Phew. Joked that it would finish 3-3. Wasn't laughing towards the end.
Posh grabbed a late winner too. Let's hope they lose their players in January but we definitely need more steel in this team. We need this year's version of Keiran Lee coming in January

"Confident we might mess it up AGAIN 😡😡" After being 3 nil up. Cannot believe the Jekyl & Hyde performance Ped 3-0 up on 9 minutes and 48 seconds, then, total capitulation !! Derby Peterborough Pompey would have made that comeback with ease the way we folded. Then again, I doubt we’d have raced into a 3 goal lead against them either, but this is not ‘Top 2’ form and he has to strengthen and I mean, strengthen as we’ve absolutely no battlers and hold such a soft underbelly it’s embarrassing Chance now for a further 6 points in the next 2 games but bye eck, we’re gonna have to do much much better than that COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Actually chip, I don’t feel it is a happy end and it hasn’t cheered up my Christmas one bit, despite scraping the result. What the fook does Evatt say to the players at half time because whatever it is it doesn’t work? This isn’t the first time we’ve blown the second half of games we’ve been doing it all season. How can the same team be so good for 45 minutes then totally capitulate for the remainder? Somethings not right here, whether it’s the players mental weakness or just the psychology administered by Evatt, somethings not right. No other team, certainly not the top ones, seem to suffer from this. I’ve always been a committed Evatt fan but I’m afraid I’m quickly beginning to doubt he has what it takes to manage any higher. He is so one plan fixated that he never seems to read games like other successful managers and make the appropriate changes. Instead it’s just personnel changes not an answer to the questions other managers are asking. I know we’re still within shout of top two but really only just and with the other teams now finding form after early struggles, we seem to be going the other way. Good enough for top six but unless there are improvements in January, which I seriously doubt, I just don’t see us as a top two side or a top two manager!! 🤨

Whites 63'..... we were not good for 45mins!!!! We were bloody awful from the 3rd goal. Not only that, but if Evatt drops Forrester after his brilliant performance to bring back Santos he should be sacked

Looking at things slightly differently, I think at least two of our early goals were down to defensive errors, and then Orient got back onto their physical plan, and surprised us. They were helped in that by their centre backs physically holding Bodvarrson and Charles throughout, and, gaining more possession and confidence through this, were able to panic our defenders, not least Baxter, who wilts easily in the faced of heavy pressing.

Not only that, but if Evatt drops Forrester after his brilliant performance to bring back Santos he should be sacked Evatt will see it as we let them in the game because Santos wasn't there. Managers son syndrome. Really think we are really lacking that Steady the ship leader. Big Sam always knew the importance of an experienced head.

What a strange match.
Amazing first 10 minutes followed by a decent next 10 then a slackening off followed by an awful second half.
After all that, the manager is right when he says that the result is what mattered and we got 3 points to put us right back in the picture.
We set off like a house on fire with Jones and Dacres-Cogley combining for a centre which somehow Bodvarsson stood on (I think) and was cleared. We could have been 1-0 after 30 seconds.
We were though 3-0 up after 10 minutes with some terrific attacking play. Dacres-Cogley was put through by Bodvarsson and took his chance well, Charles robbed their defender and again took his chance well from a difficult angle and then Charles put Thomason clean through. The keeper saved his first effort but the ball rolled back to Thomason for a simple tap-in.
3-0 after 10 minutes – amazing.
We attacked again and their keeper blocked a couple of shots and then went down injured.
And that was what changed the game.
While he was being treated the managers got the players together for a talk. Orient’s manager obviously deserves credit because from that moment on Orient pressed us at the back. We couldn’t pass the ball about between the defence and couldn’t walk it upfield. They pressed us, as did Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers, and we lost all shape to our game.
We were still winning though but the fluency had gone.
Right on the stroke of half time, an Orient defender made an awful back pass which left Charles clean through one on one with the keeper but having initially looked to have done everything right, he somehow got his feet in a tangle and poked a gilt-edged chance wide.
Second half, we just did not play.
Passes were awful, midfield was dead and Orient pressed us strongly. Thomason and Jones between them messed a play-out up and Orient broke and scored. And within 5 minutes, Iredale was caught out and a pass inside was brilliantly struck in from the edge of the box.
It was now panic station and Orient swarmed all over us.
I think we had one attack in the first 25 minutes of the second half.
Somehow we held on until the 95th minute when a corner resulted in Jerome clearing off the line.
In the end, we did not deserve to win but as the manager says, it was a vital win.
Once we start to struggle all our fluency disappears.
We need to get down to much stronger solid play for the next 2 away games.
Marks:-
Baxter - 6 Some messing up with balls out from the back. Cannot be blamed for the goals
Dacres-Cogley - 7 Took his goal really well. Second half was difficult
Jones - 6 Started well down the right with Dacres-Cogley. Badly at fault, along with Thomason, for the first goal which seemed to drain all confidence out of us
Toal - 7 Won numerous high balls
Forester - 7 Steady but under pressure in the second half
Iredale - 5 Started well but second half was caught out a few times defensively
Thomason - 6 As with everyone, started well. Lost possession for their first goal
Sheehan - 5 Spent too long passing backwards to the keeper
Dempsey - 5 Energetic in the first half but badly ran out of steam
Bodvarsson - 7 Held the ball up well upfront
Charles - 6 Busy as usual. Won his goal from pure persistence. Missed a one on one which would have made it 4-0
Adeboyejo - 5 One half chance which was blocked but, unlike Bodvarsson, could not retain the ball
Jerome - 6 Brilliant clearance off the line in the 95th minute
