sat'day 31/10 . k.o 3pm Orient have played 9. won 3 drawn 3. lost 3. but they are UNBEATEN in their last 3.. just as we are too ! they are 4th in possession rankings. we are 3rd. so they like to keep hold of it. shots and shots on target rankings are similar to ours. lower midtable'ish. they've had 3 clean sheets. surprisingly all 3 have been away. we've had 2 clean sheets. and considering we've played better away than at home, both HAVE BEEN AT HOME. 0 away clean sheets for us. their best rated player is their keeper ..Lawrence Vigourox.... the name might ring a bell from a previous meeting with us when he played for Swindon...when he made a string of fine saves www.skysports.com/football/swindon-vs-bolton/358805their topscorer is Danny Johnson with 5 lge goals.. 2nd top is our ex-player Conor Wilkinson with 3. CW scored for them midweek. they seem to play a 433 generally . the tactical battle could be : do our wing backs get forced back to help out our 3 centre backs... 3 vs 3.. or do they get forward and dominate their 3 man m/f . potentially space in wide areas for Kioso prediction. will be betting double chance on Bolton or draw. i'll go 2-1 on here, but would be not too unhappy with a draw to keep the unbeaten run going. 1 defeat in a busy Oct would be pretty good going, after a month like September when we had with 3 lge defeats . one extra thought on Crellin. does this lack of keeper on the bench ..risky as it is....not also send out wrong signals to BC re a lack of competitive pressure for his place.

I should think by now, BC knows pretty well there isn’t any pressure on his place. Even after his penalty save he managed to almost throw it away making his usual flip flaps at high balls. I watched the U18s last night and our keeper always tried to catch the ball and didn’t drop one. I really just don’t understand why Gilks hasn’t been working with him on this in particular because it must unsettle our defence and give the opposition a lift. After Tuesday, I think it’s clear that the team is now starting to gel but it’s just such a shame that our best striker and goal prospect will be missing for a while. Neither Delfouneso nor Gnahoua look like scoring many and we don’t have any other options so I expect low scoring games so much as I’d like a win I’ll have to settle for a 1-1 draw.

We have had a lot of flapping keepers, that punching, is so risky most of the time and they never seem to master it. I have seen keepers from other teams catch absolute screamers, so it is possible and especially now the ball is so light. Drives me crazy but as you and all of us say - wtf is the GK coach letting him keep doing it?
On a better note, I complained to iFollow about the crap reception last game and they are sending me a refund.

I will miss this game as I’m driving 🏠 from John O’Groats I think this could be a tough game as Leyton Orient are a decent team. 🤞we can build on the first half from Tuesday night and pick up a win heart says 2-1 head says 2-2 stay safe one and all COYWM

It appears that whenever LO score, they let one in🤞 BUT It looks like we might have to keep relying on Sarcevic to keep us in games with his goals and hope that our keeper manages to catch, block or stop to prevent them from scoring
I think they’ll beat us comfortably

Have a safe journey back tomorrow chip and hope you enjoyed your trip. I’m just concerned that we don’t have true goalscorers in the team without Doyle. That showed on Tuesday when we should have beaten Bradford comprehensively but failed to score when well on top. We’re definitely good enough to beat anybody in this league but only if we take our chances. Even when we do get in range we either miss the target or fail to shoot, choosing another pass instead. We have to be more clinical in front of goal. At least Sarcevic seems to be playing further forward now but I’d like to see Crawford getting on the scoresheet because he has had numerous chances recently, both from open play and free licks, yet he hasn’t even had one on target. That’s not good enough, surely if you’re going to shoot, at least make sure you force the keeper to work, even if he saves it, it may create a chance for someone else. If you don’t hit the target you can’t score however well you hit it. So let’s hope they find their shooting boots tomorrow and if so I think we’ll win 2-1 so I’ll go with that because overall I think we’ll be too good for Orient everywhere else.

