certain stories you see and you think..this is a wind up story. seeing some of the TNT ( formerly BT sport) and Sky sports stuff over the weekend i'm absolutely sure this one was.
this first tweet sums up it perectly.
WAIT A SEC FOR TWEETS TO LOAD (I don't know why the tweets with vids in are not playing directly on here.. just hit on them to view them on twitter/X. )
even we're flying to some games , yet we get this.
so right about the gimmicky green mic covers. they literally must think we are stupid.
100% agree with these 2 old cynics.
100% right. kick off times insisted on by tv that make going by train impossible. maxiumum hypocrisy as usual !!
this was just bizarre. a get a triathlete who's never watched a game before to cycle a long way to a game. had to be for FGR of course. what good is this exactly ? virtue signal to the max.
good grief. i wanna throw up. bet all of these travel far further than me on their hols. i've not been on a plane in 20 yrs !!

What a complete and utter load of hypocritical bollocks. it's staggering isn't it. you wrote some great stuff Whites, on the taking the knee nonsense. that felt like a wind up in itself yet about 50% seemed to endorse it. I can't see those levels of take up with this. i don't mind doing my bit..and recycle probably more than most. but to hear it from football and Sky. . it's comedy. pre-season tours to Asia & USA. private jets waiting on tfr deadline day. yank owners jetting in to Wrexham games and it's all good & those 2 have the nerve to virtue signal about climate change !?. even we have mid season breaks and training camps abroad, as well as pre-season. I thought the climate was warming here already so why do they need those ? floodlights are on even in the first half on Sat when it's not really needed. don't think they were years ago. I even see Welsh prem games moved to eve's for TV where they'd have managed to avoid floodlights in the day but had to put 'em on at nights. yet we're expected to take this climate emergency seriously !?! . next time there's a big crowd at an away game...they 'll be saying..isn't it good. surely they should be saying isn't it bad ..lol . they just tie themselves in knots. life must be easy when you learn to be that insincere.

Absolutely ridiculous isn't it. I read last season Nottingham Forest flew to Liverpool for the match?
It seems up there with "rainbow laces" as a futile gesture. Reminds me of wearing a red nose for the start of the day before taking it off because it wasn't practical and then forgetting about it but doing it again a year later.
No idea how many single use plastic cups the club goes through on a match day? With fan zone too. Every mile they travel plane or coach.
Reminds me of the flack Emma Thompson got for flying from LA to attend a climate change protest. Can't make it up.
Sky TNT lose it, everyone sees through your weak ill thought, half baked campaign. We should stay away from it too until we make genuine changes and initiatives then by all means shout it from the roof top. A veggie curry won't cut it.

Just thought..... Who's Arsenal and City grounds sponsored by. ?? Emirates & Etihad. 2 airlines.
and these are their current shirt sponsors too. when is it going to be socially unacceptable to have these . bit inconsistent with green football wk/end isn't it.
and you very often see Visit Rwanda at Arsenal games. I don't even see any criticism of this from any of the fanatics. i found one tweet online mentioning the absurdity of the sponsors and stadium names. just shows you how much they control the media narrative.
they've got like 2 different Wurzel Gummidge heads..... sky news climate emergency. climate catastrophe. back over on SSN. switch heads..just ignore it and go mad about it for just 1 wk/end out of 52. that's really credible !? . anyone who just goes along with happily sat there in the Emirates stadium with your Emirates shirt on.... must be every bit as dim as i think they are. can't they think unless they are being told what to think. it's like OohMac's excellent example in the post above...the sleight of hand from Emma Thompson...look here. attends climate change protest. don't look here though.... takes trans-atlantic flight to get there. !?!
feel free to use to add to this thread over the course of the season, if you see more hypocritical takes from the likes of Sky or Beeb or whoever.

not football related, but just highlighting the hypocrisy. saw it on BBC breakfast this morn. flying 4 celebs to the Arctic to do some stupid challenge. how about just don't go there. donate all production expenses to the cause, and still put out an appeal and if people want to donate they can do, if they believe in the cause. www.comicrelief.com/rednoseday/challenges/arctic/(wait a sec for 1 tweet to load ) "I'm a celeb" is just the same. ITV news hyping climate change all the time. they managed to hold it in Wales during lockdown, but all those celebs & ITV itself quite happy to take those super long haul flights. quite funny when you get the respective news programme hyping their own prog's, as is their wont.... and you get conflicting stories just seconds apart. don't forget this is in the wider context of places like Wales changing a lot of 30mph roads to 20 mph. everyday actions restricted, while celebs go on unnecessary jaunts with huge carbon footprints.

