A massive confidence boost beating WBA followed by a disappointing transfer deadline day but let’s hope that hasn’t filtered through and that we crack on and do the business at HOME v The Robins. They lost Bobby Reid to Cardiff but they’re still a threat although we shouldn’t fear them. I think we could sneak this one 1-0 COYWM

If you've seen the other sections on here you'll know morale for me is very low.
I'll get the negatives out of the way. I just don't see the fire power with this team. Goals will be very hard to find and like the same fixture last season, we might require a wonder goal or set piece to get one chalked on. Means defence will have to be pretty near perfect every game.
Reasons to be optimistic. The first eleven is better than last season. Whilst I worry when we get to injuries, suspensions and congestion, at the moment we should be able to pick our best eleven and that, generally is capable of beating a Bristol City team, who could end up anywhere at the end of the season. Top 3, bottom 3 nothing would shock me.

Any person that serves my country for the right reasons gets a massive thumbs up from me Chip👍🏻 PS: at £8 a drink, stay away from that Beetham Tower pal🍺🍺🍺and being a drunken vocal Wanderer in the middle of Manchester is a doddle as most of their fans come from Ireland Or North London😂😂

I’ll have the point rather than a defeat because that’s what it feels like to throw a 2-0 victory away!!!
Can’t keep relying on less than 30% possession to take all 3 points, something’s got to give, as proven by Paterson’s walk through goal
Big shame

It’s always infuriating to lose a two goal lead in the last half hour. But, putting those feelings to one side, a draw was probably a fair result. For me, apart from a 10-15 minute period during which we scored twice, most of pur best play was without the ball. And that does worry me. Bristol dominated the first half, without really threatening and we just kept giving the ball away. Defensively we were solid, the defence all playing well, especially Alnwick and the much maligned Taylor. Noone was tireless and did great work, but I’m afraid, goal notwithstanding, I’d be wanting far more from Buckley. Super Josh was again excellent and Vela and the other central midfield were good.
Some strange refereeing, including booking one of their players for diving when it looked a stone wall penalty.
I’d like to see us with a midfield that enjoyed possession, rather than one which sees its main function as being defensively organised. I can see us having a lot of draws this season. Draws when we could easily win, if Bristol’s wobbling when under pressure was anything to go by. Still 4 points from 2 games is fine by me!

They were many times better than us and outplayed us in every department but for about 15 minutes when they lost the plot amidst some tenacious tackling.
In the first half we conceded possession but in general marked space well and although overrun were only vulnerable once albeit at times flirting with danger.
I didn't know we had goal line technology this year but only that can have allowed Buckley's flick on of a set piece harder. Magennis though featured twice in the excellent attacking initiative which brought his delightful goal
From that point on everything went wrong. PP alas was working to pre planned subs. O'Neil for Murphy on 60 + a bit of Wildschutt and under sufferance a dash of Le Fondre. The game itself offered no shortage of candidates but the plan said Buckley and Noone Le Fondre for No one led directly to a goal because nobody tracked a left sided breakaway and O'Neill had a stinker summed up by a stupid extra time foul. We were 2-0 up against the run of play and conceded to two breakaways when attackers outnumbered defenders. Bonkers! If we set out to defend the first half why on earth not a 2-0 lead? The proper call was surely to strengthen the midfield and defence and see the game out. Instead we seemed to be playing for 5-4 .
We did really well to rise above the first half start winning 50 50s and go two up. Bristol were really rocky. But to let them back with a straight pass to an unmarked man on the penalty spot- the lead just went to our heads and the manager let it in my opinion.
Also why buy Otzumer a midfield maestro with skill not to trust him?
Alnwick 7 Olkowski 7 Wheater 7 Beevers 7 Taylor 6 Lowe 6 Murphy 6 Vela 4 Noone 7 Buckley 6 Magennis 8. O'Neil 0 Wildschut 2 Le Fondre 4
I thought Magennis ploughed a solitary furrow well. We had a glimpse of how Le Fondre might play off him. The 4. -3-3 to 4-5-1 really backfired today because the subs couldn't do the 4-5-1. Bit. Bristol were excellent and the second half exciting. We weren't good enough to win nor even to draw yet draw we did and with more control and managerial adjustment we should have held our lead. In the end we barely hung on

