Sky presenters used the word "PHENOMENAL" to describe Parkinson's achievements at BW, even BEFORE the game! If only our fans could appreciate this too!
TV pundits picked out promotion, the embargo, this season's expert management of meagre resources to recover from an awful start, maintenance of team spirit, "not a penny spent", and the forced sale of their leading scorer as reasons for their praise.
I hope everyone here can now acknowledge how Phil has guided us away from possible ruin and will now adopt a more supportive, optimistic stance rather than take every opportunity to carp depressingly. Posters' comments before the game were utterly and repetitively predictable, defeatist and grossly unfair, as they have been since PP was appointed.
Personally, I like the way he has brought in players with steely resolve, an important factor in any team, given that we do not have the cash to buy pure skill.

Well said Joanna, Parky was accused of only being able to play one way, big boot up front, but in his first season and a half that worked ok in the end
Now he has had to adapt again to get the best out of the players he has and he has built a team and squad that are greater than the sum of the parts, you can’t ask for more than that. This team would run through a brick wall for him and that is priceless, he needs to be given full credit from all fans

The style of play was the biggest criticism of parky...it was awful to watch.....the style has changed, and is BETTER to watch with players that are and were available......so the conclusion must be he prefers hoofball.../THAT is the criticism from most fans!

I take that "spent no money" with a pinch of salt as we've brought in a whole new squad full of players often from divisions higher. Some premiership too and you could probably make an amazing world 11 on free transfers.
Was going up a phenomenon last season? No it was a good effort. Would staying up be a phenomenon? Again I don't think so but it would be an excellent effort. Millwall and Neil Harris are doing phenomenal. Chris Wilder is doing well. We're doing better than expected after the start we gave ourselves.
Last night I thought we looked comfortable and were the better team with and without the ball.
No doubt that after a run of bad appointments Parky must be revered as a good one. He has created a team spirit that cannot be faulted and even the fringe players seem in good spirits. No prima donnas (Jack Grealish) no toys out of the pram. I would love for parky to come out and say "I've kept you up. Now back me. I need a striker a top drawer finisher. A left winger. A midfielder to replace Pratley. Proper Cover for Henry who may not have 46 games a season in him and to sign Burke and Robinson back" and see what he can achieve.

Spot on tg1. If he had the money, the first player he would buy would be another Madine and we would be back to square one. Luckily he only has Will Brown and even Parky has seen what we see and didn't play him in the starting lineup yesterday to my immense relief. Don't let anyone forget game after game he left out Alf, saying he did not fit into "his system". He kept on leaving out Derik when it was obvious he just needed consistent game time to show his promise. He would pick Pratley every game if he could. How many times have we lost or drawn due to his negative insistence to defend a 1 nil lead giving the opposing team target practice? I still have lots of criticisms of PP but as I have said at least once before, after a similar game to yesterday, I take my hat off to him for the way he can instil our old "never say die" attitude into ALL players, mould them into playing like a team and play their guts out until the final whistle with NO LULLS which invite the opposing team back into the game.

I’ll definately take my medicine Joanna as I had us down for a 3 nil hiding and I have also posted on the BN that it took an independent view on SKY with the comments you pointed out above that made me realise what a difficult job PP has done and how he has managed it with dignity. He has worked miracles and has polished the proverbial turd here and there, he’s also been bloody well lucky and has been responsible for some truly awful football that not even you can deny, but I asked for 4th bottom at the start of the season and I’d still take 4th bottom now and for that, o top my hat. Well done Parky, albeit the jobs not completed yet!!

Absolutely 100% spot on grud. People only criticised the style of football Parky delivered and his overly negative tactics. I think universally, everybody totally respects the job he's done under the circumstances but his reluctance to vary his system until he lost Madine whilst ignoring the likes of Alf, disappointed and alienated many fans. I genuinely think Parky has finally learned to adapt, hence the greater ball retention and more pleasing and effective style. If he can continue in this vein, I see no reason he wouldn't get every fan chanting his name. Whether he will remains to be seen but yesterday's performance can only help. How many others felt proud coming out of the Macron yesterday for about the first time in eighteen months? Well done Parky, please keep it up.

To WS63 and the others who posted in the same, repetitive, negative vein week after week, please don't pretend that any of your moaning to this point showed any respect whatsoever for Parky or the job he was doing to keep the club surviving against all the odds. You said he was incapable of change.
No manager in his right mind would change a successful style which had got the team promoted and then moving up the table from a poor start, unless he absolutely had to. The sack for failure would be inevitable. The club's whole existence was under threat. It has been a question of priorities. PP was right; you were wrong.
I had to laugh at one of the pre-match comments on here that suggested that we try a more sophisticated approach "and SEE WHAT HAPPENS"!! Oh yes, a very sound approach!! The stakes are too high for a gambler's instinct.

I have witnessed some of the worst football I have ever seen at the Macron while there was an alternative more entertaining way of playing that the players at the club were more than capable of playing and winning games ......THAT is my point!....Hoofball is prehistoric,is an insult to the players capabilities...basically it says your not good enough in midfield just lump it..having coached and managed at lower levels for 20+yrs I do have very strong views on this....no offence intended

Joanna, You must be winding us up. You said you thought we would be relegated without Madine, and that the players we had were awful. Well one swallow doesn't etc and you now give PP much credit. He set up poor teams early doors that left us in the bottom 3, without Madine he has been forced to change his style, some success, but yet to be proved ultimately succesful. We all hope he will be,but he was responsible for the ealy dire situation. Fingers crossed.

Joanna, don't be cruel. The 'Parky-loves-hoofball' brigade are hurting enough. They can't use up their bile for at least a fortnight. They see the possible danger that we will not be relegated after all. How they must be praying for defeat to Leeds and Birmingham!!
