Sat'day 5/12. k.o 3pm Into December now. we had 5 Lge games in November. Unbeaten. 4 wins 1 draw. we'll be doing pretty well to go unbeaten all December. Port Vale are in 13th place. last season , they finished in 8th place, just outside the play-offs. out of 15 games this season, they've won 6, drawn 1, and lost 8. Lost their last 5 lge games. only lost by the odd goal each time. & had a sending off in 2 of those 5, & 3 defeats to sides currently in the top 10 ( newport & orient & tranmere ) Port vale are managed by John Askey. although he's much older than Evatt, their manager has a few things in common with him. He got Macclesfield promoted as Champions from the National lge in 17/18 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_National_League they averaged 2 pt's per game. Better than Evatt's 1.89 pg with Barrow This is what wikipedia says about his managerial style : Askey has a reputation for playing attractive football and for managing teams on a budget by spotting ability in young players and helping revive the careers of players whose careers had stalled. His favoured formation is a 4–3–3 and he prefers to play with a high-tempo, pressing style Macclesfield endured a difficult season off the pitch during the 2017–18 campaign, as financial problems meant that players went unpaid in January despite the wage bill being one of the lowest in the division. Despite these restrictions, Askey managed to guide Macclesfield to promotion back to the Football League as champions of the National League on a budget of £350,000. Port Vales' topscorer only has 3, Devante Rodney, but they do share the goals around. 5 players scored 2. & 11 players in total scoring a lge goal. their b est assister David Worrall has 6 & that's the best total of anyone in this Div. WE HAVE SCORED IN 9 OF OUR LAST 10 LGE GAMES..just blanking in the Orient game. we've scored 17 lge goals now. : Doyle 6. Delf 4 Sarce 3. Kioso 2 Crawford 1 o.g 1 ( vs salford) 12 assists : Crawford 4 Baptiste 2. all these 6 have 1 each. Sarce, Delf, Kioso. Doyle, Jones, Gnahoua. prediction : tough one, Vale's losing run has got to stop sometime. but we are in decent nick & i'll tip us to shade it 2-1.

Dont read too much into that 'With and Without Tutte'stat(bad cover of a U2 song) as it ties in with the ridding of Crellin and the start of better times.
But he has been very good. Perhaps his fitness is the reason why he seems better than L2 but hasnt grasped that yet.
Like Miller. Excess of football cant be blamed for his injury set back, nor can rushing him back.
I dont trust Comley i dont think hes earned a place on the bench. Think White will get the nod and I'm not totally against but we really need to start seeing what Evatt sees.
A few weeks ago I was saying with a few others to push Santos up as DM. He clearly can win a battle and then find a pass but you'd be crazy to take him out the defence at the moment.

Dont read too much into that 'With and Without Tutte'stat(bad cover of a U2 song) as it ties in with the ridding of Crellin and the start of better times. . yes, that is true to some extent. however when you look at the detail. via soccerbase player filter. we've won 6 lge games. Tutte has started every single one of those. we've not won a single lge game that Comley has started in. we've not won a single lge game that White has started in. we've only lost 1 that Tutte has started in. 2 other draws ..including the creditable away draw at Cambridge. & a home clean sheet vs Grimsby. lost 4 when Comley has started. & 1 draw. ( lge games only ) lost 3 when White has started & 1 draw (lge games only )

Let’s just hope we win to continue the climb
Not wishing to predict the result of the Port Vale game but instead looking into a crystal ball at the possibility of a renewed rivalry with an old arch enemy!
Could this be a throw back season to equal out a 30 year painful memory of the 1990/91 season where we get into a battle with Trashmere Rovers yet again and perhaps meet them in the Play-Off finals?
Added spice with Keith Hill in charge as well🤔

We must be odds on for this one and we can’t allow the absence of one player to disrupt our fortunes. Tutte isn’t exactly indispensable so we should surely have someone to step in. Personally I’d give Thomason a run but I suspect it will be white but I still think we’ll win so 2-1 to the Whites in another nail biter.

