Barnsley have only been beaten once since they beat us 2-1 at the ReeMac on Bommy Night in the FA Cup and that was in an EFL cup game at Port Vale
That said, they were beaten 3 times in October by below average teams in Exeter, Morecambe and Lincoln, so we mustn’t fear them.
We are almost identical in wins, draws, losses, goals for and against and current form is almost the same
We had 3 draws one win and one defeat in December (pi55 poor) Barnsley had 3 wins and a draw, each win yielding 2 goals scored, Andy Cole’s lad doing the damage
I couldn’t predict this, but if I were a betting man, we would have to win 1-0 as we will not score beyond one goal
Such a strange league this League one Got to take your hat off to Gareth Ainsworth at Wycombe We hammered them 3-0 and now look at them, they’ve just done what Wycombe always do under GA, started to climb the league, just as they have in swapping places with us in the Play Off zone
FGR, who once beat us, rooted to the foot of the table and Cheltenham, another team that beat us, beaten away again, Morecambe thumping Burton for 5 without reply, when we had to rely on 90 plus minutes to snatch a late winner against them and Fleetwood, whom we beat recently beating Shrewsbury 3-0, who we lost to so badly when we capitulated from a 2-1 victory to snatch defeat at the death
One thing is for sure though, Ipswich and Plymouth continue to swap first and second places between them and look a certainty to go up

Dapo out for 3 games for the elbow. It's gone to panel and guilty verdict so assume that it was an obvious elbow that could have left us a man down.
Too cynical to suggest that he doesn't now play in the January window, no injury risk while negotiations are ongoing?
Does it put off any bidders knowing a). He won't be available from the start(think of a struggling relegation team near the foot of championship, dare I say a Wigan) and b.) Actually may be a bit petulant this lad. If they saw the Derby game too(assume they would) he cut a frustrated unhappy figure keen to go down every challenge. Some were fouls but the ref had already made his mind up on him.
And us if we can do a quick deal get some funds in early we can buy a striker that does suit the system.
Anyway evatt said we lacked our pressing game. Dapo out. SuperK to save the day. Kachunga sure to start today. The Goal vacuum.
Therefore 2-0 Barnsley.

We are in need of a pick me up from this game.
Current form is nothing like play-off (promotion?) form. Barnsley – 6 wins and 1 draw form last 7 games. BWFC - 2 wins, 4 draws, 2 defeats from last 8. A major difference in form.
But we have a decent record at Oakwell – I was there to see a Craig Dawson winner, a Neil Danns winner, a Michael Ricketts winner so there is hope.
There will obviously be changes after Lincoln and Afolayan’s folly. I definitely would expect Iredale to be back at left wing back so Trafford, Toal, Aimson, Johnston, Bradley and Iredale. Midfield he may try and toughen it up with both Williams and Morley and maybe even Dempsey too but I would go back to our skilful players – Morley, Lee and Sheehan. Upfront, surely it is time to pair up Charles and Bodvarsson. But who knows, our manager has a knack of surprising (shocking?) us with his team.
Anyway, time to start getting results. No conceding first and desperately trying get back into the game.
Always the optimist, I think we will win this 1-0

YESSSSSS Get innn JDB for 2-0 Proper cock up from their right back and the keeper and JDB finds himself all over the place but still toe pokes a gift
Straight away though, 10 man Tykes almost pull one back from Luca Connell with a blaster
Come on Wanderers keep focused ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
Other results not very helpful so far, but we can only win ours

Somehow we sit with a two goal lead v 10 men! But in possession we are really poor, missing easy passes and overhitting through balls.
Lee is our outstanding player but several others especially Bradley are really struggling. Charles nervously fluffed two chances and the penalty and red card were both dubious. But he took it well.
We are doing well out of possession but the game is not secure. I hope Evatt keeps Santos in the hutch- he would surely be a red card risk in this context. Jones however should replace Bradley.
We just need a bit more calmness.
We could lose this from here- especially with a red card but equally we could get two more with composure. We are ahead because of Barnsley blunders.