Well I know that points are what matter and I know I am a grumpy old man but that was a terrible performance.
Yes, we got a point. Yes we could easily have had three. Yes we have 4 points already but after last week’s euphoria, the quality in our play and our tactics were horrible.
That style and quality of play is bottom of the table stuff.
The first half we hardly got a touch. Bristol just passed the ball around us and we dug in and hung on for dear life and somehow got to the break with a clean sheet.
Our manager has us set up not to concede. He leaves McGennis up front – 20 yards on his own. His 2 wingers play as additional full backs. We played 6-3-1 for most of the game.
Yes we got a point against a decent side but where is the entertainment?
Second half followed the same pattern but we got a rare attack. Noone swung in a centre which evaded everyone and their goalie had to push it around the post. From Vela’s corner, Wheater got in a fine header which Buckley diverted goalwards and Goal Line Technology gave us a goal
Not really deserved but we’ll take it.
Within a few minutes, we took a very quick free kick, Olkowski got down the right and pulled the ball back to McGennis – who had evaded their defence with some surreptitious shirt pulling – for him to turn and score well.
By this time, Mr Parkinson had brought O’Neill on presumably to kill the game but he didn’t and Bristol totally dominated the next 30 minutes.
Weimann somehow broke through the centre – was he not offside? – and scored within 5 minutes of our goal. If it wasn’t offside the central defenders made a huge mistake. Then it became mass panic. As usual, mass panic doesn’t do us any good and Bristol broke, O’Neill fail to clear when a big hoof this time would have been appropriate and they scored from the edge of the box.
You had to be happy with a point at the end as Bristol had totally dominated us and but for their airy-fairy finishing would have won.
Our negative attitude to matches will kill us again this season but we have 4 points so I’ll take that.
One final moan – the referee was awful. How could he book Vela for that challenge? How was Beevers’ challenge late on even a foul? AndyL – you are the referee’s champion on here. What did you think of him?
Alnwick - 6 Did OK. Don’t think he had a chance with either goal.
Olkowski - 6 Very promising. Got caught defensively a bit in the second when we were wide open.
Wheater - 6 Allright but if Bristol’s first goal wasn’t offside, he and Beevers were flat-footed.
Beevers - 6 Same comment re first goal and too many hoofs into open space
Taylor - 6 Some good stuff but again there were times when we were wide open down the flanks.
Lowe - 6 Steady but some desperate passing.
Murphy - 5 Couldn’t get in the game.
Vela - 5 Midfield was totally overrun by Bristol.
Noone - 5 He played much too deep but I assume this was following instructions.
Buckley - 4 Same as Noone – too deep. Despite his goal, he is not worth a first team place.
McGennis - 7 Worked hard but had no support. Took his goal well.
O’Neill - 4 Brought on to steady things but badly caught for the equaliser.
Wildshut - 5 Brought on to play on left wing but almost immediately pushed back deep when Le Fondre came on. No impact at all.
Le Fondre - 5 No service to him or McGennis.

You ask David about the referee. I thought he didn't quite keep up with play at times and there were a couple of decisions that need not have been made. But the fact that he was giving many more free kicks against us than for stemmed from our lack of possession and negatiivev tactics. He allowed an excellent quick free kick for our 2nd and played advantage where he could except once he pulled play back in the first half for a free kick to them. I think the yellow cards were mainly correct. His communication with linesmen was excellent- one overruled throw in direction was seamless.
I thought he handled dissent well and managed Magennis' persistent early fouls well.
The big decision was the non penalty for them and the yellow for diving. I would not be amazed if replays challenge his judgment on that one
So, overall he had a pretty accurate game with some definite strengths most fans would not notice. If he got the penalty right about 7/10. If not 6/10 his main failing was remoteness from action . A better referee might have penalised fewer fouls because some were a bit trivial. That did not apply to Buckley'svtwobhanded push in the back when he and No one (Vela? ) contrived to lose attacking possession in the corner at the North End

Didn't go to the game today, still adhering to my absence until Parky goes. I think people might have been slightly brainwashed with the result last week. Luckily West Brom had an off day yet could still easily have got something. Today sounds just like last year and the year before. Total negativity from the off, no intention to retain possession and positive players not in the side. You can say I shouldn't criticise if I didn't go but I don't think I need to in order to imagine how things went. I reiterate my belief that you could give Parkinson the finest squad in the Championship and he'd still fail to deliver. Constantly giving the ball to the opposition is just ridiculous and fielding the same negative set up and system every week, home or away not just annoying but stupid. Finally Andy, your point about Oztumer is a pertinent one, which I must admit I found strange for Parky at the time. I believe he's another of Anderson Jrs signings and I doubt we'll see much, if anything at all of him if it's left to Parky. Sorry to appear so negative with only two games in but genuinely I just don't see any change this year, or ever, under Parkinson a division one manager at best.

Glad I don't go anymore, I couldn't put up with this manager. Two games into the season and anyone with half a brain can see things havnt changed. 30% possession is a joke and is solely down to the idiot in charge. Better players either sat on the bench or nowhere to be seen is not the way to manage a struggling football club. I hated Megson but Id swop him any day for this clown. I feel sorry for you fans who go and want a change, but not for the fans who are happy to keep this moron. Football is expensive enough to watch, and some attempt should be made to entertain IF last season and the first two games of this season is anything to go by, nothing has changed. If we get relegated playing like this....AND WE WILL.... we will of got what we deserved.

I don't know about today as I have been on the 🍺All day but even against West Brom last week we had 28% possession and today it was 30% is he still setting the team up not to get beat and hope that we can nick a win? I will still be there next week at Reading BUT if he continues with this game plan then wanderers fan or not I can't get on with it.
