I'm hoping we take our second half performance v Leeds into this game and the early nerves of playing at home are gone. Unfortunately, it's my opinion that there's nothing I've seen so far to suggest we'll get beyond 1 goal, so for that, it's a cagey 1-1 prediction from me.
Sometimes I wonder if we've got the next Sean Dyche in PP and other times, his team selection, formation and playing style are very much Lennon and Freedman. Find a formula and stick to it PP and it wouldn't harm to drop Dervite and Pratley once in a while, and try 3 up front in Madine ALF and Armstrong to see whet that yields! COYWM be brave, be cavalier, bulge the net as that's what we're all wanting to see

Sorry rioch I and a lot of other's can't see that happening Pratley will start why I have no idea, play three up front not a cat in hells chance, attack we have more chance of getting a billionaire to buy us out than that happening but still we live in hope. Just for all you doubter's 3-1 to the super whites bring it on. COYWM

I agreed with everything there Chip until you got to the result bit which I think you got the wrong way round. I'd love Parky to be positive but as you quite rightly pointed out, it isn't in his DNA. Having said that, AndyL was quite impressed the other night at Brum, so you never know, he might just surprise us. I hope so but will still have to go for 1-3 to Derby I'm afraid.

Phil Parkinson's DNA? Does not Attack?
Always worried playing the Rams because they always seem to have the fire power and attack mindedness to take the game to us and off recent memory we've had a few big defeats mainly at IPro/Pride(probably changed its name again since)
Think though at The Reebok/macron(pot kettle black) the games have been tighter and we've picked up draws.
I'm thinking that way again. If Madine could only add goals to his game then it would put us in better stead. On the flip side if he added 15 goals a season he would be playing for Derby or any of the other cash rich clubs.
They've lost Hughes and Ince and Hendrick so think they're weaker than last season. Know they've got Lawrence in. Great signing and will probably get more in so maybe lucky playing them in August and not September (close the window before a ball had been kicked)
1-1

I think that this is a hard match for us – mind you, most matches in the Championship are going to be hard.
The fixture list computer has done us no favours as so-called “easy” games are few and far between in the first 2 months.
Having said all that, Derby do not appear to be any great shakes. They have sold Ince & Hughes so hopefully they are weaker and they haven’t hit top form – yet!!!
If we can get our defence to concentrate, not like the Leeds, match, we should be capable of getting something.
I fear that it might be like the last time we met – 0-0.

5 conceded at home in a game and half and sounds like we're lucky to keep it that low.
I don't think this season works and there is no plan b. It's an away game set up and if we concede early, which we've done in both matches it makes it an up hill(mountain) task.
At some point we're going to have to put the extra man in midfield and try and pressure.
Interesting to see what Mick McCarthy and Neil Warnock are doing this year. Both been linked in the past and both had people on here doubting them. For me Harry Redknapp can say what he wants Parky is unproven and I think he's lacking.
Any contract offer should have been kept until October. Genuinely think we'll struggle to match the points tally we got under Lennon.

We were taken apart alas. The tactics of three at the back came seriously unstuck with both Dervite and Beevers frequently exposed for lack of pace Pratley after the first ten minutes struggled and should have been withdrawn. Cullen and Karacan offered and offer more even if Karacan was outpaced for the second goal. It doesn't help that our goalkeeper is so nondescript. Some keepers would have dived to cut out the short cross for the first We improved when Le Fondre replaced the ineffective Armstrong but not much. We improved more when Buckley came on but he was soon withdrawn to wing back. It is an idea for future games but I think a back four could well be wiser against the better teams if this game tells us anything Madine had a lacklustre game but took our consolation goal well. Morais isn't fit yet..and so it goes on We were just outclassed and it was obvious from the off 0-4 would not have flattered them or the chasm between us. Howard 5 Dervite 5 Burke 5 Beever s 2 ( worst game He's had? Taylor 4 Cullen 6 Pratley 3 Madine 4 Armstrong 3 Le Fondre 6 Morais 5

Not much more to add, we don't have the players at this level to play 3 at the back, at least against the calibre of today's opposition. Somehow P.P. must find a way of winning a decent proportion of home games.

