At this stage of the season and the damage they’ve just caused to Sheff Wednesday (and they have a long throw expert) I’d take a scrappy win I’d even take a scrappy point
Although we should have enough to scab the win as at Exeter and Oxford
We could be the new Arsenal (one nil, to the Wanderers)
COYWM Let’s sew this up, please😬😬😬😬 ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

We also need to bolster our goal difference. It's so tight on points, that goal difference could be crucial.

Another 1-0 win for the whites, I can feel it in my water. They've had a game and a few days practice to nail down our new line up and roles. Football is life 🤞

Like our L2 promotion campaign. Some horrible games to watch. The odd goal wins l, defending an early lead like FGR, Salford and Morecambe. But we did enough.
One thing about the back line is they are unlikely to be try the backwards, Santos ball stuff. Think MJ will be more Peter Kay 'Ave it!'and getting rid, which I don't mind.
On paper Burtons win at Wednesday seemed a great result and was but FGR and Duncan Ferguson beat that Wednesday side. They seem to have bottled it.
Despite not playing well we are unbeaten since Wembley. So have shown grit if nothing else.
The 3 home games after this Shrewsbury, Accrington, Fleetwood are the real ones to win. We could take 9 points from those. Though rarely works out but hopefully 8 pts from these 4, stay unbeaten should be job done before our last game at Bristol.
1-1 tomorrow. But a win takes pressure off a lot

I admire the optimism here but I actually can’t see us getting anything from this tonight other than a bit of a pasting. We absolutely know what’s coming from Burton and the fact is that we just don’t have the height and strength at the back to withstand it. They did Wednesday on Saturday aerially and they’re masters of it and the Owls aren’t a small team. If we resort to just hoofing the ball back to them instead of retaining it as we did at Oxford and against Cambridge second half they will eventually overcome us and if we’re sitting back and letting them with little or no ambition of going forward I can’t see where we’ll score to counter it. It’s another one where our manager will have scared the life out of the players before they go out so half the jobs already done for Burton. I do wish instead of worrying too much about the opposition he’d fire the team up to play to our strengths instead because we have the players to hurt Burton if he’d just do that. So I’m afraid my forecast is one of doom and gloom and that our recent luck will run out tonight and we could suffer our heaviest defeat of the season. 3-0 to Burton I’m afraid. 🙁

Had Sheff Wednesday took their chances it could have easily been 4-4 Not sure Vic is the answer tonight as they’ll know all about his ‘strengths’ and certainly his weaknesses so I’d give Kachunga the shirt first alongside Dion, go for Vic after 60 mins if we’re struggling MJ, Jones and Johnston will have a bloody nightmare against their crosses into the box, I’d be tempted to put Jerome in there to add a bit of height !!!!! Is there no positive news on the injury front (Toal - Santos) Gonna be a real tough one tonight and Dion will do well to add to his 20 goals but it depends on Evatt, does he let them worry about us or just go for it and let them have the mither COYWM We can do it….. can’t we 😬😬😬 ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Yes, Burton did us last year and we know how they play. And Yes, they have just beaten Sheff Wed and Barnsley at home. Did you see the start of the Barnsley match when Brayford blatantly handled the ball on the line and got away with it. A decent set of eyes on the officials and it would have been an early penalty to Barnsley and Burton down to 10 men. I’ve only seen the goals from the Sheff Wed match and it is what is expected – high balls and up and at ‘em. So they have done well against Sheff Wed and Barnsley but lost 5-2 at home to Peterborough and 4-0 to Shrewsbury so they are very beatable. Defensively, we don’t have much choice as the only standing defenders must play – we are unlucky to have lost 4 6ft+ defenders, which is tough. I need the midfield to get back to Wembley form. The last 3 matches have seen us struggle in an area where we should be so strong. Hopefully rumours of a knee injury to Charles (our only proper goalscorer) are untrue. We need a couple of goals tonight as endless high balls into the box will probably see us conceding one but we are good enough and importantly WE ARE A BETTER SIDE THAN BURTON. So for me a 2-1 win.

If Burtons direct play was so unstoppable they would be up near the top wouldn't they?
They beat a Wednesday who must have had jelly for legs.

I don’t dispute a word of that David and agree we are a better side than Burton but that assumes we’ll play our game to our strengths and that’s where I have a concern. We put absolutely no pressure on Oxford on Saturday after the break, just kept hoofing the ball back to them which just created another attack for them and increased pressure on us. Only once did we actually keep the ball, pass it and create a move which Dempsey wasted by firing over the top. You’d have thought they’d have learned from it but no, it was back to panicked clearances again leaving us all with bitten nails. When we have the ball, they can’t do anything so surely in this game if we’re fortunate to get a lead, don’t just try to defend it. Go for another, put the pressure on Burton because the more men we pull back the more they’re able to commit forward and frankly against this attack I genuinely don’t see us keeping them out as we’ve done recently. We don’t know how other teams set up against Burton which may be why some have had good results but tonight Burton know for certain that we’re vulnerable at the back and will seek to take advantage at every opportunity. I’m not saying we can’t win, just that from recent performances tonight I think we’ll struggle.

It don't matter how we do it just come away from Burton with no new injuries or players sent off just take what they throw at us and try to get a win if not don't get beat. They and teams like them are what's wrong with football because they just waste time and try to get away with anything they can, we need a strong referee to get a grip from the start, it will not be pretty all hands to the pump onwards and upwards 2-2 COYWM
