A bit of a struggle that. A great goal – the pass and the finish. We have had a couple of chances to set Charles clear but each time we overhit the pass. Defensively, we look iffy in the air. Each time the ball comes into the area, we look unsure. We need to speed up our play a bit and be more solid in defence. I do feel there’s a goal from a set piece for Exeter if we’re not careful, we’ve been woeful in the air and lucky on occasion, but we’ve also had a few opportunities to have gone in at least 2-0 up Wish someone would gag that Caldwell, he sounds like an angry Jimmy Krankie dancing up and down the touch line COYWM there’s 3 teams now on 67 points, this has to be a win

Can’t add much to that, we’ve had 3 perfectly good chances to go one on one with the keeper and carelessly over hit the pass each time, just need a bit more composure and at the back, if we get through this without conceding from a high cross we’ll be very lucky, how much we are missing Rico and Toals height and strength. We certainly need another quickly because this lot are the late goal specialist with 6 or 8 after the 89th minute.

This is becoming a very hard watch it seems as if we have settled for 1-0 and we are just sitting back. I’m screaming at the television for us to get the ball forward COYWM

Williams R and Mbete are becoming our Achilles heel at the moment

There’s to many players pulling out of tackles and just letting Exeter stroll around our penalty box or is it just me seeing it differently COYWM

3 nil 4 nil 5 nil
1 nil
It’s all worth 3 points and a very very valuable, if not struggled performance and win
Well done Trotters, that’s as big a win as beating Plymouth last week In my book
Now another 3 on Monday and that will make my 🐣 Easter a happy one

Don’t know what was said at half time but why resort to long ball when we’d cut them open regularly at the back playing football and but for 3 wasted passes losing one on ones with their keeper we could have been well ahead. Not to be but it’s horrible when you just keep lumping the ball back to Exeter the way we did. Never mind, 3 more extremely valuable points and hopefully another 3 on Monday but chickens and count come to mind!! 😉

I expect a much harder game but I think we will grind out a 1-0 victory. Well I forecast a hard fought 1-0 and it certainly was. Pure hard work got us through that because in all honesty we shouldn’t have won as Exeter dominated the 2nd half totally. The 1st half was even. We did some decent passing and likewise so did Exeter. We looked in trouble every time the ball came into the box but somehow scrambled things away. And then we scored when Bradley broke through the centre and Sheehan provided a tremendous pass. Bradley popped the ball through the keeper’s legs. A really good goal. Exeter had the ball in the net from a corner. We looked dreadful defending corners but the ref spotted a hand ball and we got away. Exeter then hit the bar with a header and Johnston magnificently cleared off the line. We had 2 great chances to send Charles clean through but first Kachunga and then Dempsey overhit their passes and the chances were gone. Charles did get clear on the left once but shot too straight to the keeper. So 1-0 at half time from an average performance. Second half was totally different in that Exeter came at us and dominated for nearly all of the 90 minutes but we somehow survived. It was panic stations at the back though Thomason almost snatched a 2nd goal late on but it was our only shot in the 2nd half of any quality. So a 1-0 scrappy win – I’ll take 10 more of them please. Marks:- Trafford - 8 Some very good catches under pressure Bradley - 7 Good goal. A brilliant run into space. A few scruffy defensive moments Jones - 6 More steady than dominant but good enough Johnston - 7 Not really a central centre back being so one-footed but he won what he had to. Beaten in the air too often Mbete - 5 Some decent touches but beaten too often. Lost possession too many times John - 6 Not sure why he was subbed. Not the greatest defender which I think was the reason but al least passed the ball to a Bolton shirt Sheehan - 7 Good 1st half topped off with an excellent through pass for the goal. Not in the game in the 2nd half Morley - 6 Steady but like the rest of the team, just not in it in the 2nd half Dempsey - 6 Had a great chance to send Charles clean through but overhit his pass Charles - 6 Some good movement. There were 2 occasions when he was clear but the pass to him as awful Kachunga - 5 Reasonable for the first 25 minutes but he just disappeared into his normal really average performance Williams R - 4 His involvement for the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half was appalling. Caught out of position, no marking, shocking passing. Improved towards the end Nlundulu - 5 Chased around a lot but to little effect Adeboyejo - 5 Hard to think what he did Williams MJ - 6 Brought some aggression to the midfield when it was needed Thomason - 6 Stupid booking but also almost scored

Once again a very good example of what Santos means to us. That was a torrid second half, and once again our defenders were running alongside opponents without getting tackles in, and when they did win the ball, gave it back to Exeter. I thought the referee made many mistakes, too, frequently giving free kicks to Exeter which should have gone our way, or waving play on after fouls on our players. Hopefully Santos will appear on Monday or we'll struggle again at the back against long balls.

For quite a few reasons, I’m giving the whole team a 10 out of 10⚽️⚽️⚽️🤔🤔
I think, given that there was probably immense pressure on the boys after that Wembley show and also that we were 2 influential men down (Santos and Toal)
Exeter thrashed and I mean thrashed, a very good Barnsley team the last time they played at home, an even bigger home crowd for them today and also given that the other teams kept up the pressure on us for a play off spot (Derby and Peterborough)
That’s a massive 3 points and away from home
Well done Trotters
Now follow that up with a home win against a tricky, lump it into our box Cambridge (anyone would have me believe Dion Dublin is still up front for them) and that will make my Easter 🐣 COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Result was all important today and they got a great result. Especially with Posh and Derby winning.
Slight concern that the Jan incomings look poor. Would anyone not have rather seen Dapo, Sadlier and Aimson.
We move on that was crucial.

Spot on OoooM I actually meant to go on and say that I’m not impressed at all with Randell, Vic, Shoretire Mbete, with Shoretire the only excitable prospect of them all and he’s a bit of a flash in the pan that we can manage without

I have to agree to a point rioch, give me Aimson, Sads and definitely Dapo who’s now proving his worth in Germany for any of our January signings and I think we’d be stronger but we are where we are and that’s fifth in the table which we can’t complain about plus a game in hand which being at home to Accy should be worth 3 points? I’m not completely writing Vic off because I think he needs a full pre season to really fit in and as for Shoretire, I don’t think we’ve seen anywhere near the best from him but to be honest I’m not sure where he fits in now we’ve got Sheehan and Thomason back. It’s at Centre back I have concerns because we now have no cover at all if anyone else gets injured or sent off. I know people say that MJ could fill that role but I hope we don’t have to rely on him if he does. As a wild card I wondered if Cameron could fit in there? There have been lots of examples of older centre forwards dropping back and making a good job of it. He’s big and strong so could add that aerial height and power that we lack a bit with the 3 in there at the moment? After Exeter, despite how well we defended, I still think we looked weak on corners and crosses and I wouldn’t class Exeter as being a one dimensional team like Cambridge will be on Monday. Hopefully we can pot enough at the other end to allow for a slip or two at the back but if Rico’s now out for a month, virtually the season, then what looked on paper like a straightforward run in now looks very different and I’m sure teams will know that and play on it.
