pic- of Spearing. twitter.com/OceanBeachIbiza/7 of them seem to have gone here. this jay jay carter guy..also says DF is with the scottish under 19's... so not even using the time off to sort our tactics out. i mean good god, Pulis did a cracking job at palace,,,just drilling them...positonal play. shape work etc. DF is a defensive coach whose teams can't defend . no one would ever say a Pulis side can't defend no matter how small the budget. i suspect one or two of you might agree with this jay jay carters avatar ( on twitter ) lol this Ibiza thing was to put Iles, and he thought there was nowt wrong with it.. "just like nipping down to the trafford centre for us etc ". i'm partly on the fence on this one. bit of bonding can work sometimes, but it's certainly high risk after the start we've had. if we continue to play bad.... this will just add more fuel the fire..which isn't exactly small at the mo !

<<<<<<<<<<even Garty's joining in now. it's not a club trip Whites, but obviously the club approved the days off & trip. but i do agree with you re other trips..especially last yr's to Southern Spain. you can't plead poverty on the one hand and be jollying off to Spain. i've always been brought up with the saying.."look after the pennies and the pounds look after themself"...& also know the difference between luxury and necessity. this league is all about wet wednesdays in Huddersfield or where-ever . doing heat training in Spain ain't much use. i don't even think we played any local sides down in Spain. and besides the old reasons people went abroad don't really exists.... to escape muddy pitches in uk. with pitch technology so good, the game 46 pitch is now better than old week 1 pitch from 30 or 40 yrs ago. it might have made more sense as a winter break to escape cold here. if you can't cope with mid-summer uk conditions, how the hell can they cope with games in the rain, wind, sleet & hail of autumn and winter. again we're back to the old inadequate pre-season friendly schedule...try and prepare for the stuff you will actually face...ch'ship sides..not lge 1 or 2 teams.....although the way we're going, those friendlies will be ideal next season sadly !!

All something and nothing. But it's bad PR at a time when we need a morale boost. Please, please, change your avatar back, mtid. Seeing Megson on a daily basis is not therapeutic but this picture is positively nauseating!!!

/photo/1 here's one of Mark Davies at this same resort/hotel in Ibiza..from June (2014) . not necessarily doing anything wrong, although if this place is thought as a booze up place, it doesn't half get you thinking about the links between boozing and players who were either injury prone or finished careers early thru injury. your body ends up fighting the effects of booze, instead of focussing on healing injuries. Bryan Robson, Norman Whiteside, Mcgrath . the latter 2 infamously appearing drunk in a granada tv interview . ( both booted out by Fergie even though he rated them as players ) add to that alan brazil, gazza , etc etc . www.redcafe.net/threads/united-drinking-culture.384958/

All I hope is that the players that have gone on this jaunt have been made to sign some kind of agreement that says they have to look after their fitness while they are away and that includes looking at their nutrition etc.
I would much prefer to have read that the players had took it upon themselves to be doing fitness training by running up and down Pendle Hill

It is infuriating I agree but hey, these guys have as much right to time off work and a holiday as anybody ? Can't see the issue myself really

i see the BN have decided to put a couple of pieces up about this story now. www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/11451926.Bolton_Wanderers_launch_internal_investigation_over_Jay_Spearing_holiday_snap/?ref=mrwww.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/11451939.COMMENT__Jay_Spearing_photo_does_not_make_for_a_pretty_picture_at_Bolton_Wanderers/?ref=mralthough i don't like the lines that the only thing they did wrong is.. put in on social media. because with camera phones etc, if you don't do it, there's a good chance some other bwfc/footie fan will spot you and put it on anyway. the comment article is pretty good from Iles. credit where credit's due. " The Champagne Spray weekend attracted hundreds of partygoers, and it can be reasonably assumed few of the attendees stuck to Perrier. But whether the midfielder’s behaviour was acceptable for a professional footballer should be judged by his employers, and after the matter was raised with manager Dougie Freedman and the club’s communications team, we are reassured it will be dealt with swiftly in-house. "he goes on to say : " Talk of disconnection between the fans and the club is worrying, and this is where Wanderers need to buck up their ideas." "When the club trolled the lower leagues in the early eighties they only started to become upwardly mobile again once they had re-established a relationship with their fans. That bond blossomed in the Bruce Rioch era and it is no accident the famous Whites boss built his reputation at Burnden Park by putting the supporters first"

Wow .. so a player (who has been given authorised time off by his employer) goes and blows off some steam and have a good time with his mates (at his own expense) in another country and then turns up for training at the specified time is doing something wrong? So what if he had a couple of drinks, he's not playing for 2 weeks and is likely running around a field somewhere right now burning it off. Perhaps it would be better if he behaved socially like a nun and played ping pong instead of training? Maybe we should go back to that!

funny how i'm not seeing loads of other clubs players at these rave ups in Ibiza or elsewhere. i'm sure that defence would be used if it were true. but we're just not seeing it.

Excuse me but isn't the closed season over when players take their holidays. They are now back at work, if football can be called work , so for me they should be here working on putting right what's so clearly wrong not partying it up in the sun. This kind of thing is exactly what winds up the supporters quite rightly.

I agree W63, after having about 8 weeks off during the closed season, and then having to train to get back their fitness, play a few friendlies, they train for approx 2 hours a day (then have the rest of the day off to play cards, golf or whatever they want), then they've played 2 x 120 mins (cup games), and 5 x 90 mins (league) if they were picked. They must be absolutely knackered and need to unwind a bit. Give me strength, the game has gone mad. Just noticed the place that Spearing went to is Located directly on the S'Arenal waterfront it's the nearest he'll ever get to playing at/for Arsenal