We should be getting three points today with us being on a roll and all that but I’m still waiting for this all out attacking football. We still seem to be allowing teams back into games the better teams will take advantage of that and it worries me I’ll stick my neck out and go for a 2-1 win. I’m still not convinced about Ian for the long term as we have just played some weak teams but I believe we should stick with him until the end of the season and see what happens. Stay safe one and all COYWM

I can understand that chip, we still aren’t winning convincingly and that worries me because you always feel the other team can quickly get back on top of us, as many have done. Even though we beat Southend 3-0, it wasn’t what you’d call convincing and we could easily have conceded several times. I think IE is aware of that and knows we aren’t the finished article. We have periods in every game where we’re well on top but we aren’t clinical enough to take the chances we have, either a poor final ball, or lack of composure. Other than Doyle, we don’t really have a genuine finisher. Fonz can be good in parts but he’s not prolific and never has been. I think in the window, a goalkeeper is essential but so for me is one, or preferably two, real goalscorers. It’s difficult with the budget we have but others seem to have managed it and I still feel we should have given Connor Hall a chance, if nothing else, he is a goalscorer and I think would have linked up well with Doyle. No question we’ve missed Politic but I think when everybody’s fit we’ve plenty in midfield and at the back, so would go for strikers. As for today, we’ll probably struggle again but like you I’ll go for a 2-1 win, though I’m not overly confident.

We have every reason to be optimistic today.
4 successive wins and 5 successive losses for Port Vale (a bit scary that as runs have to end sometime but not today).
I agree again with Whites63 about the goalscoring. We have spells when we are well on top but do not score. A lot of the time we get to 20-30 yards out from goal and come to a grinding halt.
We also need to be scoring more from free kicks/corners. I can only think of 2 occasions (Harrogate and Barrow) when we have scored from a dead ball and the Harrogate one was not a header - just good movement from Doyle. When you look at the size of our defenders, it is hard to understand why they haven’t scored. Maybe someone other than Crawford should take a few corners.
Defensively, we look OK. Gilks has changed the belief in our defence.
Midfield, I assume that White will replace Tutte today. I hope he has been told to look forwards when he has the ball. Crawford still needs to improve his passing and not be knocked off the ball so easily. Sarcevic is good and will run the midfield for us. I have yet to see enough of Isgrove but, hopefully, he will create chances.
Upfront, Doyle is a goalscorer and will get 20+ goals for us this year. Delfouneso looks totally out of the game most of the time but then will grab a goal – like Southend. Miller is now injured but I am not sure about him being the standard we need and Gnahoua has just disappeared.
Looking forward, I agree with the need for new goalkeeper and the addition of another quality goalscorer.
Back to today, I have to be positive – a 2-0 win.

The son of a good friend of mine works as Port Vale's Head Analyst, so I hope he's had a dodgy week! Re the January window, I think the squad needs a good overhaul. Replace some of those who don't seem up to it. TaftGreenidge, Mascoll, White, Comley,Hickman, Crellin spring to mind. None would be a great loss. For me, Crawford is a huge disappointment. I think we need a good goalie, a centre mid better than Tutte, a proper left wingback and a striker. Not much, huh?

Just 1 change - Thomason in instead of Tutte
Never seen Thomason play so hope is a positive player

really surprised with Thomason playing. pleasant surprise. Evatt seemed to be severely hinting towards White saying how he'd worked with him at Barrow, and with him getting the nod last week playing the majority of the game as sub. Thomason wasn't even on the bench. did well constructing things last time. be interesting to see the defensive side of his game.

Brilliant decision by IE. We know that neither White nor Comley are up to it but he wouldn’t have brought Thomason back if he didn’t think he could do it for him. For me in the little I’ve seen of him and the praise from elsewhere, he seems the most suitable fit to replace Tutte, forward looking, aggressive in the tackle and agile. If he succeeds then it means we can send White back to Rovers and Comley anywhere they’ll have him, even on loan, to open up places for others to come in. A keeper, two strikers and a wide left player for me. We should have more than enough in midfield until the next window when hopefully we’re strengthening for L1 next season. Now Thomason in I’m going for 2-0 to the Whites.

Well, it's 2-0 to them. I was typing 1-0 when they scored another.
Is it written into the DNA of BWFC that if someone has a bad run, or is looking to set a record, then we just help them along?
At least we scored when I was typing this... Get in... Jones (pun intended)

What is Crawford doing today? I’ve defended him up to now but today he’s been just awful so far. Wake up lad.
