Ok So it’s the ‘proper’ battle v Pompey
Dapo is a gonner so let’s crack on They presented a stern test last week and I feel this one will be even tougher That said, no reason we cannot go and beat them Will Randell and Nlundulu play from the start? Who knows We have enough to win this and I sincerely hope we do, with style
Daft thing, if Pompey win all their games in hand, they would be a point behind us so we need to cement this play off spot with a win. Teams as far down as Exeter in 11th are really only a couple of wins away from a play off spot and no doubt are waiting for one of the top 6 to falter, we need to be sure it’s not us
COYWM Let’s do this⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

I thought we were actually quite lucky to win on Tuesday, other than the goal we scored they seemed to move the ball around much better than we did. Obviously the starting eleven will be completely different, especially in midfield and also hopefully Toal and Aimson will return. I expect Williams to start but not DannL who I think will come on after 60. I think Dion and Bod deserve to start because they’ve done pretty well so far and it would be good if we had a steady strike force. Pompey didn’t seem to have much up front so if we can steal an early goal again I think there’s a good chance we’ll build on it this time so Wanderers to win 2-0.

I think this will be my last season of travelling to the home games onwards and upwards COYWM Don’t give up Chip – it is in our blood and it is a lifetime job. On to today. I expect (hope) that we will start with the 11 who played Plymouth last Saturday. The back 3 of Toal, Aimson and Johnston must be retained after their recent performances. I think that Nlundulu will start on the bench, to be brought on around the usual 65 minute mark. Again, it will be a tight match. We were not at our best on Tuesday and reading the Portsmouth press, they played as they have played for weeks – toothless. Let’s hope that that continues. We need to win – a few too many draws recently – so a good attacking show and a 2-0 win.

Get innnn⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
I’m liking the look of Dan The Man Nlundulu from the few minutes he’s been on the pitch He looks confident, tricky and quite clever. Anyone notice his ‘give and go’ just before Dion’s volley? He could be our new JayJay (well, not quite😂)
Come on lads Keep focused and let’s get a third to kill this game off⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Good win. Keeper and back three very solid. Aimson leads well. All basics covered. Whole team very good out of possession.
In possession less secure but Lee and Morley very neat. Bodvarsson did well before injury. That helped Charles. If his goal was a tad lucky he had at least had the first shot. Amazing how things develop when we shoot!
Portsmouth were for a while the better team first half and had one very good headed chance- missed! Second half a lovely take down by Dempsey won the time to get Pompey backpedalling and Lee's second ball finish was precise and calm. Same was true for Toal after some neat right side interplay. Our new player was a bit Ricketts like strong and thoughtful.
Not a great game but a comfortable winning one
Trafford 7 Toal 8 Aimson 9 Johnston 7 Bradley 5 Lee 8 Dempsey 7 Williams 6 Bodvarsson 5 Charles7 Morley 7 Dan N 6 Other subs held own but game dead by then

A very good result.
Not 100% sparkling football throughout but easily good enough to be a toothless Portsmouth for the 2nd time in a week.
We had a dire first 3 or 4 minutes when we actually needlessly gave the ball away 5 times but shook ourselves out of it and played well for half an hour.
We had a couple of near misses before Charles scored after Williams’ cross shot found him. It was a deserved lead at that stage. We then relaxed/dropped off for the rest of the first half and, similar to Tuesday’s match, allowed Portsmouth to have a lot of the ball.
Portsmouth had 2 really good chances in the 1st half – firstly when their centre half scooped the ball over the ball from 10 yards and then an even easier chance when the other centre half had a clear header from a corner and somehow put it wide. Two chances that they should have scored from but we had had quite a few scrambles in their area.
Second half we had the best possible start when Dempsey broke down the right and scooped over a centre. The Portsmouth keeper made a terrible hash of an easy catch and the ball fell on the edge of the area to Lee to score with an excellent shot. It wasn’t an easy chance but he took it well.
Effectively the game was over then and, as on Tuesday, we slackened off and let Portsmouth have loads of the ball but they were hopeless. They had another header from a corner which went over the bar. We really need to sort out defending corners as we could have conceded 2 goals from them today. They also got a shot in which Trafford dealt with well.
We then put together a lovely passing move which moved us from defence to the edge of their area and Toal scored with a brilliant side foot placement. Lovely goal.
In the end a great score line. Maybe not as flowing as some other games but very good.
Marks:-
Trafford - 7 As is now usual, not a great deal to do but he caught well and saved well when he had to. Bradley - 7 Very positive again Toal - 8 Tremendous. Very good in defence and a fabulous goal. Aimson - 8 Yet again, he defended so well. No frills or fancy flicks – just rock solid defending. Johnston - 7 Good again. Williams R - 6 Some good touches but he did give away/mishit a number of passes. Dempsey - 7 Good. Linked well with Lee Morley - 7 Played well Lee - 7 Lovely shot from a difficult position for his goal. As is usually the case, he made the midfield tick over well. Bodvarsson - 7 Injured and replaced. Up to then he had played well. I hope his injury is not bad as he and Charles are linking up so well. Charles - 7 A nuisance all game. Took his goal well. Nlundulu - 6 Promising. A cracking shoulder charge to win the ball. Kachunga - 5 Came on to replace Charles but played deep. Williams MJ - 6 Sheehan - 5 Santos -5