No coincidence that we've taken a lead just twice this season and won those games. We need a good start. Just suits our game better when we have a lead, can be more patient and hopefully start to pick teams off as they gamble more chasing the game(thats not happened yet)
A draw would keep us ticking. Weve not yet had a convincing win(or heavy defeat) games are decided in one off moments but i'm homing for some calmer times. So i'll go 0-3.

Ever the optimist OM but I just can’t see us scoring more than 2 goals in any game, simply because we don’t have the players to do it. Doyle is our only reliable scorer and the rest either miss or have weak efforts, most notably Fonz and Crawford and I’m not sure that Gnahoua has even had one shot yet, despite the good work he does otherwise. The defenders haven’t even looked like contributing other than Brocky’s wrongly ruled out goal, despite the number of corners and free kicks we’ve had. We’re a bit toothless I’m afraid and sadly we don’t even have anything younger coming through we could try. Ok we’ve got Miller coming back but he’s hardly got a prolific record and Evatt seems to have completely written off Faal for whatever reason without even giving him a chance. So I see your 0-3 score line as hugely optimistic unless someone finds their shooting boots from somewhere. The problem is just as bad at the back because as we saw on Tuesday, after a brilliant first half against Bradford, our failure to kill the game off just led to the pressure we were under for most of the second half. Good teams kill the opposition off but we just can’t do that so I’m afraid it will be squeaky bum time until we at least get Doyle back.

As usual, I am ever the optimist.
This comes from looking at other teams in this division and seeing little to worry about if we play to our best.
I take Whites point about goal scoring because we definitely need to improve on that.
Defensively, we will always scare the life out of me sometime(s) during a match so we need to tighten up and, obviously, the keeper needs to learn to catch a ball.
Not quite as confident as I was with the Cambridge game but I will go for a 2-1 win.

I dont think i will ever look at L2 side and dont think we wont win. Maybe Salford on Sky. Cup final for them.
Remember SAF being 3-0 down at White Hart Lane and his teamtalk was "Come on, its Spurs!".
Won 5-3.
Doyle was a marked man. Top scorer from last season, was easy to see them cutting off the supply to him and forcing him out of the area. Which worked. Could be a blessing for us to have defenders a bit unsure how we'll set up.

We shouldn’t be missing Doyle at all though OM, we’re not a one man team and if they shape up we have lots of players who can trouble the onion bag but only Sarcevic seems to be prepared to have a go and keep it on target. Players at this level, including keepers aren’t brilliant so we should be far more lethal than we have been. The likes of Crawford, Fonz, Gnahoua and the big defenders all need to step up to the plate and be prepared to shoot at every opportunity but making sure they hit the target, which they haven’t been doing.

What an utter shower this lot are, naïve defending to give away free kicks around the box and what was the wall doing for their 3rd? Crellin once more looking nowhere near good enough for this level of football. Up front completely toothless again, even more so with Fonz off though to be fair I’d have Darcy in for him anyway. I think we can come home now because I don’t see a goal coming from anywhere but can we keep it down to 3 against?

3-0 down.....can we afford to keep playing Baptiste and Crellin? True the layter saved a penalty after the former embarrassed hom with a suicidal backpass, but subsequently Crellin was saved by a clearance off the oine by Baptiste, and then he made some of his characteristic punches. For the second goal a freekick by MacAnuff he was wrongly positioned to the right of goal making it easy for the Orient skipper to put in over the wall's head to the left. Baptiste seems uneasy on the ball and doesn't know what to do with it most times. Between all this Wanderers might have scored when Brockbank head near the ground when he might have had time to control the ball with his feet with the goal at his mercy. Later Kioso shot into the side netting when he might have put the ball across. The only good thing to say is that Sarcevic is looking absolute class but with insufficient support.

So depressing. Baptiste set the tone. But the whole team is responding to Crellin's lack of confidence- despite the penalty save so many mistakes. I thought the free kicks were saveable,, certainly the second? We missed a couple of chances too which didn't help. I'm not betting on 3-3 but Sarcevic and Darcy look capable of something and Tutte is playing well too.. We deserve to be 3-0 down and yet it needn't have been like this.
