Slightly off topic, but well into the headline of can good come from this outbreak? I was watching the replay of Paul Gascoignes 1996 Euro goal. Yes, an excellent goal by any standards, but it had all the trademarks of a Sam Allardyce buildup. If BWFC had scored a goal like that, they'd have described it as typical long ball for sure.
Any thoughts?

Back to original question of can any good come? Yes, having the european competitions conclude with a fast one legged tournament stage is far better.
Problem is they could never have two nations host 8 clubs and the 40k they may bring. Perhaps we may see this format in Dubai, UAE, etc in future but it works
Two leg ties are tedious and usually favour, or encourage ultra negative tactics. Most would be happy seeing a 0-0 at home.
If nothing else lose the away goal. I dont understand it. Never had. Two games of 90 then pens if needed.

From a purely football perspective OM, the eventual realisation that the current way football is financed is broken and for the good of the game must change. I don’t imagine for one minute that the greedy and self interested PL clubs will assist so it’s up to the EFL and though I’m not 100% behind a salary cap based purely on league status, at least it’s a start. I can see the Championship becoming PL2 in the next year or two but I don’t think they’ll ever cut themselves off completely from L1 and 2. Regarding European competition, I have little or no interest as it seriously only really involves a handful of the top clubs. I’d rather concentrate on the league structure and whilst I think with CV it’s inevitable that one or two will fall by the wayside, there are a number of well run National League teams who could take their place. Hopefully we are through our tribulations and can concentrate on getting back to the Championship ASAP.
