Well I didn’t see the game today so I hope to catch it later on Wanderers TV but it sounds as if maybe IE is finally listening after all about tightening up and simple possession being overrated. I certainly hope so because I still maintain we have the squad to win this league, especially if we can add a little in January. I don’t know if we can claim today as a finished article but along with Reading last week they’re steps in the tight direction. Another similar result against Northampton should see us confident of seeing Salop off at home and gaining on that top group so let’s keep fingers crossed.

Just read your report andyl seems as though it wasn’t that good a game but a win non the less. Hi Rioch unfortunately the pub we was in for about an hour didn’t have any tv so we just had breakfast and a Guinness then went walking around Edinburgh and Leith for the day cheers all for your birthday wishes 👍COYWM

Interesting that Parkhoofson Clough and Bruce are in the top 6 along with moneybags Brum, but that Skubala seems to be the next McKenna Schumacher type boss with unfashionable Lincoln
Marathon not a sprint Rioch, I hear you all shout 🙄🙄

Not playing well and winning is it kicking the can down the road or an actual change in tactics?
Guess that remains to be seen.

Not for me OooooooM I just think luck played its part and favoured the Whites rather than Town Anyone raving that we’ve done something different (plan B) to get out of Crawley with 3 points is seriously deluded. I’m not saying that Crawley were far superior than us with their 70% possession, I’m saying that had they just that little bit of talent up front and they didn’t blow out after 70 minutes, they could easily have equalised if not gone on to win That was a terrible performance from Wanderers and it’s hard to take glory from a win like that, as dull as it was, but like I say elsewhere, the best we can be happy with of course, is the 3 points. Wembley and those defeats to Huddersfield Exeter and Charlton have left a very sour taste and I cannot change my views on Evatt, even if he scrapes us up

Just returned home from Edinburgh and reading the comments on the Ben you’d have thought we have just beaten Birmingham City away and Santos is the greatest centre back in the country. Okay we won with a clean sheet but ffs it’s Crawley and Santos is not out the woods yet. It’s a start and when we are back in the championship I’ll be happy. Just beating the teams that we feel we should be beating is all well and good let’s wait until Christmas and we will have played most of the fancied teams COYWM

Like you I didn’t see the game live on TV as I was at my granddaughters match but I managed to see the game yesterday on Wanderers TV and like you and Rioch was a little under impressed, including with Rico who I didn’t think was particularly much better than normal. We weren’t passing around at the back so much so there was less chance of mistakes happening so maybe that and the fact that Crawley didn’t have a striker worth the name made both Rico and Toal look better than normal. I just though Crawley were quicker to the ball than us, passed it really well and didn’t just give it away like we did but that said we always looked more likely to score and on another day would have won by much more. I do though think there was a detectable difference to our play and we were more direct when we did get the ball. I’m still unconvinced by Schon, neither an attacker or defender for me and Cogley was marginally better but still wasteful with his final ball but at least his link up play with Toal was better so hopefully that continues. Victor after several good displays was back to his least effective for me and I’m still not sure of our best partnership up top because Dion looked really sharp there yet is replaced to allow McAtee and Collins to come on and I don’t know if you noticed but as he was going off and passing Evatt he spread his arms wide as if to say why me boss? I don’t blame him and it’s just another of the pre programmed events that I don’t like just to give others game time. So like others I don’t know if much has changed yet and I suppose we won’t know until we play the better teams but we do first have to win both our upcoming matches this week to recover the distance we’ve lost up to now.

Great post 63 like you I watched the whole game late last night even though it was nothing special it was a win and that’s what we needed. Let’s get away from having to win with the beautiful game just win ugly and let’s save all the fancy Dan football until we are in a higher league let’s walk before we can run. The season is only 7 games old so plenty of time to get promoted COYWM

Wembley and those defeats to Huddersfield Exeter and Charlton have left a very sour taste and I cannot change my views on Evatt, even if he scrapes us up 100% with you there Rioch. can't believe the luck of this guy. Reading have a takeover bid fail before our game with them. now these plonkers lose their manager. whatever next. Northampton key striker ( even if they have one, which i doubt ) falls down stairs & breaks his leg today ?? . i felt we had a good chance before the Crawley manager jumped ship, when he did i upped my bets for the win & win/draw. make money out of the situation anyway. wouldn't normally put so much on for "banker fixtures" as it's very low gains for high stakes. always that risk we don't turn up. it just felt the surest of sure things. wish i'd posted it on pre-match as it may look like hindsight now. my betting slips tell a diff story. pity loads of hassle posting them on here. looking at the next 4 fixtures, it wouldn't surprise me to be top 6 or top 4 before the Brum match towards end of Oct. not just down to us, but so many other favoured teams dropping stupid points. Rotherham continue to flop. Huddersfield. is that now 3 losses since they beat us. Charlton slip up again. Mansfield and Lincoln do well, but can't really see either staying the distance. squad size issues ? didn't see the game. didn't even get radio comm. interesting to hear Santos played "better ". admittedly against an attack with few threats. one of last times he did well was Barnsley away in a similar performance ( 1st leg play off semi ). defending deeper. almost in a Beevers and Wheater type way. deep, not team pushed high & expansive, and he's defending on the halfway line with lots of space around to cover etc. strange that we let them dominate possession, especially as such a small team. that is Crawleys style. looked like us at our very worst. loads of possession but absolutely no threat or shots or anything. good post from WS63 in BN comments. ridiculously petty from Santos. all this walking straight off lark. so he snubs the majority of fans because a tiny minority are critical / abusive ?!? . can't remember anything like it before going back years and years. any other manager would have put a stop to it. Evatt's done these petty walk-offs himself after defeats when he didn't clap the fans, so he has no moral authority to correct it. he probably suggested it.
