Carlisle got 1 back. 2-3 v Barnsley.
Burton also got 1 back v Pompey 1-2.
Lincoln absolutely flying 6-0 up. pushing hard for play offs esp with Oxford faltering. this is on the back of them hammering Barnsley last time out.

Jerome almost in on the act. if this live table is correct, we're now joint topscorers in the div with 71 scored.

Pompey, Barnsley and Derby all FT & confirmed wins. Pompey only had 3 on target and won 2-1, and 1 of those was a pen. we're the only one with a clean sheet. still none on target from Oxford.

Really fantastic win, almost perfect.
Shut me right up, think I’ll drink some of W63 tipple in future
Hope we take that to Derby on Saturday I wouldn’t even disrupt it by bringing Dion back (if fit)
This is going to be one hell of a battle on Saturday We can do it but bye eck Derby are really threatening with their front men, not like tonight, but they are beatable
Will it be winner takes all??

What a performance that was. Massive confidence boost. Or rivals sure seem to get a lot of penalties.
Hard to find fault at all tonight 5+ in the goal difference. Goals from all over. Defensively sound. Subs came on and settled in. Out of possession amazing.
The turning points were 2nd goal which was a direct hit from Santos into the danger zone. Asked a question and they didn't have the right answer. And then the 3rd goal a shot. Proving that you don't buy a ticket youn don't win the raffle.
Certainly got me believing again. Play like that we're still in this.

That was fantastic! We played the ball at pace, regularly launched it forward for runners, showed some delightful skills and I bet we all thought how much better it was?
Goal one was made by a surge from Bodvarsson, then a sublime pass from Thomason and a net bulging shot from Ogbeta. Wow!
Then a lovely through ball from Santos chased optimistically by Dacres- Cogley suddenly fell to his feet after a muddle and he took it with ease.
I half expected us to sit back but no,Sheehan was everywhere and Maghoma exuded class. Bodvarsson was a powerful figure head with Collins in and out but intelligently so. Goal 3 was a Thomason shot that hit someone and spun in. Goal 4 was the best. Once again we cut briskly into the penalty box, Collins back flicked and then arcing round swept in the cross. Terrific Sheehan rounded it off with a placed finish from the edge of the box, Jerome had a couple more chances.
The more direct style so obviously suited us. Oxford are a good div one side. We tore them to shreds!
Coleman 6 Jones 8 Santos 7 Toal 7 Dacres-Cogley 7 Sheehan 9 Maghoma 9 Thomason 8 Collins 7 Bodvarsson 9 ( his best game this season!l Ogbeta 7. Subs all good 7

Harsh on Coleman. What do you expect? Him to save a shot that didn’t happen?

I feel that 6 is a good score. 7,8,9 etc have to be earned. I last gave a 10 to Stu Holden! Last night Josh Sheehan was very close, Maghoma less so with some stray passes. Bodvarsson in my opinion played his best game in ages.
This last is no coincidence in that Coleman was kicking long a good bit of the time and he does it well. Early on Coleman's decision- making was questionable spurning at least one easy throw for a breakaway.
I think re Coleman, rtf's stats above and generally what needs to be said is that Baxter with some slight aerial hesitancy has been excellent - nearly at Trafford levels. So, yes with him out we've lost 3+ plus points. In general Coleman has made some good saves.
Re Collins- he exudes calm and class at this level. A more direct game suits him when space opens up and he can get between lines. Some touches didn't come off last night- some did- I think he'll end up with 2 goals from it?

Well, that was brilliant.
I actually think it was a better performance than the Exeter 7-0 because Oxford are not a bad side but we dominated for the whole 90+ minutes.
We started with a little walking football and a couple of moments of confusion at the back but once this settled down, we were excellent.
The combination of Collins and Bodvarsson upfront was tremendous. Held the ball up well, great movement and awareness. Maybe this is the combination we have been looking for.
The midfield were good. Sheehan dominated again. Oxford, by the way, certainly left a few tackles in but we did not respond.
Defensively, we were sound. No great scares which allowed us to feed the midfield who were all over Oxford.
The 1st goal came from great play, initially from Collins from a throw and then Bodvarsson took the ball and brilliantly found space to feed Thomason. On to Ogbeta for a rocket shot. A quality goal.
2nd goal, we need to thank the keeper who got in a tangle with his defender and left the ball for Dacres-Cogley who, credit to him, took the chance well.
We had had a few half chances also so it was a deserved applause at half time.
Second half, we were devastating.
The front 7 were all over Oxford. Class passing. Great pressing to win the ball back whilst the defence just controlled the Oxford attack.
We had luck with the 3rd goal but it was a good patient build up until Thomason shot. We got the deflection and the goal.
The 4th goal was a think of beauty. I don’t know how many passes were made but Collins to Bodvarsson to Maghoma to Ogbeta for a tremendous centre and Collins had moved all the way across the area for a good finish.
Sheehan got the goal he deserved when the ball came to him on the edge of the area and his first time shot found the corner.
We could have had more. Jerome should have scored. Dempsey, Morley, Maghoma all had shots.
A word on the referee – very good. Not too many yellow cards. A couple of times Oxford warranted more punishment but, overall, he did excellently.
On to Derby. Keep up the positive thinking and don’t slip back to the walking football.
Marks:-
Coleman - 7 Apart from a couple of early hesitations with passing, he did all that was asked of him. Good
Dacres-Cogley - 8 Endlessly attacking. Took his gift chance well.
Jones - 7 Good like everyone else
Santos - 7 Solid. Not quite back to his best but good
Toal - 7 For some strange reason, he looks better on the left of defence. Good
Ogbeta - 8 Took his goal excellently. Brilliant centre for the 4th
Sheehan - 9 Excellent throughout. Took his goal so well
Maghoma - 8 Good. Always involved
Thomason - 7 Took his shot well for the goal. Set up Ogbeta for the 1st goal
Bodvarsson - 9 Excellent. No, he didn’t score but was so involved throughout the game. Started the ball going with his involvement for the 1st goal
Collins - 8 Very good. Looked so classy. His movement for the 4th goal was tremendous
Dempsey - 7 Busy. Desperate to get a goal
Jerome - 7 Should have scored but “finished” the game off well
Williams - 7 Busy
Morley

Play like that we're still in this. Not just penalties OM, although how many is that Pompey have had now, it seems nearly every week? The Reading sending off with a second yellow at Pride Park was just a joke but probably cost them the game. I actually don’t think Derby are much from what I’ve seen and have been fortunate in scraping wins rather than doing anything convincing and it’s a good job they did sign Gayle because without him they’d be struggling. Let’s hope we can keep him quiet on Saturday and if we play anything like last night they’ll never live with us so never mind a point, we want all three and I think we’ll get them. So many players are coming into form and I think by accident we’ve probably arrived at the best front pairing we have with quality and experience. Our midfield three just seem to compliment each other so well and are gradually beginning to know each others game. Can’t wait for Derby now and I’m going for 0-2 to the Wanderers, if not more. 😁
