him.

Excellent analysis, rtf. I agree with all have two comments for consideration.
1. On goal 1 Tutte is appalling. he trots out aimlessly neither able to cover back nor contribute forward. Looks like he is hiding. At the time I wondered why he had been subbed and thought it an error. Watching this I'm not so sure
2. I think Wilkinson's free kick goes inside Sarcevic who jumps and turns half away. Either way it's a poor effort from Crellin. I can't tell if the wall was correctly positioned but it should have had more men in or stopped that particular low shot
It's all too horrible to consider further. Darcy and Sarcevic ( mainly) apart, we we re lacklustre. And it all stemmed from the sloppy beginning and as you say the pressure on our vulnerable and dozy defence. I worry about Santos's peripheral vision. Once he is facing goal he has no sense of or capacity to react to anything around- an appalling trait in a central defender. But much stems from Crellin. Such credit as he has been given is for penalty saves, but I think he made a bit of a hash of both of those-- and every time the ball is in the air he panics and flaps. The sooner he is taken out of the firing line the better as far as I'm concerned.

lionofviennasuite.sbnation.com/2020/11/1/21543433/murder-on-the-orient-expressgood spot in this LOV article. hadn't noticed how small our wall was for the Mcanuff free kick (2nd goal). have a look at the 2nd photo !! 5 ft 9 Tutte , Darcy... possibly even smaller. Crawford too. lets not put man mountain Santos in there !?!?! he's left to go with runners..his real strength ... haha- see vid analysis above ! Delaney is in it..but as the article says..not in the best position. are they meant to be alternate jumping..to minimise the possiblity of a low one or did Crawford & Tutte just not bother ? www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/18837552.leyton-orient-4-bolton-wanderers-0---ian-evatts-post-match-reaction/as you can see from this pic in the BN story..the ball seems to go above Tutte...if he'd have jumped he would have blocked it. was that why he was subbed off ? here's the best bits from the LOV article IMO re both free kicks. Free Kick Disaster
I don't even know where to start, it is just so basic. Let’s start with that first one, I’ve probably watched it back fifteen times. For the sake of your own sanity, don't. It is a comedy of errors. I’m not even going to talk about Crellin’s positioning, or complete lack of, he may as well been stood with the linesman. Moving on, one of the first things that you get taught as a kid playing football is that the big b******s go in the wall. We had Sarcevic, Crawford, Darcy and Tutte with Delaney in the most useless position on the end. Now those four, other than Delaney, were comfortably our smallest players on the pitch. Granted, they aren't defenders and some of the logic would have been that the defenders should be free to defend. But, McAnuff was ALWAYS shooting from that position.
Secondly, as a child I was always taught when standing in a wall you act as a one. The clue is in the name. Stand together, jump together - that is literally it. I mean look at the state of the image below. At least look like something that resembles a wall rather than a half arsed attempt at Tetris.
The next one was even worse. Was it worse because of who scored? Most definitely. I couldn't bring myself to watch it half as many times as I did the first, mainly because I didn't need to. Crellin’s positioning this time wasn't actually too bad. He looked fairly central, which is expected when facing a free kick from that range. However, the wall yet again was useless. The positioning looked all wrong. Now clearly we only had the one angle thanks to iFollow. But, they looked too far over to the right. Wilkinson managed to hit the ball on the inside of the wall and it still nestled into the bottom corner. Sarcevic doesn't come away blameless though, he is the only one in the wall that jumped and turned his back in the process. Could he have blocked the shot should he have stayed facing the ball? Possibly. Crellin still should have been able to keep it out. It looked as if it went through his arms.
