Well Evatt needs to do something up front because what he is doing isn’t working. I don’t think Doyle is good enough and I can see why Swindon let him go after promotion, despite his goals. He’s a 4th division player for me, works hard but seems to lack initiative. There were several times today when he should have been in the 6 yard box anticipating the cross but he’s just static too far back. As Andy says, Isgrove never looks up when crossing and rarely finds a man, that’s assuming he beats the first defender. I’d be inclined to leave Doyle out and give Miller a chance who seems a bit more mobile and intelligent but it might also be worth trying Dapo or King Arthur up top, who both have pace and strength and will run at players, whochbDoyle doesn’t. We certainly need to do something because we’re giving the initiative to the opposition all the time by not scoring. The football is brilliant now and I give Evatt all the credit for that but maybe he needs to bring in an attacking coach because he obviously has no idea on that front?

Think thats a bit harsh. You said Evatt needs to change it but he will say thats 20 points taken from 24 and very nearly 2 of those points were when we were wrongfully penalised and playing with 10 and the other two were seconds away from maximum points. So whatever system he is playing is working and Doyle is pivitol to that.
Also it wasnt the case that Swindon didnt want him. They did and there were sour grapes when he left them but he wanted to move to the north west. Had Wigan not been in so much turmoil he maybe in L1 still. 12 for us on top of his unbeaten return last season shows he is more than capable at L2. Is he good enough at L1? Guess its all down to the service.

Guess its all down to the service. We’ll have to agree to differ on this OM. I don’t think it’s harsh at all to say that Evatt needs to change things up top, it’s just not working and hasn’t for months. Several of the results we’ve got have been fortunate to say the least and whilst the wins may have been deserved, it was too much hard work to get them. Yesterday we looked brilliant until the final quarter and if Gilks hadn’t made that save I think we could well have lost. We have to find a way to turn our good play into goals because at the moment it’s just being wasted. I don’t see Doyle as a lone front man, he’s isn’t strong enough or sharp enough. If he had a Madine or such at the side of him I’m sure he’d be more prolific but on his own it just isn’t working. Obviously we can’t bring anyone better in because even if they were available, they wouldn’t be fit, so we have to stick with what we’ve got. The defence and midfield are excellent now but it’s being wasted by our ineptitude up front. Evatt needs to try something different for me, even if that means leaving Doyle out and I don’t just mean by replacing him with Miller. We need to completely rethink our attack because if we continue as we are I fear we won’t succeed in getting promoted this year and we do deserve to.

I, like someone else, was loathe to criticise after our wonderful run and fantastic stats but I do agree with all the points made above. I happened to see the last ten minutes of MOTD before Marr this morning. Wouldn't you know it, can't remember the team but they kept on missing chances and the pundits afterwards could have been talking about Bolton! Three leagues above us and just as useless and on Film Star wages. As I have always said and believe it more and more. They miss that massive target so often, (or shoot straight at the keeper), a goal surely has to be a fluke?
