Paul Lambert walked away from Blackburn. He did a similar rebuild job at Norwich but his Villa days are uninspiring and after a good start at Blackburn they petered out. So I can see a bit of out last two managers in him. Dougie his villa phase and Lennon in his Rovers spell.
I still don't think there's anyone who is available who is jumping out so I'm still content to let Phillips have 10 games next season minimum. judging him this season is unfair. Like starting a 100m sprint with an 8 second penalty and still expecting to beat Usian Bolt.

I've never known a manager talk about a job he hasn't applied for or been asked to do formally, to the best of my knowledge. Move on Sunbed you're boring me.
I think Bowyer did a decent job under bad conditions. Embargo on his hands he brought some young players in with a mix of experience and built on a solid defence. Giants at the back. It may not have been pretty but it's sort of exactly what we need for the next two seasons. But there won't be any tears if we fail to get Bowyer.
Any thoughts on Gary Johnson?

Is anyone else a bit worried that the only people this Anderson guy is dealing with are people he has had dealings with previously?? Was he Andy Townsend's agent? Does the guy still work as an agent? I'm worried that soon the name Dennis Wise will be branded about. Townsend in non-paid so that doesn't bother me, though I don't quite get what's in it for him. 50 applicants, narrowed to 3? Is he doing an Alan Sugar and eliminating just one a week, it's sure dragging on. Still think JP should get a pre-season and 10 weeks next year UNLESS we can get a manager with a proven track record and hunger. That's a very good idea ,but I cant see it happening , i'am beginning to think that this bloke has gone through his list and has been turned down by all his chosen three ,he is now groping round in the hope that some one or something will pop up and solve the problem , a new manager will most certainly insist that pre- season work will be done under his watch and not under a temp . Its gonna be a long wondering summer (if we get one )

Rosler is now favourite at 2/1. Brown is sticking around despite ruling himself every chance anyone talks to him, football related or not. John Carver has thankfully floated right out of the running and both Phillips and Reid have drifted out.
Bit more surprised by the omission of Paul Lambert and the long odds for Steve Clark and Neil Warnock.
Its still a fairly uninspired list.

According to TalkSport, Chris Wilder thinks Charlton are a better proposition than Bolton as he's about to be announced as their new manager!!

According to TalkSport, Chris Wilder thinks Charlton are a better proposition than Bolton as he's about to be announced as their new manager!! A wise choice I think. Let's face it, we're in the mire and everybody knows it. Good luck to him at Charlton, no financial problems and every chance of getting them promoted. What on earth would he have had to look forward to in sunny Bolton?

NewsNow reckon we've 'spoken' to Stubbsy?? I hope not. Another Coyle and Freedman

Bookies have it looking like its down to a 2 horse race for me between Rosler and Reid. Stubbs has the same issues as others, he's in a job already so compo needed and I just can't see that.
I'd rule Stubbs out anyway as we would not be learning anything hiring people who have Scottish experience alone. Yes he played for us but was often booed on his return and there's not much love there from the Bolton fans.
Rosler failed at Wigan and Leeds, though hardly given a chance at both clubs but do we need to take a gamble on a manager like that? Isn't it better to try and get one on the up? Wilder has rejected us but there must be more like him. Reid, I think will probably get the job short term. Firstly because I think the financial backers are acquaintances of his but also he's cheap and probably low maintenance i.e he won't be knocking on doors asking for funds because he knows he's lucky to be in work at all.
I still think Steve Clarke is one of the best shouts for us but at 66/1 theres a reason that it is very unlikely.

Can't see Martinez getting another Prem job when he gets the bullet but he'd be ok at our level. What about the forgotten men? Paul Jewell, Alan Curbishley, George Burley, Glenn Hoddle etc etc I'm going into desperate league now but it has to be someone that's been around the game a long time. That said, i thought Michael Appleton a Salford lad doing a sterling job at Oxford might have been worth a go, but we've no money for ambitious upstarts

Latest check on the odds indicates that it's Reids job. I'd be very disappointed truth be told. He's been there all the time with Jimmy, almost like the puppet master, if you remember "I wanted to put Alex on for his debut but Reidy quite right said we need Heskey on". Heskey then played a big role in the next games? Was Heskey awful and cost us games? No, he was decent enough but what good is that to us now he's gone. Woolery and Samizadeh have still little match day experience that stint against better players could have been a good learning curve for them.
I can't absolve him from any blame for the past 8 or so weeks. But If you did a ven diagram and on one side "People who want the job" and the other "People we can afford" then in the middle id suggest only Peter Reid(and JPs name are in the mix. Personally if we are sticking rather than twisting I would stick with the younger man, with the ideals to play younger players and with a history of working with these kids.
Everyone else starting with Stubbs, who isn't even successful in Scotland's 2nd tier, start at 5/1 whilst Reid is 6/4. Adkins who I thought would get mentioned is 12/1.
Begs the question if it is Reid then why now and not 10 weeks ago? What about the 50 applicants and what does that say about the position of the club? For me it smacks of desperation. But that's exactly what it is I suppose

quick edit: BN have done an article suggesting that it's down to 4 with Adkins in the mix. He has postponed and negatives. Excellent job with Southampton but has since failed with Reading and Sheff Utd.
The other 2 candidates to join Reid in the mix will be Neil Redfearn and Steve Thomspon.
So yeah.

Well well, Browny for some reason has shot straight back to being favourite?
Whats gone on there? Checked out Southends page on BBC and they have avoided a winding up today and they are resigned to losing some of their players so maybe Brown may see it as a similar job at a bigger club.