Didn't go today as in Wales but listened on TalkSport. Not sure if TalkSport actually visited our ground today as they just kept reporting Bolton 0 Derby 1 Bolton 0 Derby 2 Managed to get Tower FM on on my way back and heard the presenter say that we had not had a single shot on goal, this was just before Madine's goal, so effectively, we haven't shot at goal in 91 minutes. We have the players capable to do that, but the tactics are just plain wrong. The saying "you can't polish a turd" is somewhat true, unless your Rioch, Allardyce, Pulis, Dyche etc but Phil Parkinson definitely can't and he's proven that, regardless of promotion. Any manager worth their salt would have brought us the League One Chanpionship with the crop of players PP had, but because he's stepped up a league, his eye for a decent player and how to utilise the skill set of said player is seriously left wanting!! I know we don't have money and embargo blah blah blah, but a game plan is not hard to formulate with any bunch of 11 as Allardyce and Rioch proved, crikey, even Sammy Lee played better football than what's currently on show and that's saying something!! We had better be prepared to be cannon fodder and expect to go straight back to League One if we stay with PP Unforgiveable😞😞. Not one single shot 😞😞 😬😬😬 Who's up next to be given the easiest 3 points??

Spot on Andy, except Beevers was better than Pratley, deserves at least the same scores. 4-4-2 in second half helped, and LeFondre.

For me Parkinson is League One. It's where he is comfortable, it's what he knows, it's where he wants to be and deserves to be. His mindset is league one. His signings are all from league one or players he's worked with in league one. Good news for him then he's coming home soon.
Parkinson left a solid league one side in Bradford and came to a crisis club in financial bother to say the least. So why then does everyone base his skills on the embargo.
He was aware of that when he took the post. He had a decent club in that league. Therefore you have to assume that he purposely chose the club he believed had the better players and were more likely to be promoted. So promotion was not the miracle we make it out to be, and let's face it we should have done it in March and almost threw it away big time.
A promotion clouded my judgement, because I now remember moaning about the absolute rubbish football this guy produces. No interest in youth, tactics, passing the ball. His motto must be "why pass when you can bypass".
Buckley is this years James Henry. Best player on the bench because he likes to control the play too much. Can imagine him berating Buckley and Derick in training "oi, less Tika Tika lads, kick it up there!"

