Absolute shambles. Pass pass pass and still we are on the halfway line. 70% possession and we rarely got into their penalty area. Wing backs were dreadful. No decent balls into the box. We eventually gave the ball away on the edge of their area and the next time we touched it was to pick it out of our net. We subbed our 2 most creative players. Finished with 3 big men upfront but still never got the ball in. Manager will say we controlled the game but we lost again. Awful.

2 defeats on derby weekend now. Where was the reaction. If we had the "battle of Burnden" again now we'd have 11 white shirts on the floor.
Soft.
I don't know if Derby losing does us favours. It just allows the Ostriches to dig deeper. Barnsley and Pompey are the real winners tonight.
Without going over the top. 4 seasons of Evatt is enough for me. He's a charlatan. Wears a Ferrari cap and drives a Ford.

Take away the penalty at Blackpool and it’s 4 goals against I no the last 2 games - not the sort of form for the ‘best team in the league’
At this rate I can see us meeting Wigan in the playoffs!!!! That’ll be summat, Pathetic beating us 4 times in a single season (it could happen)
Sharron, this bloke has spent £1,250,000 on 2 Bristol Rovers flops!! What is it about Collins? He’s anonymous. He’s known for one pass in his first outing and since then, nothing
So we’ve now got Dion Collins Adeboyejo JDB Jerome CMG
And about 3 goals between the lot of em in the last 8 games That’s the Evatt effect

Come on lads Ian said (I thought it was the best we have played for a long time) but I don't want to tell him we lost, in his world we won because we played Ian's way. As I said before the Blackpool game there was 3 games I was worried about Blackpool, Wigan and Derby up to now my worries have been justified. Ok I will say we played better last night but until we got into the last third then it all fell apart as it seems to more often than not. Reading some of the comments on the BEN I sometimes think that we deserve Ian as there are some that think the sun shines out of his bottom and he can walk on water don't get me wrong if we get promoted I will be as happy as the next man but we will have to thank Derby, as if they would have won there last 2 games we would be in the shxt. Hey never mind we have Saturday to look forward to and our bounce back COYWM

the way we played, if we didn't already have 6 strikers, you'd be getting people claiming we need to sign another striker. or say if Collins hadn't come, it'd be why didn't we sign him. the way we play at times, Evatt could kill Haaland. he'd be waiting up front for a bit of service, and we'd have Santos and Toal playing Chuckle brothers football at the back.... to me ..to you... I'd love to see Shazza's face if he went cap in hand, asking for another striker. maybe sign some out of contract strikers like Dwight Gayle etc..lol. he supposedly copies Pep. does he not watch the bit where they have/had true wingers like Grealish, Doku, Mahrez, Sterling... people who can beat people, cross & create.

We eventually gave the ball away on the edge of their area and the next time we touched it was to pick it out of our net. We subbed our 2 most creative players. Finished with 3 big men upfront but still never got the ball in. Manager will say we controlled the game but we lost again. Awful. For night matches, I try to wait until the day after for my comments but last night I was so gutted I had to comment. This morning I am angry and gutted. How the manager can say we deserved to win and played well is beyond me. We dominated but created little. Pass, pass, pass across the back and get nowhere. We played tippy tappy football even when we were losing. There was a spell about 10 minutes from the end when Santos and Toal just stood on the halfway line and passed it between themselves and Jones for a couple of minutes. This at a time when we were losing. The stats say we had 69% possession with 3 shots on target. The possession stats need to show where the possession was. Mostly it was between our back 3 and Sheehan. I can only remember 2 shots on target, unless the ridiculous shot from Ogbeta that hit the post with the keeper happily covering it when he had 3 men in the box waiting for a cross, counts as a shot. Toal had a shot well saved and Jerome had a header easily headed away. Wigan’s manager out-tacticed Mr Evatt again.
Like the home game this season he set out to intimidate us. 4 fouls in the first 2 minutes and, of course, our first foul gets a booking. Wigan were blatant in their fouling/niggling and, yet again, it knocked us off our stride. They put 10 men behind the ball, let us have possession and just waited for our moves to break down. Which they did until eventually Sheehan made a hash of a pass on the edge of the Wigan area, Wigan shot upfield, Dacres-Cogley and Jones stood and watched as Humphrys ran through and Coleman got down so slowly to the shot and the ball was in the net. We were losing 1-0 against a very average side and the manager subbed our best 2 creative players – Maghoma and Sheehan – and gone was our chance of creating anything. Bringing on Jerome for Sheehan – give over! We had 9 corners in that match – to Wigan’s 0 – and the first 8 were awful. Eventually the final one landed in the right spot and Santos headed wide from 10 yards out. I thought that performance was worse than Blackpool as at least at Blackpool we created and missed chances. We hardly created anything last night. Marks:- Coleman - 6 Not a great deal to do. Made one good save just after the goal. Not sure what he was doing for the goal – never dived down for the ball. Dacres-Cogley - 3 Just no penetration at all and fast asleep for the goal Jones - 3 Also fast asleep for the goal. Santos - 5 Slowed the game down for Wigan’s benefit. Standing on the ball and playing sideways passes to Toal when we are 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go is not the right approach. Headed wide from an easy chance with 2 minutes to go Toal - 6 Missed great chance with a header and then had a good shot well saved. Ogbeta - 3 Dreadful. He got so much room, particularly in the 2nd half, and wasted every centre. Couldn’t contain Macmanam in the 1st half. Booked Sheehan - 6 Ran our game but spoiled it by giving the ball away poorly for the start of the winning goal move plus some rank bad shooting Maghoma - 6 Booked early but at least showed some creative spells. Thomason - 5 Involved but overall what did he create? Booked yet again. Adeboyejo - 4 Dreadful again. There was one break in the 2nd half when Sheehan played him in and his ball control was so bad that the ball just bounced off his legs through to the keeper. Mendes-Gomes Collins - 4 I bet he wonders what he has come into. Just couldn’t get involved. Bodvarsson - 4 On the pitch for 30 minutes and I am not sure if I saw him touch the ball Dempsey - 5 Tried but ran into a brick wall Jerome

