It’s always difficult to keep fringe players happy when the teams winning as there isn’t really a way into the side other than by injury, so I do feel for IE on that front. A manager can only start 11 players and almost all teams have a 23-26 man squad so even if they leave there’s no guarantee they’ll do better elsewhere. Having 5 subs helps but I’m sure all of the players want to be in the first eleven and are unhappy if they’re not so I would find it really unusual for the likes of Dapo and the other players mentioned earlier not to be dissatisfied at not being in the team. It depends how deeply that dissatisfaction is displayed and clearly with Sarce and Doyle it reached a high pitch. I think if I were Dapo, John, Sadlier or Bod at least, I’d be pretty cheesed off currently, especially with the team not just losing but also performing so poorly. I think there may be several question marks on what’s going on at the moment and it wouldn’t surprise me if it erupted at some points, or players broke into factions. Ian strikes me as a particularly stubborn type and not easy to talk to as a player. I may be completely wrong as I don’t know him personally but from what evidence I have so far, that’s how I see him. A win against Barnsley on Saturday would of course change feelings but I do think there could be doubt and resentment building up in the camp anyway and several, players looking to exit in January, which could be a good or bad thing depending on who they are?

There is little doubt that Ian has got it wrong at the moment. If he feels Dapo's form is not good enough to start with him at present he should say so, but he isn't saying that. He expects him to arrive at the 60th minute and perform a miracle. Is that really in the team's interest to start with a lop-sided attack. Or is he preparing us for the young man's departure in January and is he sure he has his replacement lined up? The same could be said of the way John is being treated. Iredale showed on Saturday that he is more than a reserve to Johnston, yet without John our left attack, also lacking Dapo, has been really substandard. I thought in the close season Ian would have looked to sign another defensive midfielder, as Williams is being expected to carry that load on his own and his legs are starting to go quite early in games, thus weakening defensive links. Many of also looked for another striker with holding skills, but that did not materialise. I think with such additions last season we could have gone up, and unless changes are quickly made it looks as things could be worse this time. Saturday is a six-pointer, and well-won as they were, I don't fancy another edge of the seat performance like the last two home wins.