Not a great deal to add to the above comments.
We were awful – a total embarrassment. Outplayed, outfought and outthought.
We were completely outplayed from 5 minutes until 91 minutes and can count ourselves lucky to have lost by only one as the gulf was enormous.
Defensively, we were slow and half asleep.
Midfield, we were dreadful – hardly a forward pass all match. Just sideways and backwards and absolutely no link up with the attack.
Attack, we were just ineffective. Long balls to Madine were mostly cut out and neither Armstrong nor Le Fondre seem to be able to work with Madine. There is just no understanding between them.
Managerially we were a disgrace. After 20 minutes, we were being slaughtered. It was obvious to everyone in the ground that a change of shape was necessary. We had to scrap the 3-5-2 and go 4-4-2 but No, we stuck with 3 at the back all the game. He replaced Armstrong with Le Fondre at half-time. A bit tough on Armstrong who was no worse than any others but we still played the same way and got the same dreadful performance. He eventually brought Buckley on, who he obviously regards as a midfielder not a winger but then, incredibly brought Wilbraham on, took Taylor off and put Buckley at wing back. This was shocking tactical management throughout.
On the match itself, Derby (like Leeds) scored early. Morais failed miserably to mark at a throw in and the full back Olson (full back note!!!) ran round him and crossed for Nugent to get in front of a ponderous Beevers to flick the ball in. Second goal came from Karacan being totally run rings round on the right for Russell to get a simple cross into the box. In the box were Beevers, Burke and Dervite plus Nugent. Of course, it was Nugent who got his head on it for a simple nod in. Just no marking at all. Weinmann then had a one on one with Howard and hopelessly missed and Derby just ran through us at leisure.
Wisdom (note another full back) ran from the half way through half hearted challenges and slid the ball inches wide.
And so it went on. A total dominant display from Derby and we were lucky to be only 2 down at half time. Our only efforts were 2 mishits from Armstrong. Not one shot on target.
I naively expected a change of tactics second half but nothing changed.
Derby settled for a 2 -0 win and things just drifted along. Derby occasionally woke up. Beevers was lucky to escape with just a booking when he chopped a Derby man down on the edge of the box. Wisdom ran through our midfield time and again and then he also was lucky not to be booked twice for reckless fouls.
The game just drifted away until Madine got a loose ball in the box and fired home in the 91st minute. Nothing spectacular – just a lucky drop of the ball.
Even after that, we showed little urgency and could not get the ball forward despite having possession.
A truly awful performance. We must get rid of 3-5-2; it is killing us.
Now we have Hull away and Boro at home. It will be tough.
Howard - 4 Not a great deal to do but just not inspiring. His distribution is still awful.
Dervite - 3 Just caught too often. We have a tactic of working the ball to Dervite for him to launch it diagonally to Madine. It is a dreadful tactic and today his distribution was appalling.
Burke - 4 Day dreaming for goal no 2.
Beevers - 3 Caught too many times today. Looked really slow. A really poor performance.
Morais - 4 First 5 minutes were OK. After just nothing and badly at fault for goal 1.
Taylor - 3 He is struggling. I don’t think that he gets much help but it was really poor today.
Cullen - 4 Tried hard but never got forward. There is rarely anyone to pass to so he plays a lot of balls sideways and backwards.
Pratley - 1 Just horrible. He just doesn’t link the midfield together at all. Never marks, never gets forward – just niggles and fouls.
Karacan - 2 I am struggling to see his qualities at the moment. The game just passed him by. Terribly at fault for goal 2.
Armstrong - 4 I thought that at least he tried but there is no support at all for the attack.
Madine - 4 Outfought today. There is no understanding between him and his co-striker.
Le Fondre - 4 Same as Armstrong – he tries but being a forward at Bolton is soul destroying.
Manager - 1 Awful, awful awful tactics. When his hoofball up to Madine tactic is spoilt by good opposition play, he is lost. Where is Plan B? Why continue with 3-5-2 throughout the game.
I am fast approaching Whitessince63’s thinking

I completely agree with W63, the longer we stick with PP the sooner we'll be the first club relegated. Out of his depth and an extended contract from KA!!

A thoroughly wretched performance from start to (seconds before) the finish. Madine's goal simply offers Parky a tiny fig leaf to try to hide how inappropriate his tactics are. Didn't I read something about being up and at them at home? Something was lost in translation there. The score should have been at least 1-4or5. It will take a monumental effort to tune in to the next instalmemt of what I fear will be a season long video streamed nasty on i-follow.

Ok here goes...maybe a bit long winded. The way we play 3 at the back is that the 3 *stretch * across the back leaving big spaces between them for the ball to be played into the space for their forwards to run into, neither left or right of the 3 can cover the middle player as they have to cover for the wing backs when/if they get forward. Our *wing backs* when they do defend give us 5 at the back which surrenders midfield. When we do get the ball our midfield is quickly closed down as they usually have an extra man, which means the ball gets passed backwards and all hope of a counter attack dissappears. Because of this we knock the ball long to Madine,so obviously our oppenents know what our tactics are before we even kick off! As long as Madine is in the team this is how we will play all season, doesnt matter if he has a good game by being on the pitch he dictates the way we play! Its been proved over and over again that passing teams win games...our tactics are Prehistoric!
