Well I've just agreed on a new house in Barnsley so will soon be leaving Lincoln behind. I'm anticipating a move around mid Feb next year, which should be just as our new manager hits his stride and I can get to The Macron in an hour instead of 3 to celebrate and support our escape from relegation. Well, you do have to have dreams for the new year don't you? As for today, as much as I'd like to be positive, I'm afraid I'm with you Chip and expect no change in performance or result. Lincoln to Barnsley and your a true Wanderer W63!!! Good on yer pal. I’d love to know what you do for a living that has made you leave your beloved town of Bolton?? Your clocking up ore miles around the UK than Chris Eagles and that’s sayin summat😂😂 I like to think I'm a true Wanderer rftr wherever I lived, which has been London, Gretna, Liverpool, Dewsbury and others, yet always found times to make the match and whatever the weather. I have to say there were times I wondered if it was worth it but at the end of the day, just like yourself and others on here, once a Wanderer, always a Wanderer. Tonight I'm a happy Wanderer, although sad at not being able to make today. Mind you I'm a bit worried about having to eat OM's hat now!!

An excellent result for us. Three desperately needed points. Out of the bottom 3 at last!
Whist we are all celebrating 3 points, it was another raggy performance where we finished up with desperate defending for the last 20 minutes or so. Only difference this time is that Barnsley are poor forward-wise and Alnwick had a storming game and he won us the points.
The first half started as normal with the opponents having all the ball and us just occasional breakaways.
We had a few attacks which were really just hoofs into the box. From one of these Madine headed hopelessly over when he should have scored. We then had a move of decent quality down the right where Little broke into the box and centred for Madine to score. Not particularly deserved at that time but you take what you can get.
We immediately went to sleep. From the kick off a Barnsley midfield player got the ball 40 yards out and just ran at us and through us. Henry was hopeless. He should have easily stopped him but let him run into the box where I think it was Burke who tripped him. There was ample opportunity to have stopped him but 1 minute after us scoring they were level from the spot.
Almost immediately Buckley broke down the left and appeared to be pulled back in the box but ref waved play – one of many curious decisions.
We did though get a penalty when Buckley seemed to be blatantly tripped. I was horrified when Madine stepped up (remember his dreadful Bristol City pen 2 years ago) but he hit it straight down the middle and scored.
There were quite a few niggly comings together. Ameobi got booked for one and in the second half Vela and Pratley also did.
Second half was our usual second half, i.e. sat back in our own half with the opposition having all the ball.
But Ameobi and Little made a good break after 60 minutes or so and Ameobi made space for Little to drive into the box and score. A good goal totally out of context with the quality of the game.
Armstrong came on for Buckley and almost immediately put a shot just wide.
After that it was all Barnsley. We had no midfield at all. They just ran through us and but for brilliant Alnwick keeping, poor Barnsley finishing and some mass panicky clearances they would have scored.
The ref annoyed everyone when Vela made a good break and was chopped down. It was as clear a booking as you would ever see but, presumably because the guy was already on a yellow, he just talked to him. A clear sending off! Barnsley immediately subbed their player.
We won so congratulations for that but the football was awful. Our midfield was pathetic and, as usual, the passing was appalling.
Alnwick - 9 Some really good saves. Saved us from a desperate last 10 minutes.
Little - 8 Involved in the first goal with a good move and final pass to Madine. Scored the 3rd after good work with Ameobi. Very good going forward but, defensively, he leaves a hell of a lot of room behind him for attackers to run into.
Burke - 6 Very steady. Decent performance.
Beevers - 5 Made a couple of really bad errors which could, maybe should, have led to Barnsley goals.
Robinson - 6 Always busy. Caught a few times defensively.
Henry - 4 What a dreadful central midfield we have. Henry is just Pratley mark 2. Stood and watched Barnsley’s midfield run through us endlessly; no more so than for their penalty which should have been stopped 30 yards farther out.
Pratley - 4 Headless chicken. Awful.
Ameobi - 6 Some neat trickery but opponents are now doubling up on him and restricting him.
Buckley - 6 Showed some class and won us a penalty.
Vela - 6 He hasn’t yet discovered last season’s form but worked hard. Could easily have been sent off for having a go back at one of theirs for a coming together.
Madine -7 Extra points for his goals but, really, him in the starting line up dictates our terrible tactics. Mind you, if you are rubbish but score 2 goals in a game, I shouldn’t complain.
Armstrong - 5 One good shot just after our 3rd goal but he showed little else in 35+ mins on the field.
Wilbraham - N/A

