All our competitors now winning unfortunately, we need to pot a couple more here for the GD as we’re falling behind and it could be critical at the end of the season.

Posh score. Barnsley lead twice from behind and a man up too. Pompey score. And Derby all sewn up. No changes at the top.
Oxford out the picture now if they were ever in it. Some huge games in L1 coming soon

Barnsley 4-2 up at Wycombe. Wycombe red card. Sadlier one of the goals for Wyc. Pompey and Pboro also leading.

With everyone else winning, all you can do is win your own games
Great to see Randell back

We won, got the points, played well so why am I still dissatisfied with it? Probably the easiest game we’ve had all season and it should have been, not could have been, should have been at least 4 or 5 but we just have no cutting edge at all. We need to win at Barnsley on Tuesday after other results today but unless we suddenly discover a way to turn chances into goals we’ll fall short. Our build up play is superb but our final third is atrocious and how many sitters is that we’ve squandered in recent games since Dion fluffed his lines at Pompey? Don’t even get me started on corners and set pieces because we’re just woeful. It really makes you wonder if this league is as weak this year as some say for us to still be sitting third with all that. All the others have far easier run ins than us now too so it’s going to be a really tough act staying there never mind getting into the automatics.
Sorry to be so negative after a win but I just expect so much more. ☹️

A win is a win still not convinced about our strikers good to see Collins score and Thomason getting another goal. Sheehan didn’t get booked and surprise surprise the pie eaters get smashed at Fleetwood so onto Tuesday COYWM

I've scoured the lexicon of unfamiliar vocabulary and unearthed the never previously used word ' comfortable'. And it really was. No gnarled brow, no gnawed fingernails, no gnervous hysteria. Just a leisured victory.
Not that it seemed so when Dacres- Cogley contrived to hit the crossbar with an early tap in beautifully set up by Collins.
Collins is a pedigree act if at times languid. And he made his share of errors today. But in that assist, a delightful inside ball, his dinked second and his thunderous left foot screamer he seemed to find his feet. I thought he might and he did.
In similar vein really Maghoma made errors but he always added class and skill.Ogbeta also overlapped well.
All of that said I still felt that with perhaps 20% more aggression we'd have won by more. We play backwards far too often. Thomason did some excellent work and when he buried a right foot shot he visibly came of age. A daft booking was a blemish.
Sheehan was the focus of much possession and did a lot to make us tick. Keeper and defence were never tested and coped with ease recovering occasional errors. They weren't pressed at all.
I'd like us to go up a gear in games like this but it at least set us on track. Coleman7 Jones 7 Santos7 Toal 7 Maghoma 8 Sheehan 7 Thomason 8 Ogbeta 7 Dacres- Cogley 6 Collins 7 Adeboyejo 6. The subs 6

Plus points Maghoma very good Collins plenty to be pleased about imo some nice touches great goal unfortunate not to get two, good movement off the ball when in possession. Sheehan played well and George took his goal well. The downside still too slow at times in the build up Georges obligatory booking. We need to up the tempo we are capable of it. On to Tuesday a massive game that will need a quality performance. Overall a much needed win and barely troubled by Cambridge a fair few bigger challenges to overcome before the end of the season.