Ha, how many of these celebrities would do these things without it being filmed? Just for a charity?
The height of Sky's hypocrisy for me was that August years ago when Bury and Bolton were facing liquidation. On one side they have a countdown for thier demise. What did those clubs need. £30M in our case was it? £6M Bury? They acted like all the football "family" was standing there with us. Then Jim White would come on grinning and tell us that the spending in this transfer window has now eclipsed all others. £200M and going. They had a total graphic like it was for Children in Need. How wonderful Man City have signed a back up left back for the cost that could have saved Bury, Bolton, Macclesfield, etc.
Was so relieved when the news broke that the deal had been done, but won't forget how annoyed that made me.

on a similar theme O.M. , where they talk it one way but act another is "the Magic of the f.a cup" , then pick a load of all PL ties. yonks ago there was a stat about how Man u had about 50 odd consecutive picks for FA Cup ties to be televised. not that i watch it but Football focus is a disgrace for not starting when the EFL starts .instead it waits a week later to start when the PL starts. so tokenistic in every which way possible, but can't be INCLUSIVE enough to start when 72 of the 92 starts. absolute joke !! Sky did exactly the same with Soccer am. only started when the PL starts, even though you've got 72 teams starting & the curtain raiser of the Community shield. ( wait a sec for tweets to load ) more contempt was the old football lge show when it was on the Beeb..with Manish presenting it. i'm sure i've mentioned this on here before but believe it or not, they DID NOT do a show on Boxing day...one of the biggest football days of the season. simply staggering. of course MOTD did. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00mfmt9/episodes/guide < no 26/12 and they didn't even do a catch up of games and put them in the next show. they acted like they didn't exist. credit to Quest who did do a Boxing day show. and I think Itv do now too. their show ain't that great. full of so many ads. no wonder they have no room for any punditry, even though Quest had ads too but still managed it. mind you with the pundits Itv would pick , that's probably a blessing in disguise. 🤣

Jeff Stelling had a nice little pop at the broadcasters promoting green football, on the Talksport Brekkie show this morn. he didn't just say it was making it awkward for fans travelling away. he specifically referenced the promotion of green football by them. mentioned this wk/ends 2 long evening away trips in PL televised. Newc in London sat eve 8pm kick off. and Man city down in Bournemouth 5.30 ish kick off. think he said you'd have to leave at half time to get the only train back. and it was probably gonna cost you £200 .!?

So according to the new Urinal Messiah (Jimmy Ratcliffe) he wants the new Wembley of the North at Gold Trafford!!
It would make more sense if the Northern clubs are spending more time at Wembley than the Southern clubs
30 odd thousand Scousers making their way down the M6 to London yesterday, that’s carbon neutral for sure 😳😳
Yes, but Chealski only had to fall out their front door and Wembley is there, so that counteracts that argument, but what of Newcastle v Urinals or Liverpool v City finals?
Maybe we should let the Urinals build the mega stadium, but I doubt the FA will allow any finals to be played at anywhere other than the Golden Arch
They’ll never get the sustainable tick from football fans travelling
Weren’t Bury or Kendall FC meant to be playing in the Isle of Man last week??
How would the Football Super League work as well? Liverpool v Real Madrid twice a season, plus many more
Football can never be Green

My inclination here and not through lack of interest re the Green weekend is to pick up rtf's Pink concert reference with a forcible ' So what?
As everyone has pointed out, flights, start times, over expensive and curtailed bus services, lack of bike racks - not one joined up and millions wasted on players ....it isn't football's responsibility alone to spare the incineration of our descendants.... But if anything is to be done, it has to be concerted, long- term.
Adeboyejo = approx 50 solar panels for average houses.Errr!

"pick up rtf's Pink concert reference with a forcible ' So what? "
not quite sure why the forcibly or why you think it wasn't relevant. I specifically mentioned in that post about Bundesliga games often having free train travel / and or bus etc with a match ticket. i suggested this as a constructive solution too.
contrast to our reduced bus service. we've not really seen how the stadium copes when faced with capacity crowds in recent years, especially when combined with a reduced bus service . the Pink concert ( I didn't go to it btw ) was that test with a high crowd level. apparently got 30k+ each night . the whole benefit of the match buses was priority access to the roads when they stopped all the other traffic to let them out.
with the Pink concert, i believe there were hardly any trains. apparently some special bus service park and ride, but not sure they'd given them any priority so they were just stuck in traffic. same with stories i'd heard about taxi's they just got trapped in traffic too. i've looked into catching a service bus to the game. trouble is again without any prioritisation, i can't see how the bus just doesn't get stuck in the traffic, especially coming back. going might be doable.
the marshalling of traffic at big games is also an issue. I once got caught up there after a Leeds game possibly in the Lennon era, when they'd obviously brought a good few over. on Middlebrook car park. absolute gridlock. so frustrating at the unnecessary delays. a pollution nightmare with nobody moving but everyone with engines on. you don't feel you can turn'em off even though you're not moving. some good old fashioned traffic cop style marshalling with someone just saying 10 or 20 from this way. all others stop then 10 from another way would massively help to shift the block, and would bring some order to the chaos. you'd feel like you'd get your turn.
