Does the score matter? Seems XG is all important.
Fleetwood 0.45 vs bolton 0.6. Get in there. We can pass the stories down on how good a cross that was that was ever so slightly behind the striker.
(Think ive given up.)

(Think ive given up.) that story was another corker wasn't it. i think the modern phrase is "gaslighting" the fans. hate to break this one to Ian, but Cambridge won last week on XG. and were pretty much ahead all game. & of the 8 teams mentioned in the link below, our XG figure was the 2nd lowest. and fairly recently i put on another game with similar results. he's just hoping most don't look and they probably don't. and hope he can baffle them with science. he really is like the dodgiest of dodgy car salesmen isn't he. the season-long stats are all here. bottom half for goals, shots & shots on target. www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/8/Seasons/9142/Stages/21051/TeamStatistics/England-League-One-2022-2023skip to 6.44 in the vid Julien Laurens stating a shot by Partey of Arsenal ( in the north london derby a few weeks back ) which had XG of 0.04 ( very very low- long shot it was ) XGOT = expected goals on target. a slightly cleverer, more refined stat, which doesn't look at the spot on the pitch you hit it from, but where in the goals it hits, like one of those penalty charts they show where a pen taker normally takes his pens etc. Partey's shot suddenly had an XGOT of 0.34, as it was hit well and right in the corner. hadn't heard of this stat before i saw this vid, but it makes a lot of sense, proving in maths & stats and models, pretty much what we see out on the pitch.

What an incentive last night’s match between Portsmouth and Derby has given us.
0-0 so that means that a victory today will see us move up to 5th.
Portsmouth were so similar to us. Lots of possession, attacking play up to the penalty box but then:- 1 shot on target and that was a weak effort in the 94th minute. So similar to our last few matches.
On to today.
I presume it will be the same back 5 (and please put a sub keeper on the bench).
Williams will return to midfield but with Dempsey suspended and Lee ill, I can’t see any other changes.
I desperately want Afolayan and Bodvarsson to start with Charles. Bakayoko is on international duty so the subs bench may be a bit different (please have Kachunga sitting on it, please).
I am always Mr Optimistic . I cannot see our flaky central defenders keeping a clean sheet. They got praise last Saturday but, realistically, the clean sheet was because of Trafford not Santos/Johnston. So I expect us to concede. Is today the day that that the strikers strike?
Optimistic as always and a 2-1 win and up into the play-offs.

strange old side Fleetwood. they've only won 4 games, but only lost 4 games. drawn 10. and even the sides they've beat have been odd. beat 2 of the current top 4 sides. then only other 2 wins are against bottom 5 sides they are 16th in the home lge table. 2 wins and 2 losses, 5 draws. we're 16th in the away table. players to look out for. not seen any injury news, so don't know if they 'll play. Carlos Mendes Gomes topscorer with 4. remember him from Morecambe. useful. bit of skill and pace. Vela also plays for them. a couple of other ex-Wanderers might play in Nsiala and Josh Earl, both from Keith Hill days IIRC. Paddy Lane impressed in the past, but not sure what's going on with him. doesn't seem to be starting much. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/league-one/supercomputer has this down as us slight faves. 38% BWFC, 32% FTFC & 30% draw. probably fair. i'll probably stick to my win or draw bet.

Well, I’ve always tried to be positive but I’m afraid I’m really struggling to stay that way at the moment. It may of course be that the injuries, illnesses and absentees today may actually help us as there are less bingo number for Evatt to pull out of his hat. I’m not sure I’d agree with Davidm on Kachunga missing though because he is a grafter but I don’t want him up front in place of Dion and Bod, who for me should be the starting pair every week. However he does it, Evatt also needs to restore Dapo to his attacking role on the left. Personally I’d pair him with John but I suspect Evatt won’t do that and retain Iredale there. I think the back five pretty much picks itself but I agree that with 8 subs we must have a keeper on the bench, it seems crazy not to. I don’t know what eleven IE will start but I do hope the players have listened to his plea for them to shoot, even if that means seeming greedy because we have the players to do it but just don’t anywhere near often enough. Sadly I think the best we’ll do is a draw because Fleetwood don’t lose many but if we can pinch that early goal who knows? For me the best I can see is a point so I’ll go 1-1 today.

I really hope that Ian can turn it around as I don’t think no matter what happens he won’t get the sack unless we nose dive down the league. He seems to be pinning all his hopes on strikers that have not really been prolific goal scorers throughout there career as if he felt he could make them better 🤷♂️. We need a win today or it will be yet more excuses onwards and upwards COYWM 2-2 more dropped points at shitty little grounds

Think the more the Evatt system fails the more robust he tries it. Suspect he doubles down again with Kachunga. MJ and Thomason meaning we have a back 7.
Sometimes you watch a match as a neutral and you can sense afterwards that the manager is in big trouble thinking of the last Steven Gerrard Villa games. And more obviously the end days of Jose Mourinho at all his clubs. Seemed like the dressing room had gone and though we only really know Declan John I suspect more are disgruntled.
A 3-0 victory certainly changes everything but will go 1-1

A 3-0 victory certainly changes everything but will go 1-1 And 10 months ago, we thumped Sunderland 6-0 through sheer fantastic, energetic, forward attacking football, which not only surprised us fans, it consequently made the Black Cats sack Lee Johnson, only to see them turn it around with a change of manager and then see them take the Play Offs by storm. A most unlikely outcome given the disruption of swapping managers (albeit they swapped after 27 games) OoooM’s comments on Sharon Brittan’s 3 year tenure bothers me, especially the bit about keeping stability and the likelihood that Evatt will be in the chair whilst she’s in charge My above prediction was completely tongue in cheek I’m sure you know😂😂 Lose today and we might as well give up the season as a pointless experiment

A win today will take us to 5th place so let’s not be too down. Mind you, I said that last week and the previous week but surely I’ve got to be right some time? 🥴
Come on Wanderers, let’s make it this week and surprise everybody.

Totally agree. A totally unstructured team selection. Looks like he is giving up on MJ and a central defensive midfielder.....and why is John on the bench with that loanee from Liverpool appearing? Once again Kachunga starts and no Bodvarsson. I feel Evatt has really lost the plot, and also wonder why he doesn't revert to something like the team which beat Sunderland 6-0.Suppose the answer is he's lost it....

It seems to me that Evatt does read comments from the world famous Trotters Forever forum, alongside the Lion of Vienna Suite, Burnden Aces and the BN comments section!!! He must do Whe else would he even consider Declan John?? Even as a sub Hope he gets on and proves a point