Are we that bad that Barnsley can score 3 from 10 men??? I bloody well hope not
COYWM
It’s a bit worrying watching this first 8 minutes of the second half, we are gifting them comfortable possession and looking shaky at the back Come on Whites, they only have 10 men, stop pi55in about playing possession football and just go and kill the game off

Excellent that. Only complaint perhaps is that it could have been better than 3-0 but that's being greedy. Great first half. Sloppy second half until the 3rd goal finished them off

My half time worries increased for twenty minutes or so but that sublime Dempsey goal settled everything
We were committed, won most 50: 50 balls and our Santosless defence is of course much improved- it's far easier for Trafford and also Johnston who has been excellent recently
Subs were well timed. Kachunga makes a lot of difference to hold up play and forward ball retention . It all quietened down. Jones too settled things noticeably particularly when he got to the right. There was some good, a moment of excellence and some lacklustre to poor even downright poor in Bradley's case. But an invaluable win .
Trafford 7 Toal 7 Aimson 6 Johnston 8 Bradley 1Iredale 5 Morley 6 Lee 8 Dempsey 7 Charles 6 Bodvarsson 5 Jones 7 Bakayoko 2 the rest 5

Pleasing as the result is, our defence looked decidedly shaky against their 10 men for most of the second half, Aimson and Johnston with hasty clearances several times. I wonder how we managed to get three great balls to Charles at the start of the game( at least one should have gone in before the penalty), and were never again able to repeat them, even with one of their central defenders dismissed. The third goal was worth waiting for, and I made Dempsey our best player throughout the game. Good to see Jones back and playing well.

A very good performance.
We started like a train – Charles could have had 2 goals by the 10th minute. He shot wide when he got clear down the right and then seemed to be pulled back in the area but broke clear to shoot over. It could easily have been a penalty but presumably the ref gave advantage when Charles got clear.
We had made those chances by Charles breaking on the shoulder of the centre back and again it happened and Charles was clear in the box. He was pulled back again but this time the referee gave a penalty and sent their centre half off. It must have been frustrating for Barnsley as it could easily have been just a yellow.
No problem though and Charles scored easily from the spot.
We were absolutely dominant at this stage and we continually passed through Barnsley who hardly had a touch.
Our 2nd goal was lucky though thanks to a cock up between the keeper and centre back. Bodvarsson challenged and from the melee the ball fell to Bodvarsson to roll in. Credit to Bodvarsson for perseverance.
Barnsley then had their only attempt on goal in the final minute of the half when Connell’s shot was well saved by Trafford with the follow up shot going just wide.
A deserved first half lead – the only complaint being that we should have been more than 2-0 up.
Second half and Barnsley roused themselves. They dominated for a good 20 minutes with a couple of shots going just wide and Trafford pushing a shot round the post.
At this stage, we had lost the control we had in the first half but it was all sorted when Jones, Dempsey and Lee combined for Dempsey to break clear and slip a shot past the keeper.
We could have scored more and being greedy I wanted more but it was an excellent performance.
Marks:-
Trafford - 6 A couple of good saves but no great worries Bradley - 6 Not his normal fluency but good enough. Toal - 7 Just good defending Aimson - 8 I like a defender who can defend – no messing around just defend. Johnston - 7 A couple of misplaced clearances when we were under the cosh in the 2nd half but overall good Iredale - 6 Good. Not the greatest wing back as most crosses went to the keeper but fine Dempsey - 7 One of his better games. Involved throughout and a cracking goal Morley - 7 Very busy. If he had his shooting boots on we could have got more Lee - 9 Excellent. Always involved Bodvarsson - 6 Awake enough to pinch the 2nd goal. Decent performance Charles - 8 Scared the life out of the Barnsley defence and set the standard for the game Jones - 7 Did well as left wing back when Iredale was injured Kachunga - 6 Bakayoko - 6 Sadlier - 7 Sheehan - 6

I’m not going to say ‘comfortably’ but we’ve just done one of our best away results, without Santos and Dapo
I just feel that with Barnsley gaining momentum from the second half whistle and having more of the ball, apart from a few cock ups and poorly cleared passes and kick outs, had Santos been playing, our right and left backs would probably have done more dangerous clearances and tackles in the hope that the big man can clean up, but without him, we seem to be more combative and controlling at the back
I’m totally crap at predictions and said we’d need a 1-0 win (clean sheet) as we get vertigo beyond one goal and then they go and do that!!
Have to say though, how crap is this league really when the likes of that Barnsley side are just a goal behind us?? I know they went down to 10 and perhaps that Masson chap might have plugged a gap, but for all of their huffing and puffing, we really had nowt to worry about
Lincoln getting the surprise result of the day perhaps gives a little bit more credit to our point there wouldn’t you agree?
Great result lads, now for a change of revenge against the league leaders Plymouth in what should hopefully be another bumper crowd

Great win, in this last 4 games that's 8 pts and conceded just 1 without the best defender since Bobby Moore as Evatt thinks.
4 unbeaten on the bounce. I'm thrilled Evatt does seem to learning actually. The 5 changes are gone, there is genuine reason if we do make a change. I thought Kachunga was a cert to start but we went with the fans choice or JDB and it paid off.
I hope we don't rush Santos back. Yes he maybe a cert starter soon but just let him know he starts on the bench and works his way back.
