Was going to link both games in together but in truth I expect the two games to be completely different.
Appreciate what DavidM and others say that these games have been enjoyable to watch and encouraging to see some of our good football result in goals but even now I cannot get behind this and long for the days of championship football with no PJ Cups and 3rd round FA Cup(its been far too long)
But disappointed to learn that this does not count as Dapos final ban game, but may be a good tune up so he's in. Santos, Jones also need match time so in. If Beck has ousted DJ then he needs to start showing the logic behind that thinking(I don't think there was much) so in.
Keeper? I would be controversial again and rest Trafford and bring back Dixon. I don't think he's Crellin bad(that said I want him no where near a league match) got to throw the guy a bone, though he would probably come to collect it, flap at it and land it on the head of am opposing player.
RWB- is Isgrove anywhere fit? Not sure sort of goes off the radar unless I've missed something. If not would go Sadlier.
Middle will be saving Morley, Lee and Dempsey so MJ and Sheehan to play above Dapo and a front paring of Kachunga and Baka.
Dixon Jones Santos Johnson Sadlier ________Beck ____MJ___Sheeran ________Dapo_______ Bakayoko ____Kachunga
So my only spot is LCB. Could go again with Johnson. I assume DJ will not feature. Not sure if there's any B teasers who could do that.
And on Saturday only Johnson would keep thier place. Actually think this team is good enough to beat Pompey(unsure what team they send, might they not send a first team up knowing it will cause havoc on thier preparation for Saturday?)
Promise its not completely a sabotage effort. Lot of experience in there.

I think there’s every chance you’ll be close with that starting team OM. The only thing that could affect that is Evatt’s desire to make a Wembley final and playing a pretty strong team. Having said that, as much as I want us to win, I also think that we need to save something for the real big match on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if there’s any reaction from the Portsmouth players to the removal of the Cowley’s? I know it’s not exactly “new manager bounce” but sometimes it still has a positive effect? I’m not watching 5his tonight, too much to do and don’t think it’ll be too much of a pointer to Saturday as both teams will be different. I hope we win though so I’ll go 2-1 to the Wanderers.

As you have said, the previous games in this cup have been really entertaining.
Tonight might be more difficult as it is hard to work out what team either side may put out.
There has been something in the way that Mr Evatt has spoken about this cup that says he desperately wants to get to Wembley so I am expecting a strong side.
I disagree on the keeper. I do not want Dixon to play; we need to stick with Trafford.
I expect Jones and Santos to start. Perhaps give Bradley a rest before Saturday.
Afolayan will presumably start and I fear a front two of Kachunga and Bakayoko.
This will be our most difficult match so far in this cup and it will be tight so maybe a 1-0 win

I’m m not buying into this Papa John Pizza trophy either, although there’s been some pretty decent football been played by the Trotters Would I go to Wembley if we reach the final?? Probably, just like most 2 faced fans😂😂
Got to be honest though, after watching the FA Cup Stevenage-Villa game and the Sheff Wed-Newcastle game, it really got my attention and made me quite angry that we are not in the FA cup, especially being dumped, at home, by Barnsley in the first round Watching Barnsley’s journey, it’s interesting to have put us in their shoes to see their journey unfold. They got Crewe in the second round and beat them 3-0 to set up an away tie at Derby, where they fell by the wayside, beaten 3-0 themselves.
So had we been Barnsley, I’d have fancied our current run to have given Derby a much better game, probably even beaten them to set up a home tie against Wet Spam
I’d have fancied us at home v WH

100 years since the white horse final and we could have had West Ham at home*
*not really though because if we beat Derby then the numbers in the hat don't correlate the same. Spoil sport way of looking at it.
Wonder what the attendance will be tonight.
If we did get to Wembley think anyone with ticket stubs for two of the group games or more should get a free ticket.

Well hand on heart, even if we get to Wembley in this tin pot competition, I can honestly say I wouldn't go, that's what Evatt has done to me.

Would swap 3 points on Saturday for a Wembley win to be honest. Save the Wembley win for May.

No Dapo? Or Jones?
To be honest Dapo let us down badly and could have cost us. If there's any money in him at all I'd snap thier hands off.

Must be something cooking OM otherwise he’d definitely have been starting tonight. Question is where but I can’t help thinking if he does go that we’ve missed a trick.

Can’t tell Santos is back can you, resume the slowly slowly rubbish, walking pace football. Bring back Aimson.

Been an ok half so far and a well taken goal from Bod Dion looks hungry (so that’s him subbed off on 67 mins😂) We do still like to walk the ball in though when a cross or shot is more favourable Pompey have almost had us on a few occasions, so this game is not won by a long chalk
COYWM Let’s have another⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
PS Was it Santos with a 60 yard pass on 33 seconds?? Don’t know if it was to Dion but whoever it was to, had they won the ball it would have been the pass of the season

Horrid scrap that second half but it’s completely proved to me that Kacha and Baka MUST go in this window, they are terrible, lightweight, poor in possession, lousy touch and offer nowt
Well done Trotters but we’ll have to do better on Saturday than that

I thought we were overall awful tonight and somewhat fortunate I think to win. No cohesion at all, outpassed, outjumped and outtackled especially second half but somehow we managed to scrape through. Bright spots were Williams (not MJ) who looks useful and again Toal who’s really growing into the side. Also some good saves and handling from Trafford but his long kicking is awful. I’m sure it will be a different side on Saturday so let’s hope for a similar or better result which I’m sure we can get against this team.
