Been asked to promote this for the Uni, if anyone is interested in going .. it's free and starts around 6pm with a free buffet and refreshments.
Taking place on Thursday 12 February, broadcaster Gordon Burns will be in conversation with Francis ‘Franny’ Lee on his successful journey from football pitch to boardroom.
Hosted by the University's Business School, it is part of the annual series of lectures with distinguished speakers from the industry and an important networking event that brings together businesses and the University.
Franny Lee played for Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City and Derby County during the 60s and 70s.
During his spells with Manchester City and Derby County, Lee won League Championship, FA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup medals.
Over the course of his career he scored 234 goals, represented England on 27 occasions and, in 2010, was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame.
After retiring from the sport, Lee turned his hand to business.
Spotting a market for soft toilet tissue, Lee ploughed his earnings from football into the manufacturing of toilet rolls.
He later sold the multi-million pound business and became a major shareholder and chairman of his former club Manchester City.
Lee retained a shareholding after leaving the board of directors, before the club was sold to Thaksin Shinawatra in 2007.
The evening will start at 6pm with registration, networking opportunities and buffet and refreshments, followed by the main event, scheduled to finish at 8.30pm.