Our team is very Eric Morecambesque. We play all the right notes just maybe not in the right order. Nobody can deny that we have the best squad in the league overall but the players never play to their strengths and are forced to operate a system that allows them zero opportunity to express themselves. Last night despite dominating possession, not one player took it on themselves to try something different, something that might surprise the opposition and actually create or score a goal.Dapo used to do it, just create a goal from nothing and we know what happened there? I’m not knocking Evatt’s system entirely I would hate to go back to hoof ball but it’s just all so predictable and one dimensionable and if we can work that out it’s obvious a half decent opposition manager can. Maybe it’s because Evatt can’t hack players like that who have a mind of their own, who may want to deviate from the standard or be a leader on the field? I fear that we will never succeed until either Evatt accepts the need to adapt or he goes. I don’t want him to go but with what we have now, good players or not, the system is killing them.

"Evatt has coached out any excitement about these players" Well said RFTR - sums it up exactly.

Yet again undone by a more tactically astute manager. For me personally I could see their goal coming for about 15 minutes as we desperately pushed up higher and higher to no effect. I mean you have grudgingly admire the Wigan goal some lovely intricate passing and movement off the ball to open us up. Down in the dumps Really can't see how we are going to progress. Questions now being asked of Evatt he's on thin ice some decisions to be made if things don't buck up pronto.

It’s tough being a Wanderer at the moment Taddy because if we’re honest we will know we’re very lucky to be in the position we are but fortunately others have also slipped up to keep our hopes going. The sad thing is I don’t think Evatt can or will change and I just see others like Barnsley and Derby coming through and nicking the automatics. Time will tell.

Barnsley have a game in hand and we play them next Tuesday we are shxt An interesting point for those who fear our match at Barnsley next Tuesday. There has been a lot of talk about “ we never win at Blackpool”, “ so many years since we beat Wigan” etc etc therefore writing us off before the game. Our last 6 visits to Barnsley in the league have been:- 0-3 2-2 0-1 2-3 0-1 1-1 4 wins and 2 draws so Barnsley fans should be saying “ we never beat Bolton in the league”, And our last 6 home games (before this season) have been:- 0-0 3-1 1-0 1-1 2-0 2-1 So altogether, the last 12 league games between us (before this season) have P12 W8 D4 L0 1999 since they last beat us!

Am away, so could only follow on intermittent signal. I see Santos played. Said that would be rescinded but didn't add whether a good or bad thing v Wigan where and by whom he's been taken apart previously.
Stating the obvious Baxter and Charles have with Sheehan have . been our most productive players so a team without them would struggle at both ends?
Actually I don't see Maghoma Collins or M-G ( shame) as formulaic coached players. I do though wish we had a wing option, the best teams all do. Morais was arguably the main reason we did well in div 1 last time?
We still have a great chance of 2nd and near certainty of a play off place(?) so not all doom and gloom? Maybe I can only say this because I am away!

davidm I was thinking more of the here and now I must admit other than the 3 teams I said I was worried about Barnsley isn't 1 of them not against us anyway more what they could do against others. If we beat or get a draw against Barnsley it takes out there game in hand. It's not over not by a long stretch of the imagination it's just us being Bolton we don't do things the easy way COYWM
