‘They don’t get much bigger than this’ he said, sarcastically
Although, they are above us in the league table
Following a home thrashing by Oxford 3-1 they’ll want a response and where better to get it than at the ReeMac
We don’t score many, so it’ll be another case of, can we keep them out??
I’d hope so
1-0

A great opportunity coming along now.
When we get to October 16th, we will have played 16 games including cup ties.
Of those 16, we’ll have had 12 at home and just 4 away.
What a quirk in the fixture list that is, so we should hope (no expect!) that we are pretty close to the top with that advantage.
The next 3 matches, all at home, are against promoted teams – will they have lost their “just promoted” confidence – I would hope so.
On to Stevenage.
Obviously a hard working side and from the viewing of their goals on the highlights programmes, apparently high balls into the box dominate.
I would like to see the same 11 as started against Port Vale – they have earned it.
We seem to move better in midfield with Morley, Sheehan and Dempsey so, for me, Thomason must stay on the subs bench.
If Adeboyejo is fit (yet another injury!), he would also be on the bench. If there is to be a change upfront, I would prefer Bodvarsson to partner Charles. His last 2 performances have been good.
It may well be hard work on the night but I will go for a 2-1 win and the start of a positive run.

Well I don’t like to be dismissive of other teams but quite frankly if we can’t take all 9 points from our next 3 games then we can’t consider ourselves as serious automatic contenders. After a good start Stevenage have only actually won once in their last five games so I’m assuming that their early season success was down to the positive feeling from last years promotion and now realism is taking over. No disrespect but like Carlisle and Northampton I expect these to be nearer the bottom than top by the end of the season. On that basis I’m expecting a good result tomorrow. I’d not have a problem with Dan starting with Dion again because I thought it looked a good pairing but I just wish Dan would spend more time facing goal instead of back to it. Against United kids he showed what he can do when he does and with his pace, strength and skill there’s no reason he shouldnt really put teams to the sword. Id also like to see us shoot more because yet again on Saturday there were numerous opportunities to do it not taken. A fast start and we could have the game won by HT but we must start taking those chances whilst we’re on top.that’s the sign of a good team and I think we are a good team and the next 3 games are a perfect time to show it. I think we will so 3-0 to the Wanderers.

I think Ian Evatt comes in here to see your posts before naming his starting 11 davidm😂😂 No seriously, you always seem to be on the money, so perhaps he does🤔

It's our midfield or lack of it that's the problem. Dempsey and Sheehan are poor and Thomason will be lucky not to see red.

Scrap book notes on the performance so far
Lacklustre Bullied Rabbits in headlights Can’t handle physical sides Refs ruining the game We are god awful Toal to blame Not as good as Evatt has us believe 48 minutes of reasons why we will not get out of League One with Evatt
Q: If we win tonight…. How???

I don’t know what it is with us but we must start mixing it and bang it up front more to try and get our strikers involved. When we play it quickly we look good but still pissing around at the back still 1-1 halftime COYWM

This is horrendous. Stevenages' goalkeeper has been a spectator. Just stop with this boring pass sideways between the back three and the goalkeeper before giving the ball away on the halfway line. Stevenage are direct and threatening. Nlunludo's ball control is poor. Hope the second half is a VAST improvement.

I genuinely can’t believe what I’m seeing. Not only are we abysmal in every aspect the stupidity in tackles/fouls is just mind blowing. We are so slow and this stand on the ball and fanny about at the back is just ridiculous and needs to stop. We can’t do anything physically but we can at least try and move the ball quicker and hope we create something. It will be a miracle if we get anything out of that if nothing changes and what chance us finishing with 11 men??

Unless we get someone sent off or Evatt changes tactics we are on a trajectory for a 1-3 defeat maybe with ten men.
Both sides are weak on transition. So, if we can lay deeper, get some cover for our central pair who cannot keep a high line being outclassed aerially and on the floor and then ourselves break, we do have the ball strengths to succeed.
Secondly Llundulu must come off. He's given one goal away and lost the ball continually. We must hold it up and definitely keep Charles out of our half.
It seems at times as if only Charles is permitted to shoot. We will get chances and must be decisive.
We are making some horrendous mispasses ( as are they) Again we need to be quicker and at times longer. Sheehan is doing well. Thomasson too but neither he nor Iredale look likely to survive if we expose them to Stevenage's rather good transitional play
Fortunately again despite the booing the ref has been excellent. Could easily have sent Iredale off and hasn't been deceived by play acting

Goal and after three shots! Now we need to correct the rest of it lest they are allowed to reciprocate
