Deja Vu. So similar to many poor performances last season when the opposition passed beautifully and easily and shamed us. 10-15 minutes of football and we scored two goals totally against the run of play then that was it and back to panic mode and keystone cops defending. 2-0 and you f****d it up chanted the Bristolians - spot on! Parky, you are still clueless.

The first half yesterday was, from a wanderers supporter pointof view, dire. Sat back to avoid giving a goal away, did not press the ball, let BC play, and gain confidence. We were lucky not to concede, it was poor football and poor entertainment. Second half a little better, pressed the ball more, but both of their goals came from an individual running frm deep unchallenged. Some signs of change from last season, which I hope will continue as the new players come together and work out how to play together. Firstly, four at the back,we do not have the quality to play a back three, secondly used all the subs, todays game is 14 man. Ok it did not work out, down to the players, introduction of Alf showed the weaknesses in defence, but it was a positive move, an attempt, after "shoring" up the defence,to score. Still having said that, there are still 44 games to go,and some good teams to face, survival is the name of the game, and we have 4 precious points gained from 2 rated sides.

I completely agree re the 14 man game, Bonaparte but it's 14 from 21 not 14 of 14 to a preset programme.
I also agree re to there being some signs of improvement. The team is fitter, more aggressive defensively and although I'd prefer more possession and dominance Ithink we must recognise that we remain of limited resource and unequal to over half the divisional teams.
Also Ameobi last week and Noone and Buckley this did strike a good balance of defence and forward play. Olkowski got forward occasionally and created a goal. If Taylor were a better player we'd have had crosses from him too.
It was when the flank cover was substituted that we fell apart
There was though one brief glimpse of how Magennis and Le Fondre could link up. The challenge is how to achieve this without having to resort to three at the back..unless that is Hobbs emerges or we find centre backs or capable of playingin or flankers of supporting a back three at this level. Again Taylor is a problem. Olkowski can probably do full back or wing back

As I felt for much of last season, man for man I’m not convinced that we are way below an average team for this league. For me a big problem is that it is much more physically draining to play without the ball. In the first half Parky’s tactics, while not making for much entertainment, did keep us in the game. They had a lot of possession, true, but did absolutely nothing with it.Early second half we came out with more intent and exposed a pretty poor defence... 2-0 up without even trying that hard. All we needed then was a solid defence and job done. The problem was that we were tiring and eventually gave away two soft goals ( was the first offside? not seen any replays, but it looked close) . To play as Parky seems to want ie minimum possession, we need a team full of Robinsons, which we haven’t got ( haven’t got even one any more!) And I doubt that it’s a style that will go down well at home, whereas the first 15 mins of the 2nd half showed how a so called better passing team had a very poor defence. I suspect this is true of many others in this division.
All in all, I think the tactics seen so far may work for away games against table leaders, but, for home games, and those against equivalent opposition, he must find a way to get the team to impose itself much more on the game.

Just seen the extended highlights and read that their first goal was definitely offside. But still very impressed with City's passing - will we ever be able to pass accurately and quickly?

I think the stats yet again say everything. Bristol are a decent side but come on, no more than that and making them out to be is just another cover up for Parkinson's failings to put out a competitive side. There will probably be at most half a dozen "outstanding" teams in the Championship and I can of course accept a defensive set up against them but that is all Parky knows, irrespective of the quality, home or away, whoever we play. He even plays that way in the cups against lower league opponents!! What's that all about? We have a squad no worse than half the division and it's ridiculous to say we haven't. Set up properly we would be a match for most but we'll never see that under this fella. Sorry yet again to appear negative but the 4 points we have we were lucky to get. Nothing has changed from last year and won't until this manager goes. We know that won't happen, even under dire circumstances because Anderson knows he won't find another patsy like Parkinson. Sad it is because I yearn to be there shouting my team on but I'm not going back while Parky's gut wrenchingly negative and boring tripe is all I'll see. By the way, if as KA says, we are almost profitable and in a better position than almost any other Championship side, then why aren't there a queue of buyers yet?

It was a bit puzzling to hear Ian Dowie on SKY last week waxing lyrical about our defensive display v WBA and how tough we have made it for the opposition, but then we go and throw it away v BC after we had gone 2-0 up🙄🤔🙄🤔 I’m still happy with the 4 points but performances need to improve and I agree with all that say our possession needs to be far greater than 30% especially at home COYWM