A decent enough performance. Not outstanding but still good.
In reality, if it had been our day, we would have won by 4 or 5. We scored 2, hit the ball from 5 yards out, had a decent looking goal disallowed and had one kicked off the line plus many scrambles in the box whereas Cambridge had one good chance which they miraculously spooned over the bar.
For a change, we actually started the game brightly with a lot of forward play.
We should have taken the lead early on when a lovely move down the left resulted in the ball flashing across the box to reach Dacres-Cogley about 5 yards out and he somehow managed to hit the bar.
We also had a few balls flash across the box but not land at our feet until Thomason took it on himself to shoot with his right foot and score.
Cambridge were pretty toothless – the occasional breakaway but nothing to concern Coleman.
We dominated the first half and deserved to be 2 or 3 up.
Second half though we started sloppily and allowed Cambridge to attack us. We were sleepy at this stage and Ogbeta got caught in possession and when the ball was played back to the edge of the area, their man scooped the ball over the bar. A bad miss.
We did wake up but couldn’t dominate like the first half until Maghoma lobbed a lovely pass over the defence and Collins excellently beat the keeper. A quality finish. Let’s hope it gets his confidence going.
From then on, we could have scored more.
Adeboyejo was really unlucky when he had a goal disallowed for hands when it appeared to strike him high up well past the “t-shirt” line.
Collins then had a rocket shot somehow blocked on the line and Jerome was thwarted by the keeper who made a good save to stop him
The referee made some odd decisions, particularly with some bookings. Presumably Adeboyejo must have said something but Dacres-Cogley, Thomason and one of their players were all booked for innocuous fouls. Dempsey was booked for shirt pulling when only 5 minutes earlier a Cambridge player had done the same but presumably because the ref played advantage he wasn’t spoken to. It was the exact same foul as Dempsey’s.
Anyway a decent performance, a good 3 points. Pity all the other teams won but on to Barnsley
Marks:-
Coleman - 7 Didn’t have much to do but he did what he had to well
Dacres-Cogley - 6 Hit the bar early on with a sitter. Did OK. Still not quite flowing down the right with Jones. Booked.
Jones - 6 Again did OK but would like to see the link play with Dacres-Cogley improve.
Santos - 7 Easily controlled the Cambridge attack
Toal - 6 Defended well but a few poorish passes
Ogbeta - 6 Gave Cambridge their only chance when he was caught in possession in his own half. Got lots of space down the left and put in a couple of good crosses
Sheehan - 8 Quality. Took the ball from our defence and set us going forward
Maghoma - 7 Lovely pass for Collins’ goal. Still looks a little casual and needed an extra touch a couple of times when chances came
Thomason - 7 Good shot for the goal and was busy. Booked again
Adeboyejo - 6 Much more involved than in previous games. Unlucky to have goal disallowed for supposed handball. Booked
Collins - 7 Took his goal excellently and had another shot cleared off the line.
Morley - 6
Dempsey - 6 Booked
Bodvarsson
Jerome

Honestly think our promotion hopes rely on us being defensively sound. Don't lose these games. Remember our L2 how many nervy games where won by the odd goal to nil. Ben Jackson (Morecambe) Doyle (Forest Green and more) Miller (Barrow) Isgrove (Salford) etc. Think they were all horrible to watch matches but we got there. We could 1-0 our way to promotion. And Collins must take a lot from this too. If we finally see AC/DC then it could be (Insert your own AC/DC relevant title here because it's not really my thing) just know next away game we maybe back in black(our away shirt)

Yes, win is a win blah blah blah but goal difference could be the difference to 2nd place, or it could mean we have a disadvantage in the first leg of the play offs if it were down to say, THAT Pathetic goal for example and I’m left wondering why we didn’t do an Exeter on them??? Massive possession stats in our favour once again, but here’s a couple of things, when GT scored, the camaraderie amongst the other players in cheering his goal appeared to be non existent and also as if we’d just scored the one consolation goal from a 5-1 battering… We should be piling on top of each other and singing from the rooftops with every goal we score, that can sometimes add pressure to our opponents and get the crowd going The other thing, 20,246 in the ground and the atmosphere was very flat All that said, we stopped the rot and begin March better than we began February, so long may that continue and the very best message we can send the top two will be an away win at Oakwell

Spot on your last comment there Rioch, a win at Barnsley would send a big message, not just to other teams but also to our own fans because those two losses last week really hammered confidence. In my opinion we were better than both Blackpool and Wigan and both results just highlight our shortcomings and you can now add Saturday to that where as you say it should have been another Exeter. With the top 4 so close it could well come down to goal difference which is worth a point when it comes to it. Obviously 1-0 wins bag the points but we won’t win all the games given we have some real toughies coming up so we have to make it count when we can and for me Saturday was a chance missed. So tomorrow is in my opinion a must win, not just for the points but also to send that message that we’re back on track and we can beat anyone, home or away.