Yes, well played Alnwick and Little in particular...despite the usual alarms late on I never felt that the game would not be won, and on the whole I thought the selection was largely effective against the opposition, notwithstanding the usual dearth of passing through midfield. That being said, Barnsley were poor and these tactics will probably struggle against better opposition in the coming weeks. The subs were formulaic, and there was obviously no need to disrupt the system as far as the manager was concerned, but I continue to feel frustrated at the lack of game time for ALF, and the continuing absence of Derik and/or Karacan in midfield. Somehow this victory must become a platform for continued improvement, at least in terms of points, and hopefully a lasting farewell to the bottom three, but I fear it could take more than was on offer today....this 6 game month really could define the season, and in terms of today's result the Wanderers have done what they had to do to ensure that it got off to a positive start.

Judging by reports it seems our lucky General Parky struck again. How we're out of the bottom three I really don't know but then I still don't know how we got promoted last year. Churlish I know to criticise after a win but I still believe with a different set up we could do so much better. Sadly we know Parky will not change things so we'll just have to try to put up with it.

I’m expecring nothing less than a point at Nottm Forest to keep up with my predictions, but having seen them Easily turned over by Ipswich, we must take advantage of their fragility and got to the City Ground looking for the win. If we take maximum points from the 3 games ( including Barnsley) by the time we face Cardiff, we could be a different proposition for Warnocks boys and who knows, we might turn them over too. Having said all that, it is ten past midnight and I really should get some sleep.

Is it just me or has Little only got forward twice with purpose this season. Both in yesterdays game.....one assist...1 goal....take the shackles off Parky !!!!

First thing I would do is have a penalty competition to find out who can take the better penalty because I've seen Madines efforts and they're woeful. Yes it went in but the keeper could have guessed the wrong way and still got to that, he must one similarly vs forest in his first few matches and it seemed to sent his confidence. I think ALF would be the best option if he's on apart from that not sure who has the composure.
Is the Wheater and Beevers combo at risk?
In the trilogy of must win games we spoke about we are 1/3 so can't moan too much. If we are in this position in January then we really need to see about improvements to the team(not the squad)
3: three draws would be better for the mini league. But one win and two losses would be poor and I would be expect a new man in charge. 2: pathetic Parky to go. 1 or 0: the abyss. League one. Rubbish xmas. Ken to give up. Liquidation and 9,000 crowds.
Just thought I'd review this thread for the points tally for the three winnable games and see where would that would leave us. Two losses and a win. I can't really argue with what u originally said. Poor and expect a new man in charge because it spells relegation. Worse is that the defeats have been due to poor defending away and being too negative at home. Same old story. I'm not sure a new manager can come in and save us. I think Teams around us will pick up points and we struggle too but for next season we have to start playing a different way. A more positive way because we're not only losing points, we're putting off fans and we've seen its not easy to get fans back once they decide that there's better things to do. And for anyone who thinks Ken won't sack Parky I think you're wrong and I think when he sees ticket sales over xmas he'll know something's got to give.

I agree on KA and ticket sales OM but if the fact is that he really can't afford to sack him, what can he do? Frankly I can only believe that if he did have the money he would have sacked him already so I can only conclude he hasn't and won't. I've already made my decision and I'm not putting any more of my cash into Anderson's pocket if he insists on letting Parky relegate our club. Surely, even to Anderson, it must be patently obvious that Parky hasn't the ability to get us out of the mess. I'd respect Parky much more if he at least tried to show a bit of invention rather than sticking to the same failing players and system. I can only assume he sees something nobody else does and can only cling to that. Please Ken, if you read these forums, please act now for the good of our club and yourself.

The problem is that we play a system that is based on clean sheets to get anything from. The way we set up is to be in the match for as long as possible and hope that we can nick a goal. Trouble is that we cannot defend well enough at this level and will concede sooner or later.
All this comes from a manager who has no confidence. The hoof ball instead of passing. The Pratley-Henry partnership at home and the solo striker. If parky had any confidence in the side he would challenge them to take the game to opponents and to match them man on man. He doesn't. Even Burton has him knowing we cannot compete. That for me is why he must go and why the next manager but back himself and his players!
