I have to say, if Evatt is adamant that no front men are leaving, how can he keep everyone happy
7 strikers!!
Charles Collins Nlundulu Adeboyejo JD Bodvarsson Jerome Mendez-Gomez
Surely now, we must have the best squad in the division and with our current league position, it is a fair point to say that we have to be nailed on for promotion??
What could possibly go wrong 🤔🤔🤔

What could possibly go wrong 🤔🤔🤔 I'd say we had 4 strikers and Jerome before. Usually JDB and Dan would replace Vic and Dion on 65 and then Jerome would either not feature or come on with 5 to go and head some balls out. With losing Dan and signing Collins were in the same boat but an upgrade. I don't see Mendes Gomes as a striker. Played more RWB. Question is. All fit and well and who gets the nod. Aaron Collins who's clubs biggest signing in 10 years. Victor Adebejeko who was the biggest signing and is finding his form. Or Dion who was also a club record and is currently top scorer? I know I would say in this day and especially with Evatt it doesn't matter if you start the match or come on you'll play your part. But strikers surely are all about confidence and egos. Maybe pleasing all will be the worst thing you can do. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe it's a case of Collins and Charles best goalscorers start. Vic 3rd choice, JDB 4th. Jerome odd cameo get with the B team on a coaching/playing role.

I also agree that we do not have 7 strikers. Nlundulu is out for the rest of the season, Mendez-Gomez is an attacking midfielder/winger (who has been disappointing) and Jerome has scored one goal in the last 13 months. Up until now, bringing Jerome and Bod on has been to give Charles and Victor a rest and/or to maintain the result. Have those two ever come on and changed a result by helping us come from behind? They have a role to play, but clearly scoring goals is not their strong point.
Hopefully we now have three goal scoring strikers vying for two starting positions which is good competition.

Well I’d say this
We are ‘Back in Business’ and Barnsley are heading into a ‘Baptism of Fire’.
‘Anything Goes’ at the ToughSheet
We just need to get Aaron and Dion ‘Deep in the Hole’ and hope the Tykes ‘Give it Up’
AC / DC will be bagging the goals in the ‘Nick of Time’ so long as they ‘Play Ball’ and mix it with some ‘Ruff Stuff’ leaving us supporters ‘Spellbound’

I think it’s a bit strong to say Mendez-Gomes has been disappointing. He’s had so little game time with an injury then the African Cup of Nations. I agree he’s not an out-and-out striker, but I think we’ll see him put a number in the back of the net and, personally, I’m backing him to make an important contribution before the season’s out.

I completely agree wots CMG hasn’t really had any chance at all to show what he can do so it’s a bit rich to criticise the lad. I’m sure that now he’s back and no distractions he can force a place in the side and show the ability we’ve all seen in the past. He can certainly do things few others in the squad can and unlike Paris, who hasn’t really shown much end result will hopefully have more of an end product. To be fair when you look at the squad we have now I can’t think of an area where we can’t interchange players and not feel and weakening. Tough one tomorrow but let’s hope we can prove how good we are?

I know he’s only played a few cameos for us thus far, but I’m struggling to see any major impact from this Collins lad
Is Evatt playing him out of his comfort position? He looks ineffective from what I’ve seen, save for one pass
So we take Calvin Ramsey on loan when our very own Neil Danns lad is doing the bizzo scoring goals at a much higher level than League 1, why did we not make a bee line for him on loan rather than wasting £750,000 on Collins? Jayden Danns looks a real prospect
He’s scored more goals in his 2 guest appearances for Liverpool than any Collins efforts on or off target for us
I really thought Collins would have flourished straight away, we’re almost in March and he’s been here 2 months and done absolutely nowt.
Course I’ll give him time, as I do for anyone donning the white jersey, but we’ve given Adeboyejo more than enough time and he’s been bloody awful

In the Summer Evatt had the cheek to say that (despite the work we did we Trafford and Bradley) we wouldnt be exploring more loan moved because the current crops at those clubs youth teams weren't of the standard.
Fast forward a few months.
Opposite of King Midas at the moment Evatt. Everything he says and all he touches turns to turd.

If he’s a striker he doesn’t really look it so is he a winger a No10 or an attacking midfielder? I genuinely don’t know and if I’m honest I’m not sure Evatt does either from what we’ve seen so far?

This isn't Mo Faal we've signed. This is a player that has been playing L1 already. If they rated him £1M. (Joey Barton put a £5M tag on him at one point) and we agreed he was worth £750k then he has to play a bigger part in our promotion bid otherwise the sensible thing would have been to loan a striker to cover injuries.
It's a pathetic accumulation of goals scored by our fit strikers and we saw the same with Kachunga and Bakayoko. Goals are not what Evatt wants from a striker. And he is in a club of 1.
If he got the City job he would sell Haaland and bring in Maupay. Erling wouldn't have been on the pitch at Luton to get his 5th goal, Evatt would have benched him for not holding the ball up.

I’m sure IE does believe in goals but you do have to wonder if he confuses being able to play his system with actually delivering on the scoring front? He made a good signing with Doyler and probably with Dion but you do have to ask questions about every other striker he’s recruited. My problem with him is that he doesn’t consider physicality important at this level which I believe is essential against some teams. He has said several times that high crosses aren’t part of his plans and you can see that in the way we play but surely sometimes a more direct route is required but it’s something we don’t have in our armoury. Even our centre backs are poor in the oppositions box giving us no threat from set pieces. We’ll just have to hope he’s right! 🙂
