After a hard fought battle against the other ‘Boat Race’ team Oxford, we now turn our attention to their repeat boat race finalists Cambridge after we were interrupted by the Wigan shoot out
Judging by IEvatts backing that Delf rediscover his form, it sounds like he’s giving him every opportunity to do that and I wouldn’t back against him getting a starting spot against Cambridge
Gonna be another tough away day but at least we should know more about these than any of the other side we faced so far
I don’t like predicting and I won’t as I’m always wrong
Let’s just do this COYWM ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

I think it’s highly unlikely Delf will start and I personally would be surprised if he even makes the bench. When you look at it, who would you leave out to fit him in? Sarce, Sheehan, Doyler, Dapo, MJ, Lee? For me none of them and then you have the next batch, when fit of course, like Isgrove, Kachunga, Baka, Ameche, let alone Crawford and Tutte waiting in the wings. Right now I’d put every one of those in front of Delf and if IE does bring in another couple in the window it’s going to leave him even further down the pecking order. I really just fail to see the logic in keeping him here I’m afraid, other than sentiment by IE because he must be on a decent wage by our standards, yet isn’t justifying it. I’m not trying to be mean to Delf but I honestly can’t remember the last positive thing he did, not a goal, a shot, or even a telling run. He’s just anonymous on the pitch and I seriously forget sometimes he’s actually out there he’s so uninvolved. He’s 30 years old and should be at his peak but I’m afraid he’s just way short of justifying a place in the squad for me. Maybe he’ll be brilliant and make me eat my words, I genuinely hope so but sadly really doubt it.
As for tomorrow, it’s a must win after saving all the players and thus effectively throwing the game last Tuesday. A draw wouldn’t be a disaster but if we realistically want to be challenging for promotion the these are the games we need to win. I personally think we will and will go for a 1-2 victory for Wanderers.

Still in unknown territory this season but we took 4 points off them last season. Should have been 6 had it not been for Billy The Kid. And the game at the UniBol was one of the best/easiest win with only another goalkeeping howler giving them a respectable looking loss.
Have they improved? Well theyve had a decent start bust lost Mullin. We've improved but XI wont look too dissimilar to our L2 team.
Just hope we can remain unbeaten for as long as possible, if that means drawing a few away games then so be it. 1-1.

I'm really looking forward to this game as it's my first away game in what feel's like year's will be leaving Nottingham on the 10.35am train with my phone with plenty of data so I can comment as the game goes on fingers crossed we win but no mater what happens win, lose, or draw I'm going to enjoy it unless Nathan Delfouneso start's then I'll be pissed off. I'm not going to make a prediction as it's not an easy one just enjoy. Stay safe one and all onwards and upwards COYWM

For some reason, I am a bit uncomfortable about today’s match. Maybe it’s was the lacklustre display against Wigan. Yes, we passed the ball about reasonably well but rarely threatened and this was with Sheehan, Afolayan, Lee, Thomasson (all very good players) starting.
I think we missed MJ Williams more than we could have imagined.
Anyway, on to today. I expect us revert back to what is our first eleven.
Dixon, Jones, John, Santos, Johnston, Williams, Sheehan, Sarcevic, Isgrove, Afolayan and Doyle.
When you list them like that, that’s a good team.
We should have won at Cambridge last year so, yet again, I’ll go for the regulation 1-0 win.

What a shame that Delf just can’t do that more often and win back his place in the squad.

Not like me to focus on the negative but thought Delfs cross at FGR was behind Doyle and only a sublime volley could make it look good.
When we started the season proper(against FGR) I thought Doyle and Delf link up would be constant. Never did click and Delfs purple patch came when we were Doyle through injury. After that we tried him here, there and everywhere and nothing came off.
Probably the reason we didnt put a sub keeper on the bench was becsuse we could try Delf there to see if that would pay off.

I’m not trying to be negative either OM but I must have missed Delf’s purple patch. I honestly can’t remember any period where he was particularly influential just occasional moments like his cross for Doyler. We need 90 minute players and whatever you say about Delf, he certainly isn’t that. Even Crawford who didn’t shine, at least tried and was visible in games even if it was visibly poor. With Delf he’s largely just anonymous and contributes little or nothing for me. It’s so sad really because we all know he has the ability but he just doesn’t deploy it enough. I suppose frustrating is the best way to describe him. Even if he came on for ten or fifteen minutes and put himself about a bit you’d be happy but he doesn’t even do that.

I certainly remember one game towards the end of last season where he came on late and did a good defensive job in preserving our lead - sorry, but I can’t remember which game it was now. Definitely his best period for us was the first half of last season when we were losing most of our games. As we became better, he seemed to become worse. Strange! Personally I don’t see him making a comeback and without injuries I wouldn’t even see him making the bench. However with Amaechi and Bakayoko both out there aren’t many other options up front, although surely Kachunga will always come on before he does.

That’s very true I thought towards the start of last season he looked quite good and I’m right in thinking he scored his goals early season but as the season wore on and we got better players in he just hasn’t done anything that would allow him to hold down a regular place. 🤞if he plays today he is a world beater and not a flop stay safe one and all COYWM

Maybe he felt superior in a team full of lower calibre players but less comfortable when surrounded by better quality? Sometimes being a big fish in a small pool gives you confidence whereas when others around are better than you it affects you negatively and you hide a bit, or a lot in Delfs case. It’s a strange one but sadly I just can’t see it changing and if Delf does stay here I don’t think he’ll see much of the first team.
