I would have preferred the away version of this game to have been selected for SKYSPORTS
Our supporters have really come back in numbers and can see the project FV and IE are managing.
Mondays a bit of an awkward one for me and probably a few others but then we’ll be glad it’s on telly as we’d have struggled to make it on time, but that said, it could potentially have been another 15000 crowd, which, as we know, can act like the 12th man (not always😬) but being on screen could very well take 3-4000 off that number and we could be looking at an 11000 crowd (can’t see Burton bringing that many) 11000 for a telly game in an half empty stadium can be a real ‘put off’ for many neutrals to watch. That all said, I don’t care too much so long as we win the game
On the game, another tough fixture, Burton had a decent start beating Ipswich and Sunderland but have since fizzled on with a draw and a couple of defeats with MK Dons and Cambridge putting 5 past them, we have to go for the throat from the first whistle
JFH is no mug and he’ll know what buttons to press with our defence which, I have to say, has been a real let down so far. Too many goals shipped in. Had we been tighter in our opening fixtures, we would be seen as the team to beat and probably where Sunderland are at this moment as we seem to be finding the net

I think it’s a double edged sword rft, we score more and concede more or tighten up and concede less. As I’ve said before, dropping Lee to accommodate Sheehan has weakened our midfield defensively whilst improving it in attack. I think we need to consider this when we come up against the better, faster teams and in some cases I might even try Tuttey in midfield to partner MJ to stiffen us up. Rico has looked very shaky so far and I’m still not sure about Johnston but I wonder if this is because MJ isn’t able on his own to protect them from attackers running at them? As for Burton, I agree that they’ve tailed off after a promising start but with some tricky games coming up in September, it’s definitely one we need to win. Like you I won’t be able to make the game on Monday so it will probably be a Now TV pass seeing as it’s not on iFollow. At least on Now we shouldn’t have any transmission problems. Hopefully Lee will come in again with MJ so with a stable midfield I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t win comfortably so I’ll go for 2-0 to the Whites.

A great opportunity to register our position in this league.
Victory tonight and we go 3rd in the league.
I expect Gordon instead of John and Lee instead of Sheehan – otherwise the normal side.
We have a rotten record against Burton – they have come to our ground 3 times and won 3 times – a ridiculous statistic saying as we were expected to win all 3 times.
So tonight, we must get the first victory over them.
The defence is a bit of a worry as we seem determined to give the other side a 1 goal start (4 out of our 5 league games!) so I will go for a 2-1 win.

Think the team picks itself injury dependent. John(injury) Sheehan (Itl) not involved so.
Dixon Jones Santos Johnson Gordon MJ & Lee (if fit, these were our foundation last season and i cant believe any calls for Lee to play further up. Hes useless in front of goal) Sarcevic Isgrove Dapo Doyle.
Gilks Brockbank Baptiste Thomason Delf.
Guess if Lee isnt fully fit then maybe Tutte comes into contention but apart from that can see no real arguments. Would be nice if you could have 5 subs plus an academy player on the bench. If youre ever cruising then young lad can get some game time. Or if Doyle gets a knock we may be need to roll the dice. Remember Rashford got his start through desperation. Is there anyone at all we can call on?

I think Lee alongside MJ will make us much more solid in midfield but is he fit enough? If not then I suppose it’s down to Tutte or Thomason to start, or would IE chance Comley there? We certainly need to win this to maintain our pressure at the top and I’m not really a big believer in historic results having much bearing on things, so with Burton also suffering injury problems ,now should be a good time to play them.
I was trying to get the match on Now TV but I couldn’t find it available and I don’t have Sky Sports so unless I’m mistaken, I won’t be able see the game as I can’t get over to the ground tonight. Anybody know of any other streams I could try?

So
BOLTON Played 5 Won 2 Drew 2 Lost 1 For 9 Against 8
BURTON Played 5 Won 3 Drew 1 Lost 1 For 5 Against 5
Only the Wimbledon teams have scored more goals than Bolton (11 each and strangely enough have both shipped 9) but the shipping of 8 goals in 5 games for us is a real worry. Someone has to get a grip at the back as I’ve got more confidence that Joel Dixon will do his bit as well as he can, but the 3 or 5 in front of him must get their act together, cut out the mistakes (Baps slip - Johnston losing possession v MKD) and stop the issues that are killing our goal difference and reducing our points on the board. Ian Evatt needs to address the defence, he was a defender, he should be confident enough to know he has a team capable of scoring goals, albeit from non striker positions, but it’s down to him and the experienced defenders we have to iron out these mistakes on the training ground and transferring this to the games.
We can do this Let’s do it COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Great goal and should have stood under the rules but you can understand the officials denying it and to be fair to the linesman he couldn’t be sure from his angle that the keeper wasn’t obstructed but once again Doyle in an offside position which he does a lot I’m afraid. Still, superb performance by the Whites, different class to Burton but still no goals and you just hope we don’t end up regretting it like we did last week at Cambridge. You get nothing for pretty football, it’s goals that count.

Great effort Wanderers but throwaway points like this are not useful

We’ll I’m sorry but if Evatt still doesn’t think we need a striker after that then he’s not watching the same game as me. How many chances did we miss again there? I don’t think the team can play any better than they did tonight but if you can’t take your chances then you can’t win games. Yes the goal should have stood and yes we should have had a penalty but those aside we should have won this comfortably. Where’s Daniel Sturridge?
